I grew up in Bartlesville, OK (north of Tulsa, and left of absolutely nothing); just joined a Facebook group called “I went to high school in Bartlesville, OK, and still came out liberal.” It’s an amazingly large group. I think it’s a good reminder that even the reddest of places still have an awful lot of blue in them (and, more tragically, vice-versa).

I wish I had known Okies like you, DrDick, and VonZeppelin when I was living in OK. It would’ve made life a little easier. As it was, I learned to keep my librul leanings to myself around sixth or seventh grade.

If you happen to talk to your sis, ask her if she has run across anyone in Ponca who will admit they voted for Obama. It’s a long time since I’ve been there, and who knows, maybe there is a small, counter culture of angry libs defying the local norm. Even in Ponca city, eight years of Bush could have brought some out of hiding.

I should’ve been clearer. These would be cow pastures here in OK. There are some sheep round these parts, but mostly cattle.

Golly, I thought most all Republicans were sheep. You OK folks have those fancy non-Republican sheep? I gotta load up the EugeneHippyVan with medicinal pot (and hippies) and take a road trip to see this! Is there a particular time of year when non-republican-sheep-viewing is best? Sorta like when the New England “leaf” season is best? Is there a tour you can recommend? Also, I’ve noticed in Oregon that most sheep dogs herding republican sheep get bored. If I toss my dog DaisyDog into the HippyVan with the hippies for our road trip what are the odds that she’ll get some action with OK sheep? And does DaisyDog need any form of “protection” or are OK sheep OK?

I’ve got some pastures around here for signs like that. And some that will say “Republicans leave us alone”.
