If Martha Coakley loses this week it will be because Barack Obama has failed America and turned us into a socialist wasteland worse than North Korea which has given rise to a tide of populist anger which has been harnessed by a resurgent Republican party who then will win the war on terrorism, revive the economy that Obama has single-handedly destroyed, and bring back commonsense conservative principles that made this country great, won all of our wars, and freed the black man… although conservatives are still kind of split over that last one.
If Martha Coakley wins it will be because of ACORN.
There. Now you can just jump ahead to Wednesday and watch Cougar Town.
You’re welcome.

LOL!! Classic.
You’ve got that right: the winning party will point to the outcome as as vindication of its current deeply held principles and a repudiation of the other party’s current deeply held principles. That said, it took a heap of talented people working together to wind up in a nail biter for Ted Kennedy’s seat in Massafuckingchusetts. At this rate, Harry Reid will soon be whining about how hard it is to get together forty votes to filibuster Republican legislation.
If Martha Coakley loses, and the GOP will have 41 seats and can successfully filibuster bills, does this now make Joe Lieberman officially irrelevant?
Will all the unseemly promises to him, Ben Nelson, and all the others who used the bill to wallow in pork now be off the table?
How am I supposed to watch Tyler Perry’s Meet the Stereotype TV African-American Caricatures with that kind of intrique happening?
Damn, you’re right!
Oh well, at least there’s MLK Day and International Holocaust Remembrance Day to observe this week.
Nostradamus had a first name???
And it was “Michael”?
Who knew?
And you’ve got Fox and the Republicans (McConnell) calling this race a referendum.
You want a referendum, McConnell?
This November, in all 50 States, a referendum on a Single Payor Medicare For All insurance system.
YOU CAN’T HANDLE A REFERENDUM!
Either way, the fact that it’s even close does say something about something, no?
Oh, and Caepan @3: you’ve got that logic thing going again — it doesn’t apply in the Democratic Party. If Joe Lieberman becomes irrelevant, it’ll just be all the more imperative for Harry Reid and the beltway brigade to fellate him with increased vigor, because now he’ll be obnoxious AND his wittle feelings will be hurt.
You know who else will be blamed if Coakley loses? This blog.
Check it out where you guys are actually calling for her defeat in favor of a dyed-in-the-wool teabagger. I’ve been reading you, Tbogg, for about eight years, but as of today, I will never again return to Firedoglake. Let me know if you decide to join the good guys some day.
Lighten up, Francis.
And to everyone else who’s accusing the Dems of dropping the ball on this one: you’re kind of forgetting that the reason that Ted Kennedy had a lock on the seat really had to do with his last name.
Mauimom, many people are unaware that Michael Nostradamus’ lesser known brother, Ralph, was extremely successful at predicting the past.
Ooh… Fight! Fight! Fight! Awww, he’s running away.
“Yes, depart a lot at this time, and cut the approaching at anymore or we fire arrows into the tops of your heads and make castanets of your testicles already.”
Heh. Indeed.
If Martha Coakley loses it is because Obama, 90% of the congressional Dems, and Martha are just as beholden to the corporations as any rethug.
If Martha loses it is because the Dems have fucked up healthcare reform while sucking up to Lieberman and Snowe, who played the hell out of HarryfuckingReid and the Preznit.
If Martha loses it is because she is a lousy campaigner (when she bothered to campaign). Also.
Those are just a few of the lowlights of why Martha may lose. I could go on and on.
I don’t personally give a flying fuck if Martha loses. If I lived in Massachusetts, I doubt I would be able to force myself to vote for Martha.
P.S. Sorry, I’m just not in a snarky mood this morn.
You’re absolutely right: it’s all our fault that the people who run the Democratic party failed to pay attention to a crucial election and therefore didn’t intervene until the last second. I can’t remember whether it was TBogg himself or one of the commenters who told the DNC “Ferchrissake, don’t nationalize this election, don’t send in any hotshot campaign doctors to help Coakley, devote as few resources as possible to it, and be sure to ignore the whole thing until it’s too late!”
If Coakley loses it won’t be because of a handful of political junkies commenting on blogs, it will be because the leadership of the Democratic party failed to do its fucking job.
Raise your curling irons in the air! FREE BIRD!!!

