Shorter Ross Douthat:
The entire caucus of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party hopes that the President will heed the wise counsel of Joe Lieberman.
Last I heard, the CfL party threw weepin Joe out of the party, but I guess he got it back.
I wonder what the chunky-lower-a-list-star-lookalike caucus has to say about this “column.”
Reading that article was like having someone drunkenly masticating my neck and cheeks. I can’t believe I keep clicking on these things.
I believe that in Ross we have a new nym combining bat-shit crazy and a douchebag.
Bluto: “Your new Wingnut name is, “Douchebat”.”
Ross: “Douchebat? Why Douchebat?”
Bluto: “Why not?”
Two things: First, an op/ed piece featuring a question as a title (A War President?) is an insult to the reader because the columnist, obviously hedging his bets, will be drawing no conclusions.
Second, this has to be the most flaccid subtitle ever — Senator Joe Lieberman is just one of many people waiting to find out if President Obama truly believes that the war he inherited in Afghanistan is a war of necessity.
It is ONLY the sage advice of Joe Lieberman that can lead strong, young, virile Ivy League men to the correct course of action in dealing with all of the chunky-Reese-Witherspoons of an increasingly dangerous world.
Legally Blonde THIS, you muslin extremists!
Ah, yes, the sage, wise advice of Joe-the-not-Democrat. Nope, no link clicky for you, Mr. Asshat!
Signed, not-so-affectionately,
Chunkier Reese
Douthat is a real tool.
If Iraq is our most important theatre, did he miss the part where we paid off the locals to toss those Al Queda boys out very successfully, I might add?
And describing McCrystal’s strategy as one that is “likely to increase losses and violence in the short term in exchange for a chance at stability in the longer term,” sounds a lot like the surge that Lieberman was gung-ho about when it was a Republican idea.
Kinda makes me nostalgic for the chronic FAIL of William Kristol.
Douthat and Lieberman deserve one another. BTW, Joe never actually formed a Connecticut for Lieberman Party; he ran as an independent. The name is now owned by an anti-Joe group.
I always thought that it was highly revealing that he chose CT for Lieberman as his phony party name, rather than Lieberman for CT. It reflects his priorities – me, me, me, me, me……
Actually, Joe, the only war we SHOULD have been in was Afghanistan.
Asshole.
And you too Ross…..
When I was younger, my older brothers told me about the disgusting, pasty, flabby old men who used to masturbate together in the basement of our local YMCA. Said they all looked like Joe Lieberman.
I think that’s where Rose learned to make out.

Ick…. Just ick!

It’s good that Lieberman’s felt need for him to be a balls-out war president will in no way set up Obama for “Heads I win, tails you lose,” when General Petraeus reluctantly accepts a Republican draft in 2012.
Is there any evidence, other than republican fantasy I mean, that GEN Petraeus is a republican or that he has electoral ambitions?
Not Petraeus, it’s General Stanley A. McChrystal who would so desperately like to have his mail delivered to 1600 Penn. Av. You don’t think these things leak themselves, do you?
I clicked the link. I read something. I think. It had the words Ross and Lieberman. That’s all I remember. A waste of bytes and two minutes of my life.
Shorter Douchehat: “I big boy now; I talk on phone to Senator Joe. He likes playing war. I hope the President likes playing war, too.”
“Ross, can you spell i-r-r-e-l-e-v-a-n-t? I knew you could. Guess what? It applies equally to you AND your friend, Joe.”
Meanwhile, at least important stuff like arresting Polanski transpires.
Our long national nightmare is over.
Douthat: morose, jowly, moralizing, self-absorbed, wrong about everything.
Lieberman: morose, jowly, moralizing, self-absorbed, wrong about everything.
Match.com would have paired them up in a heartbeat.
What in the world makes this asshat think that anyone, ANYONE gives a shit about what Joe Lieberman thinks about anything?? No, really. I haven’t listened to a word that tool has had to say for years. For some reason, the right just does not get that the left HATES Joe Lieberman and everything he has said or done in many, many a moon. The minute JL’s name was mentioned in this turd’s opining, I was gone, baby gone. God, these wingers are stupid.
So you’re OK with celebrities drugging and raping 13 year old girls, pleading guilty then skipping the country before sentencing and serving the prison term?
I bet you were cheering for Alex Kelly when he ran away from rape charges in Connecticut.
Ya know, most folks are able to carry more than one issue in their brains and work on them.
Yes, and they can even prioritize them. Fancy that.
Actually, I kinda hope that he and Bernie Madoff share a cell.
Go figure.
“This kind of war may well be worth fighting. But it can only be prosecuted by a president who believes in it wholeheartedly.”
It is the famous Green Lantern Theory of Foreign Affairs!!!

The only choice Obama has is to do what Lieberman tells him to do, but if it doesn’t work it is Obama’s fault because he didn’t believe in it “wholeheartedly”. Classic neo-con non-accountability.
That quote jumped out at me, also. Bush believed wholeheartedly in his Iraq war, got Congress to believe in it wholeheartedly, threw trillions of dollars at it wholeheartedly, and still wholeheartedly fucked it up.
In neo-con la-la land believing wholeheartedly is way better than reality.
I thought it was the liberals’ fault that Bush’s Tinkerbell died. You have to admit that we didn’t really clap very hard at all.
That’s a good ‘un.
Urban Dictionary
Douchephat thinks the only thing standing between us and victory in Afghanistan is Obama’s and the country’s will to win. After 8 fucking years in Afghanistan and he thinks we haven’t “won” yet because Bush didn’t have the will to win. What the fuck. He’s already written the column where he blames the loss in Iraq and Afghanistan on O. He just needs to add the date.
