Nick Gillespie needs a new Fonzi jacket
The moochers over at Reason are using guilt as a way to loot the wallets of society’s producers so that they can continue to write more stuff about Free Market Capitalism and Social Darwinism:
Introducing the Fall 2009 Reason.com Webathon! Because Free Minds and Free Markets Aren’t Free!
For the next week, Reason mag Editor in Chief Matt Welch and I will be asking you to please help us keep Reason.com, Reason.tv, and Reason magazine going stronger than ever by giving a tax-deductible donation to Reason Foundation, the nonprofit publisher of the leading libertarian website, video site, and print publication in this and all other known galaxies.
Since your contribution is tax deductible that means your hard-earned money won’t be stolen by Big Government and given to a bunch of dusky welfare leeches with no marketable skills. Instead your cash contribution will pay the salaries of a bunch of anti-social assholes with no marketable skills unless, of course, you think being a sneering prick devoid of any quantifiable emotional response to the pain of others or the ability to feel compassion or a twinge of sympathy for people less fortunate than yourself is a marketable skill.
Which it is, but only in states that still have the death penalty.

Is being able to turn the word “reason” into an oxymoron a marketable skill?
Are they selling indulgences for the sin of sanctioning ones own victimhood?
I’d love to donate money but it would create a moral hazard, and just encourage Reason to give away more money to its employees instead of depending on free market forces to set wages.
That’s not a “Fonzi jacket”, that’s a BLACK PANTHER JACKET!!!

Paraphrasing a comment I left elsewhere; Libertarianism is just Satanism without the flashlight under the chin. Apologies to Satanists everywhere.
Does “Reason” provide health insurance?
Ah. So they are against socialism–unless they benefit from them. Yep. Sounds like your average teabagger response. (And yes, I know they are purportedly glibertarians. Whatever).
It would stand to “reason” that if the forces of the free market system wanted Reason to survive, they wouldn’t be needing no steenking handouts, er, donations.
And from the pic it looks like Gillespie has just completed the ‘ol “watch while I turn this dollar bill into a worthless piece of paper” trick.
At least they had Anton LaVey, who had a genuine showman’s flair for theater. The best they’ve got is Peter Bagge, who just hasn’t been the same since he folded Hate.
Now, now–they gotta do SOMETHING to keep themselves in guns, ganja, and comic books.
Personally, I’ve always enjoyed debating with the folks over at Reason. No matter the topic, if the debate progresses beyond three exchanges it always ends up with the stock Reason answer: “Because SHUT UP is why!”
That’s almost worth paying money for (not).
Here’s your answer.
Shorter Comrade Gillespie’s bio: I used my government supplemented education from two state univerisities to study things that make me unemployable in the Glibotopia that I dream of. That being said, please send cash.
Actually, he hit the trifecta there. Temple AND Rutgers are state universities too. In that way, he reminds me of all the idiot conservatives I used to run into at my State Universities — why, I used to ask, are you going to a place whose existence goes against your stated world view? They always answered something along the lines of to protect it from liberals like you or some such bullshit, but the fact remains that it’s wholly incompatible if you believe that the market is infallible.
And the annual non-profit begging from Reason has become almost like a holiday for me. It neatly encapsulates both the pitiful reality of their niche and the fraudulence of their philosophy. And I celebrate it like it was Mardi Gras.

Gin and Tacos is a nice blog.
As Michael Savage says,
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Funny how if anyone disagrees with you people you want to stomp em.
Bring back Ronnie and Barry.
ehabitvay kapusta,
from the polish.
Since I have actually read Atlas Begs and all, I will quote my hero Hank Rearden:
“Do I want to pay my workers more than they are worth to me? No”.
At which point Dagny has an orgasm, but that’s another story.
Rearden’s liver later had a guest appearance next to some fava beans, accompanied by a nice Chianti.
Libertarianism must be cool because Nick Gillespie always wears a black leather jacket. Even in August. Even in D.C.
So, “asiangrrlMN”, does “socialism” now mean “voluntary donations to organizations that you like”? Because that’s not what the dictionary, or, indeed, anybody who understand the word, says it means.
The review of the Rand biography in slate was quite awesome.
“Free Markets Aren’t Free!” No shit Sherlock.
I suspect the Libertarians don’t get the irony.
It is fucking hilarious that an asshole who writes the above paragraph would call someone else a dick. Every time I visit this shitty site, I find more material that answers the question “Why is firedoglake mocked as an irrelevancy by those not in its echochamber audience?”
Libertarianism is to politics as Scientology is to religion.

What answers the question “why does masanf keep visiting this site?”. You’d think that something irrelevant would not be worthy of visiting, or in your case, revisiting.
I visit to see the craziness of the Left…sort of the opposite of the Silence of the Lambs with the same result.
Who IS John Galt?
