Sounds about right. I haven’t watched Letterman since I stopped drinking nearly twenty years ago. He makes a sexist joke, I feel no need to take responsibility for it. And while I’m happy to call Letterman an asshole for it, I will be damned if I will apologize for his sexist joke to a bunch of people who call Helen Thomas a hag, call Michelle Obama a bitch, make clever “CUNT” jokes about Hillary Clinton, or anything else. Fuck them all. Your fauxtrage fools no-one.

Anyone else reminded of the “He called her a pig” howls during the election?

I’m with sophronia. My objection to Letterman’s joke is so total, so ginormous, so event horizon-ey that it amounted to prescriptive outrage so prescient that I forgot to watch the entire run of the show since…uh…that other unfunny guy. Do I mean Carson? Yes.

I’m not going to defend Dave’s comments. He should be ashamed of himself, but you can bet he’s not, because he’s trying to kick Conan’s ass in the ratings, and taking a page from Limbaugh’s playbook, he’s trying to get attention by making outrageous, obnoxious comments. Mission Accomplished!

Horrible fucking idea, risking more law enforcement deaths while there are so many republiKKKan pervs running around in public rest areas waiting to be busted, like, say, Senator Craig. Retarded fucking fucks. Don’t think MTB’s suggestion covers all the bases here, though. Many of them are really stupid and all of them are low information. The first group, ya made ‘em less ignorant, they’d still be really fucking stupid. Second group seems to have impenetrable defenses coupled with no sense of limits. Nothing to do with right-wing outrage - faux or not. But Letterman was way out of line and we need to call him on it.

Otherwise we have no moral right to call out Limbaugh ‘the entertainer’ if he plays ‘Barack the magic negro’.

How is this Willow Palin’s fault that she was referred to on national TV as having been ‘knocked up’ by A-Rod?