“Check it out where you guys are actually calling for her defeat in favor of a dyed-in-the-wool teabagger. I’ve been reading you, Tbogg, for about eight years, but as of today, I will never again……”
Hmmm….really.?
I’m pretty sure TBogg is firmly in the ” put a clothes pin on your nose and vote for the smelly Dem ” camp..
If you think TBogg has encouraged folks to vote for the Repuke or not vote at all, perhaps you should provide us with a link…
Note TBogg is not Gregory Martin and Coakley is not a Bill (HCR).
If I’m not mistaken ,TBogg’s position is similar to Digby’s….as follows:
” And if you can live with the idea of voting in a Republican party in the thrall of extremists that make Bush and Cheney look like Rockefeller Republicans, I suppose that might be the way to go. I won’t judge you, but I am personally unwilling to put the world through any more of this failed right wing experiment at the moment. ….. They are still in the process of doubling down on their radical agenda at a time when the economy is still in ruins, the effects of globalization are being fully felt, the planet is in peril and about to reach a tipping point, and a radical fundamentalist movement is trying to blow people up. I don’t think the world can take any more of the right’s prescriptions for these problems right now: Lindsay Graham is considered too liberal and neo-Hooverism is their economic program. Yes, the Democrats are corrupt and inept. But the other side is batshit insane.

That’s SENATOR HarryfuckingReid to us mere mortals, if you please.
Remember, with these prize winning whiners & wankers, etiquette is infinitely more important than substance or integrity. Hence, when they shortly shove this butt-ugly gangrenous stump of a health care reform package down your throat, they’ll want you to appreciate the excellent wordsmithing and marvel at the pomp & circumstance involved in them actually passed something, rather than complain loudly about the exquisitely refined bullshit artistry & complete sell-out that is contained within the final product.
And then, by golly, they’ll have the chutzpah to come asking you to vote for them again, because “the alternative” is too scary to contemplate.
Also…
Note to Lori @#14.
In that same post , Digby points out that with the TeaBaggers spiting the Right , the upcoming primaries will be a great opportunity to get some actual Progressives elected…
“And guess what? We are in the most favorable year for primary challenges in recent memory. The insane teabaggers aren’t going to allow any rational Republicans to run and the anti-uncumbent fever is going to be as high as it’s been since 1994. The Democratic base has an energetic activist faction, the netroots can raise money and there is a burning desire to show the party establishment that they cannot take liberals for granted. It’s a perfect environment for successful primary challenges. ”
In other words it might be the wrong time to quit….We could use your help.
Guess you’ll be turning in your TBogg Secret Decoder Ring any day now.
Heh.
Ha, ha.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
C’mon, dontcha’ know its always Clinton’s fault.
You’ll be missed…
Well, at least as soon as we figure out who you were, anyway.
Sorry. I forgot that the more irrelevant Lieberman becomes, the more important it is to keep him in the Democratic caucus! Cause that’s how sausage is made, or something like that.
“I was a lifelong Democrat until
9/11anti-Hillary DemocratsTbogg changed everything.”If Martha loses it is because of teh awsum power of the Whitey Tape.
If Coakley loses it won’t be because of a handful of political junkies commenting on blogs, it will be because the leadership of the Democratic party failed to do its fucking job.
As near as I’ve been able to discern, for the last 25 years the job of the Democratic Party has been to lose elections and enable right-wing agendas. Judging from the record, they’ve been fantastically successful except for those times when the GOP trips them up by running the entire fucking country into the ditch. That makes the voters angry and confused, forcing them to vote DEM whether the Dems want that or not. It happened in 1992, and again in 2006 and 2008.
But otherwise, it’s been MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!111!!!!! for Marshall Wittman and the DLC.
Umm, does TBogg have to put a snark tag on everything he writes? Your post here seems to indicate you are accepting TBogg’s post straight. It isn’t.
If Martha Coakley loses it will because I’ve gotten seven robocalls from her campaign today.
She’s an ambitious climber with prosecutor’s eyes who took her election for granted as did the rest of the (largely) corrupt Democratic party in the Commonwealth.
Scott Brown, however, is pretty and he’s got a truck.
The Democratic Party are truly the Generals to the Republicans’ Globetrotters.
