Wow … all this time I thought I was the only one who found Randy Newman to be the best lyricist ever. I mean, dude comes up with song after song after song that can capture a moment so perfectly not even a camera could provide a better picture of it.

So, yeah, nice to see.

As far as RedState and the “After all we’ve done for you!” bit of stupid, it’s not like these clowns are good at being self aware or anything. They’re convinced Reagan was a tax-cutting, Commie-killing, and small-government hero.

The only thing surprising about it was that it wasn’t posted sooner.

The best version of this song is by Etta James. She did several Randy Newman songs in the seventies and all interpretations are excellent and well worth finding.
