In America you’ll get food to eat
Won’t have to run through the jungle
And scuff up your feet
You’ll just sing about Jesus and drink wine all day
It’s great to be an American
Ain’t no lions or tigers-ain’t no mamba snake
Just the sweet watermelon and the buckwheat cake
Ev’rybody is as happy as a man can be
Climb aboard, little wog-sail away with me
Sail away-sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into RedState Bay
Sail away-sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into RedState Bay
E Pluribus Unum is pretty much the best RedStater ever.

Oh, man, I just realized what that song is really about.
Randy, thy name is genius.
I saw him do this in 1971 at Constitution Hall in DC. He was kind of a cult figure back then. I remember Rolling Stone did a “box” review of “13 Songs” pleading for support of Newman. Guess their prayers were answered. An elite strata lyricist, he’s an all-time favorite of mine.
As for the crackers at Red State, fuck you and the sheet-clad mule you rode in on.
E Pluribus, I bet hate republiKKKans for many of the same reasons black people do. For example, republiKKKans are goddam fucking retarded taint lapping dirty ass scrotes who ruined the country. Also, they shit on black people. All. The.Time.
But you knew that, so whtncha go fuck yaself, dickbite?
Well, Mr. Unum (or “E,” if I may call you by your first name), You’re just going to have to face the fact that those Negros are very ungrateful people. After all, it’s only been 146 years since that nice Republican, Mr. Lincoln, wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. Didn’t that mean the Republicans have already done enough for Those People?
It’s just like the French. Entirely out of the goodness of our hearts, we liberated them from the Nazis, and they go around being disagreeable and eating snails and stuff.
E Pluribus: “An’ some of my best friends like fried chicken also!”
“Sail Away” is a beautiful song about an ugly subject. At Red State, they just bring the pure ugly.
Michael Steele got himself an education, worked hard, and rose to the top. And so how did the GOP reward their model African-American man?
They publicly humiliated him by rewarding him with the leadership of their party and then saying, “shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down. You think you’re in charge? Fuck you.”
With friends like that…
What adult is not won over when told in condescending, paternalistic tones that she doesn’t know enough to eat her vegetables? What negroes could resist the plea to join the party that thinks they vote Democratic to get their free cars?
“We’re rednecks, rednecks!
Don’t know our ass from a hole in the ground.
We’re rednecks! We’re rednecks!
Just keepin’ the niggers down.”
I love Randy Newman; sweet sounding songs with a savage satirical bite.
It’s 12 Songs, not 13 Songs.
Link to Amazon because everyone who doesn’t have this should buy it (and those who do should buy another one). The man is a stone cold genius.

Opening lines of “Redneck”, the song quote by dedickson @ 6:56am, from the album Good Old Boys:

Last night I saw Lester Maddox on a TV show
With some smart ass New York Jew
And the Jew laughed at Lester Maddox
And the audience laughed at Lester Maddox too
Well he may be a fool but he’s our fool
If they think they’re better than him they’re wrong
And the conclusion:
Now your northern nigger’s a Negro
You see he’s got his dignity
Down here we’re too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the nigger free
Yes he’s free to be put in a cage
In Harlem in New York City
And he’s free to be put in a cage on the South-Side of Chicago
And the West-Side
And he’s free to be put in a cage in Hough in Cleveland
And he’s free to be put in a cage in East St. Louis
And he’s free to be put in a cage in Fillmore in San Francisco
And he’s free to be put in a cage in Roxbury in Boston
They’re gatherin’ ‘em up from miles around
Keepin’ the niggers down
The best version of this song is by Etta James. She did several Randy Newman songs in the seventies and all interpretations are excellent and well worth finding.
Wow … all this time I thought I was the only one who found Randy Newman to be the best lyricist ever. I mean, dude comes up with song after song after song that can capture a moment so perfectly not even a camera could provide a better picture of it.
So, yeah, nice to see.
As far as RedState and the “After all we’ve done for you!” bit of stupid, it’s not like these clowns are good at being self aware or anything. They’re convinced Reagan was a tax-cutting, Commie-killing, and small-government hero.
The only thing surprising about it was that it wasn’t posted sooner.
