I live in Washington State across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Vancouver Island, and I can tell you there are hundreds, if not thousands, of Canadian bodies washing ashore every day. At the current rate, I’m guessing the entire country will be depopulated in a few months.

Why just the other day, I witnessed the dying words of a Canadian — I didn’t get too close just in case he was contagious — and they were, “If only I had had the best health care in the world like you guys in America.” And he died. I almost felt sorry for him, but then I realized, no one made Canadians opt for a communistic universal single-payer health care system. Screw ‘em.

Since you haven’t even paid taxes under any changes to the IRC that may have been passed by Obama, yet, I find this interesting. My first inclination is to wonder if you’re too math-impaired to understand the basics of the tax code.

So let’s see if you’re up to the Pepsi challenge: Dig out a pay stub from December 2008, and a pay stub from last month. Assuming your job and salary levels haven’t changed, I can tell you right now that the reason your taxes are higher now than in December is because many people don’t pay into Soc. Sec. for 12 months of the year. (See Soc. Sec. box.)

Also, if your employer pays for healthcare, that probably increased. That’s not a tax. And if you itemize, at least part of it may be deductible. (See appropriate box.)

Also, state taxes are figured in a separate box. Those have risen in many states–not because of Obama, but because States have invested pension funds, healthcare trust funds, and money used for their operating budgets in securities backed by bank stocks, petroleum producers’ stocks, insurance company stocks, mortgage backed bonds…. The sort of rock-solid businesses who prospered obscenely right before Obama was elected because the Bush administration let them pretty much do as they pleased with little government oversight. (See appropriate box.)

Of course that little experiment turned out real well, when the top people for those industries bailed, leaving BushCo holding the bag. It was the Bush administration who passed TARP’s trillion-dollar bail-out plan–with virtually no oversight, and immunity from prosecution for virtually all of the people responsible.

So chew on that one, troll.

An additional 1% on income over an amount most of us will never make is “raising them dramatically”. What a drama queen. I’d bet you go to the ER when you get a hangnail.
