The Wendy Long Wingnut Welfare Nameplate Organization apparently isn’t a nonprofit — at least, there’s no entry on Guidestar — so there’s no formal fundraising body. I’d like to know exactly where those donations are headed, and I’m sure the IRS would agree. SourceWatch has more: the arrangement is more convoluted and intriguing here than most wingnut welfare 501(c)(3) or (c)(4) operations.

No matter what, it’s just some official-sounding name they made up so she can show up as something other than “Wendy Long, random wingnut without a day job.”

It’s funny how so many “two people, a laundry-room office and a maildrop” operations seem to run on about $3m a year and give their head honchos six figure salaries. There are tons of them — I look at the tax forms and see the same ballpark donation numbers all the time. There’s a book to be written on the legal money laundering that goes on here: the orgs pop up for an election or a single-issue campaign and go dormant, then come back with a fresh injection of Scaife-juice.

I just noticed: the “Judicial Confirmation Network” is so current and up-to-date, they have a picture in their header of the Supreme Court–when there were still two females on it.

Hey, if anyone is interested, the JCN has collected a nice, um, collection of wingnut articles from 2005 on the abuse of filibustering of judicial nominees. I’m sure all of these people will be consistent in their earlier stance when it is time to vote for Obama’s candidates:
