I miss Satchmo too. Your descriptions of his personality always sounded like my departed and sadly missed Maui. I like to think of them together at the Bridge, being saintly.

Dear Mr and Mrs Tbogg,

Love the blog, visit all the time, esp for basset blogging. Love those bassets, even tho they sometimes physically remind me of Senator Lieberman…

My wife and I know how you feel.. we lost two of our little friends in August, and the holes in our hearts are huge.. Our friends were cats, one was 15, and the other 13. It hurts.

The best to you, and keep doing the blog and the basset blogging.. Look for it every week..

Lovely pic. Satchmo was noble, indeed.

“The Velveteen Bassett.” I get that. My own solid black kitty named Pushy (for his kittenhood behavior) is often called Plushy because his fur is so…plushy. Love to nuzzle it on a bad day (or a good day!).

One of my favorite things about Satchmo was that the fur around his neck was so soft that we nicknamed him “The Velveteen Basset”. It made you just want to bury your face in his neck and stay there forever…..I miss that so much.

They really worm their way into our hearts, don’t they. My wife and I lost our 16 yo “little buddy” in May to heart failure. I remembered your posts about Satchmo’s passing and how you liked having his ashes nearby. I had my little buddy cremated and I have his ashes, next to his photo and collar, in my office at home. It makes me feel better having them there. We have two dogs now, both rescues, and I love them dearly, but I will always miss my little buddy. He was truly one of a kind, as was your Satchmo…

Now go hug Fenway and the Beckster…..
