No, there’s a possibility they discovered a meth lab, but pot growing hippies don’t generally use violence to defend their fields. Mostly they just retreat and cry as the feds burn up their stash.

Meth heads are more likely to be crazed and violent. According to what I’ve read, it’s unlikely they would advertise one of their killings like this, though. I personally think it might be an intersection of meth and right wing crazy, but I don’t know for sure.

His supervisor should have known exactly which houses he was working on the day he turned up missing. I’m actually wondering why no one has been arrested yet, since a canvass of the target area would normally narrow it down. I’m guessing almost everyone in the target area is not cooperative with law enforcement. It’s ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ territory.

If Kentucky is anything like Oklahoma, where I spent a good part of my life, a lot of the pot is being grown by serious rednecks, not by hippies (think Steve Earle’s “Copperhead Road”). Same folks who are cooking the meth and they do indeed protect their fields with violence (you want to be very careful walking through the national forests in SE Oklahoma). Of course a lot of these folks are also involved in the militia and white supremacy movements, so these are not mutually exclusive possibilities.

Small town America has been gutted by agricultural consolidation and mechanization, as well off shoring of factory jobs. In general, they are much worse off than most of America and have been steadily losing population for 20-30 years as a consequence. Here in Montana, we are gaining population in a few counties in the mountainous western part of the state, while the eastern 2/3 of the state (in the Great Plains) steadily bleeds population. This is fairly consistent throughout the Great Plains

Please don’t get flu shots this year. Why? It’s socialized medicine! Worse, it is the gateway to ObamaCare.

1) You can’t trust the anti-virus. Remember, this is the federal government we are talking about, they can’t do anything right. The FDA picks the strains of flu that might hit. Since the bloated government program known as the Federal Drug Administration doesn’t let the private anti-virals makers decide they often get it wrong. Unless you incubated the virus yourself you can’t trust it. You wouldn’t want the DMV to create your flu vaccine, yet the Government basically does just that with flu shots!

2) You are healthy now. Getting a government flu shot is just like getting government health care insurance. Keep the Government out of your Body! The government has NO business mixing up a bunch of viruses in an egg, letting it ferment and then injecting the goo in you!

3) Like all things the Obama administration does, they aren’t telling you the whole story.
The odds are that the swine flu won’t reach you. You don’t live in filthy close quarter conditions like some people. As long as you state away from those people you will be fine.

4) Unlike past administrations, the Obama administration will be giving out two flu shots. One filled with the FDA guesses and one with swine flu. Or so they say. Do you really think that a man who won’t reveal his birth certificate (vs. certificate of live birth) would tell you the whole story? We don’t think so Barry.

What they aren’t telling you is that the flu shots will be used to start tracking people’s health so that when ObamaCare comes around they will know who you are and where to find you for “end of life counseling”

In sum, flu shots are a waste of time for anyone who is a good conservative who wants smaller government. Protect yourself from being infected with “anti-virus” shots. Tell all your conservative friends. Let’s ensure that Obama’s first attempt at socialized medicine fails!

Remember, nowhere in the Constitution does it say the federal government can give you a flu shot.

To be accurate, it’s an oxymoran.

While it’s true that poor Bill Sparkman’s body was “by a tree” and strangled, we cannot blame the tree. More horribly, Mr. Sparkman was evidently tortured to death by some revoltingly sick and hateful people of the kind who frighten me much more than John Wyndham’s now-dated novel. These spawn of Beck are as monstrous as anything ever concocted for a work of fiction.

I remember waking up screaming one night in England when I was 12, having finishing reading The Day of the Triffids just before going to sleep. At that time it was one of the most terrifying books I had ever read. I recently looked into it again, and found it still entertaining for the setup story in which the astonishingly beautiful green lights fill the sky one night, after which… well, I won’t spoil the story for you.

Rather than reading The Triffids, I suggest watching the still-entertaining film “Village of the Damned” (1960), based on Wyndham’s The Midwich Cuckoos.

But I’m sure I will never read a work of fiction half as horrible as the story of Bill Sparkman’s cruel murder.

BTW, watched Sicko today with my 77 year old mother, who has been confused by everything on the TV about health care reform. Fox and the Republicans have been trying to scare her.

Her response to the movie–she was livid. She wanted to know why you had to rent the DVD to see this. Why isn’t it on TV so people can see the truth? (Had to point out to her that the airwaves/networks/MSM are owned by the rich, who don’t want her to see this movie.)

And she shared with me how, when she and her family were refugees in post war Europe, they received free medical care in the hospital in Regensburg. If such a poor (then) country could provide this, why can’t our rich nation?

Asif Manvi was investigating global warming and climate change and interviewing scientists who said that trees are the problem with a decrease in wind speeds thruout the planet, so he started attacking them. Like I said, it was very funny.
