Beyond that, from reading your comments about Arthur over the years, I get the feeling that he is a bit skittish at times, even when he’s home with you in his accustomed environment. Do you have sufficient choices in kennels in your area to find folks who are good with doggies having personalities like Arthur’s?

I want all of you to share my outrage. I had to take Arthur J. GWPDA over to the boarding kennel two days ago, while my house was being de-ratted. When I brought him home, to meet his veterinary so as to get his bloodwork done, the veterinary discovered that a ‘rabies loop’ had been used on the doggie with the 52″ neck. His throat was bruised and chafed, raw – and the kennel had never told me that they had done it. BAD PIBBELS!
I throw this in after reading about St. Satchmo: ‘that the fur around his neck was so soft that we nicknamed him “The Velveteen Basset”. It made you just want to bury your face in his neck and stay there forever…’ Why would a kennel hurt their customers like that?

Even more brilliant when you think of the short lead time. Beck went in the hospital not more than 24 hours before and TDS wrote it with Stewart not having a hell of a lot of time to work on his delivery. Jon doesn’t usually do lengthy “bits” so I was impressed as all get out while I was watching it. Tina Fey won an Emmy for her Sarah Palin; Jon Stewart ought to get one for his Glenn Beck.
