I’m officially moving the Pre-Friday Random Ten to Wednesday nights because:
- I already have a regular feature in Thursday Night Basset Blogging .
- Wednesdays are my worst blogging nights and random ten is an easy out. Honest to Jeebus, there is something about Wednesdays where I just have… nothing. So: random ten = something.
- Because "shut up" is why.
Anyone who wants to recommend a new name to replace Pre-Friday Random Ten may do so in the comments.
Also. We’re keeping Dancing Elaine until something better comes along.
Below the fold is the music portion of our program:
Do The Strand – Roxy Music
Fame Throwa – Pavement
Blue Bird – Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Cool Blue Stole My Heart – Joan Armatrading
Sister Seagull (live) – Be Bop Deluxe
Newborn – Elbow
Kiss Me Like You Mean It – The Magnetic Fields
I Didn’t Mean To Hurt You – Spiritualized
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (live) – Jimi Hendrix
Pieces of the Sky – Beth Orton
and number eleven because we mean eleven when we say ten:
Georgia vs. Yo La Tengo – Yo La Tengo
This would be a good time to point out that you really should own a copy of Yo La Tengo’s Summer Sun, it being summer and all. It’s also my favorite YLT.

There is currently nothing dancing better than Dancing Elaine except for the piano-legged roof top dancer in the pop-up mortgage ad that comes and goes and that is probably protected by ninja legal teams. Leave her be.
You won’t get any complaint from me. If I had my way, bassets would monopolize Thursday.
Re the name, there’s always “hump day” but that may be considered indelicate.
Technically, Wednesday is still pre-Friday.
As Lesley suggests, ‘Hump Day’ is an option but phrases such as “Random Hump Day Selection” may offend the well-established delicate sensibilities of your key demographic.
Wednesday is “the hump” day. “The Hump Day Random 10″ has the added benefit of its implied sexual overtones to offend the virgin eyesockets of lurking wingnuts, giving them yet one more example of the alleged moral decay of the liberal elite to whine about.
Wondered wtf.
What I’ve been listening to this evening as randomly generated by iTunes:
Oye Mira – Pacha Massive
Almada (Desalmada mix) – Clorofila
Aspettando Te – Cocktail Mood

The Humpty Dance is your chance so do the Hump!

I was gonna suggest Webensdabay Rabandobom Teben, but I like Hump Day too.
Oh, and yo la tengo rules.

We really don’t have enough Hump Day activity, so that’d be my vote, too.
I assume that Hump Day Random Ten posts will continue to feature music I’ve never heard, performed by people I’ve never heard of, but I’m cool with that. I enjoy seeing what the youngsters are listening to, and I get a special thrill when I recognize something like one out of thirty or so items.
Hump Day? Feh…
Pre-Thursday? Pre-Basset?
All right thinking people know that if Thursday is Pre-Friday, then Wednesday must be Pre-Pre-Friday.
