Just to bring everyone up to date, Fenway is doing fine.
He is home and things are getting back to normal, or as normal as they can be with an empty spot on the couch on Sunday and a hole in our hearts. Fenway is back to eating and drinking in no small part due to the efforts of the wonderful doctors and technicians at his veterinary clinic to whom we are very thankful.
He’ll be on medication for the next week or so, but we think we are over the hump.
Yay each and every one of us.
Once again, and I have to keep saying this, thank you all for your concern. We all miss Beckham terribly.

So glad to hear about Fenway — we were hoping he would be better.
Thanks for the update, glad to hear it.
Fenway is such a poser! [But in the cute, precocious, entertaining way...]
Glad to hear he and you are all doing well. When my in-laws have lost Scotties over the years, they’ve always been further saddened by the surviving 1-2 dogs reactions, and by how long they remain down.
On the bright side, Fenway will never lose sleep over living in Bizarro-Roberts-Court world. Solace where we can find it, I guess.
And thank you for letting us know.
Love, kisses and a big doggie slobber to the Tbogg household. If there is anything that can compare to the love of a dog, outside of the human family, I don’t know of it.
Thanks for taking the time to update us. (((HUGS))
Thank you for letting us know, and love to all.
Good to hear–I’m glad Fenway is feeling better. I hope all of you feel better soon.
Thanks for the very good news. He will help take care of the two-leggers in the family.
i am so glad Fenway is on the mend
So glad to hear this news. Been worried about that big lump o pup.
Ear skritches and hugs respectively as they are appreciated, and good thoughts to all at TBogg Manor.
Remember to put the doggie gate up to the roof. Fenway’s balance wont be quite as elegant as before, with all the drugs and stuff.
He’s apparently feeling well enough to pose in a manner that shows off what I take to be a bandage over where he got some shots or tests. “Sympathy, dammit!”
Here’s to many more years of cute bastarddom…
Finally! Some good news. Time to bury last week in the trashbin of history.
“Fenway is back to eating and drinking…” And if he’s pooping, he’s gotta be outta the woods.
Hope he’s not missing Beckham too much.
Great news. Go Fenway! Shine on, you crazy basset.
Go team!
Glad to hear that Fenway is doing well.
As another long time dog friend my heart goes out to you. We have 3, now. Two of them are “long legged Bassets” Saint Bernards. Last time I lost one of my friends I cried for a full 10 hours, not even the loss of my parents hit me that hard. I am so glad Fenway is going to be well. Your family truly has become part of my family thanks to these ‘tube thingys’.
My wife and I wish you strength in your sorrow and love and hope for the future. Give Fenway a scritch for us .
w3ski
Perhaps the only good news coming from the US these days.
Enjoy.
This is great news.
I figured that you would not tell us the status until he was completely out of the woods.
The longer I waited, the worse it appeared.
But in any event, he’s good. Congratulations!!!
Wolcott sent his condolences on his site, if you didn’t notice.
A word of pity for your future basset. Fenway came into the T-Bogg house with Satchmo, The Old and Wise, and stumpy, grump-faced (though sweet) Beckham. Unnamed future basset will have to compete with leggy supermodel Fenway. A strong basset ego will be required. (Redundancy noted).
Jeez, I take off for a long weekend and all hell breaks loose. A belated condolence for Beckham. I started reading your blog right before his “Green Period”. Glad to see Fenway is getting better. Did you ever find out what went through them?
I’m figuring the bandage is over his hospital IV site. And yes, he does appear to want us to notice and feel sorry, give him comfort, food, more food, still more food…. It’s The Way of the Basset. I’m more concerned about his mental state; how is he taking Beckham’s loss? When our beloved Maui went to the Bridge, Molokai went nuts. We had to get another Basset (Maggie) quicker than we were really ready for because Molokai was so distraught. And then she turned out to be a no-nonsense dog who won’t let Molokai boss her the way Maui did. Sometimes you get what you wish for, and it isn’t quite what you expected….
VERY relieved to hear Fenway is doing better!
Veterinarians are unsung heroes – human physicians only have to deal with one species, and can ask their patients questions. Vets can’t ask “where does it hurt?” How long has it been bothering you?” and “Did you start feeling bad before or after you ate that dirty sock?”
Glad to hear that Fenway’s on the mend. Hearts – they take longer. Sending loving thoughts to all that abide in Casa de TBOGG.
So glad to see that Fenway is doing better. Still thinking of you and all the Boggs. Peace.
Very relieved to hear Fenway is home, and feeling better.
I, too, wonder about what’s going through his head: it’s not just that Beckham is gone, but that he as well as Beckham was stricken with whatever-it-was. He knows that he and Beckham were both sick enough to have to go to the Bad Place, and he knows that only he came home. All dogs dislike going to the doctor to some extent, but Fenway’s likely to associate the vet with really bad juju from now on.
Extra reassurances and lovies will be balm to Fenway’s soul as much as to the human TBoggses.
I’m sending as much of both psychically as I can :)
Great to hear Fenway has turned the corner medically. I will be bummed about Beckham for a long time. I am really sorry to have caught up to his passing.
I have 2 Bassets a 7 year old boy and a 2.75 year old girl.
Welcome news.
It’s even worse than that: animals instinctively avoid sending out signals that they’re sick or injured, because that gets you eaten in the jungle. So vets have to guess. They also go through a grueling admission process–there’s only about 20 vet schools in the whole country, and it’s supposedly harder to get into than med school, and from what I hear the pay isn’t great. They really are heroes.
What wonderful news after such bad news…thank you, thank for taking the time to give an update.
excellent news. so relieved for your family. oldnslow and I have been holding you all in our hearts this week. thanks for letting us know
That’s welcome news.
Thank god that Fenway is recovering! I’ve been checking in repeatedly all weekend, hoping for an update, and the silence didn’t seem to bode well. None of you have strayed far from my thoughts, especially when I deal with my two clowns.
Good news about Fenway and we were all so sorry to hear about Beckham in this family.
Just finished giving our oversized basset an extra hug. For maybe the 20th time today.
Like the news of Beckham, I am very late to this thread due to being out of town. Just want to add I’m very happy to hear that Fenway is on the mend and is home with his family.
Also, that is a lovely shot of the beastie. I look forward to many more.
