This is such a simple and great post by John Cole and, if there is something to be thankful for today, it is a moment like the one he describes.
It reminds me of one of my all time favorites:

Back later with TNBB.

Yay! Thanksgiving Day, now with extra bassets. A grand day to all the TBogg household, primate and canine.
Possibly the snuggliest picture ever.
Thanks for all of the snark through the year, without which, life would be ever so much more drab.
So, I figured, Arthur should have a nice walky this noon, stroll around the neighbourhood, take his time, feel content.
We got halfway round the circuit and he refused to move any farther. Sat down in the middle of the road, then, laid down in the street. He’s 80lbs. I can’t tug at him, I can’t force him. I pinched him (gently) and he nipped me thru my sweater.
Happy Thanksgiving. MY DOGGIE IZ VERY VERY SILLY AND HE NEEDS TO BE WITH BECKHAM AND LEARN HOW NOT TO BE MEAN!
TBogg, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. You make my life somewhat richer. :-)
And that WAS a great post by John, and that IS a great photo of yours.
Sweetness.
I, too, am thankful for TBogg, his snark and his Thurs. basset blogging. I look forward to both.
I recall this lovely photo but can’t recall which basset is snuggling with Mrs. TBogg.
That would be the late great St. Satchmo. When his face was still brown, so pre-Beckham.
My dog Molly recently passed. She followed me from room to room for 16 years and she never got jealous when I’d put a picture of Satch, Fenway or Beckham up on my computer screen. When Satchmo died it made me realize just how short life is and made me enjoy by best friend even more. Man do I miss her. Happy Thanksgiving TBogg and Mrs. TBogg
Very nice photo, and appropriate for today.
Reminds me of every post-Thanksgiving position I have ever assumed.
Stuffed and happy, nodding almost narcotic-like from the Tryptophan-laced turkey.
I hope you, Mrs. T. and the L&TC have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Also. Palin-free.
Nice post. I happen to think Cole runs a pretty decent blog.
I love that picture. It just seems to epitomize love and peace and the beauty of life.
And did I mention love?
Happy Thanksgiving.
Dogs have so many friends because they wag their tails instead of their tongues.

I suspected it might be but have gotten it wrong in the past. I thought this particular snuggler might be Cooder.
P.S. I’m glad John wrote what he did about Lily because sometimes I think I ought to feel foolish loving dogs as much as I do, especially those I’ve never met (like Satchmo) but there it is.
But though Satchmo’s face on its own could melt the coldest heart, our shared love for all of your bassets has evolved through the Thursday tradition of sharing anecdotes and funny photos. May it never end.
My dog Molly, now 13, is slowing down fast. I had the same reaction as you when I read of the passing of noble Satchmo. Greatest sympathy for your loss from one Molly household to another…
What a goyish nose on Mrs TBogg! (something thanksgivingy here, also)
thanks for the Satchmo Mr TBogg ! – and I always love reading Tunch and Lilly posts
a recent fave – the punch line melted my heart
