If conservatives want to spend their days and nights waging blog jihad against a late nite comedian, I say let them. It’ll keep them out of gangs and off of drugs (although in the case of mini-Godlstein, elephant tranquilizers might have a much needed calming effect making him the exception to the rule) and maybe we’ll have fewer murdered cops and doctors.
I think all reasonable people can agree that would be a good thing.

I can never understand their priorities. A late nite comedian whose best days are behind him cracks a joke on his late nite teevee show that they don’t find funny and they get all huffy puffy self righteous and “we must defend this poor 14 year old’s dignity against the liberal perverts.”
A real terrorist guns down a real doctor in cold blood during a church service and ….crickets.
A bad joke elicits howls of outrage. A murdered man, not so much.
Dan Collins bio line from his, ahem, “work” at the BigHo.
Dan Collins is a guy who blogs at Protein Wisdom. He lives in Vermont because it’s less exhausting to hate people from a distance.
About says it all, no?
How would you even know that Lletterman insulted Caribou Barbie if you’ve gone Galt and given your tv to the smelly old guy living under the bridge? Aren’t these patriotic guys and gals supposed to be stacking ammo and tuna cans in preparation for the muslamolistic obamanation about to befall them?
But, hey, when they’re done with Letterman we can surely find them another windmill at which to tilt…
Evidently the wingers and SP didn’t learn a damn thing about Letterman during the 2008 campaign. John McCain lied through his teeth to him, and Dave called him, and called him, and called him on it. Undoubtedly Dave’s disgust influenced some low-information voters, and most likely, not in favor of the McCain/Palin ticket. (I always taught my kids to call people with whom they dispute “low-information” rather than “stupid.”)

You’re right to teach your kids civility, but I’ve always preferred “stupid” myself.
JDM3, care to weigh in?

Think Dan will be upset about this?

Speaking of Godlstein…what happened to him?
He held a fundraiser a while back…pocketed the money…then stopped posting altogether.
Nice “work” if you can get it.
Maybe they can get an 89 year old assailant to shoot Dave in the back with his long-rifle”.
They all have to be rejoicing that they can now fall asleep during Leno’s monolouge 90 minutes earlier come the fall!
Once again, conservatives don’t exactly seem to be speaking for the majority.
Nothing to do with right-wing outrage – faux or not. But Letterman was way out of line and we need to call him on it.
Otherwise we have no moral right to call out Limbaugh ‘the entertainer’ if he plays ‘Barack the magic negro’.
How is this Willow Palin’s fault that she was referred to on national TV as having been ‘knocked up’ by A-Rod?
That was just wrong.
The joke was misogynistic, tasteless garbage. The next time we have the election where David Letterman runs for Spokesperson for All the Liberals in America, I will definitely vote against him. Until then, I’ll just turn off my TV and go to bed, like the majority of Americans do.
Horrible fucking idea, risking more law enforcement deaths while there are so many republiKKKan pervs running around in public rest areas waiting to be busted, like, say, Senator Craig. Retarded fucking fucks. Don’t think MTB’s suggestion covers all the bases here, though. Many of them are really stupid and all of them are low information. The first group, ya made ‘em less ignorant, they’d still be really fucking stupid. Second group seems to have impenetrable defenses coupled with no sense of limits. This I occasionally find frustrating. Fucktards.
What she said. Hate it when the reich frames the dialogue.
I’m not going to defend Dave’s comments. He should be ashamed of himself, but you can bet he’s not, because he’s trying to kick Conan’s ass in the ratings, and taking a page from Limbaugh’s playbook, he’s trying to get attention by making outrageous, obnoxious comments. Mission Accomplished!
Anyway, check this out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..2863.html. Are flight attendants allowed to do that to their toenails? I don’t think so.

Awwwwww, bless her heart.
Anything that keeps them diverted from the actual political process is a good thing.
I’m with sophronia. My objection to Letterman’s joke is so total, so ginormous, so event horizon-ey that it amounted to prescriptive outrage so prescient that I forgot to watch the entire run of the show since…uh…that other unfunny guy. Do I mean Carson? Yes.
aimai
Ummmm. Letterman’s joke was lame and wrong, but it was about Bristol–you know, the knocked up 18 year-old–not a 14 year old.
Geez.
Sounds about right. I haven’t watched Letterman since I stopped drinking nearly twenty years ago. He makes a sexist joke, I feel no need to take responsibility for it. And while I’m happy to call Letterman an asshole for it, I will be damned if I will apologize for his sexist joke to a bunch of people who call Helen Thomas a hag, call Michelle Obama a bitch, make clever “CUNT” jokes about Hillary Clinton, or anything else. Fuck them all. Your fauxtrage fools no-one.
Anyone else reminded of the “He called her a pig” howls during the election?
