The sad thing is that, in the field of potential RNC presidential candidates, he was the best. At least, it’s sad if you’re a Republican politician these days. I suppose what I’m feeling could best be described as schadenfreude.

Coincidentally, NPR ran a piece on George Pullman this morning and how he built his Pullman car empire on a workforce consisting almost entirely of former house slaves, both for their learned deference to white folk and the relatively low wages that they’d work for. I doubt that Steele is a regular NPR listener, but he might want to bend an ear toward this one.
