Also. I know everybody just looooves her, but Susan Boyle’s cover of Wild Horses is… all wrong. Just terrible.
This is the standard for the song:

the Burrito Bros. version of Wild Horses, originally appearing on there second album, Burrito Deluxe, actually came out before the Stones version on Sticky Fingers. As I recall, Gram and Keith were heroin buddies at the time, and Keith wrote it for Gram. Or something like that.
Personally, I’ve always thought it was wildly overrated. The Sundays version is alright. It’s just not that great a song.

Keith Richards said he wrote it for Gram Parsons. He sang it at the memorial concert for Parsons a little while ago. Got some of the words wrong. But he sang it like he meant it.
Really, what’s the fucking steer doing in The Sundays’ video? It’s a love’s sweet regret song, and tho’ I love bluegrass myself, Jerry Garcia’s Old and In the Way played it with the wrong tempo. It’s more of a slow gospel feel. The Stones back then brought various gospel sounds into their music, possibly via Ray Charles. The Staple Singers doing “Gimme Shelter” was one of the most religious experiences of my early life.
