Apparently we are all Jane Hamsher now.
If you want to concern troll me about her [Connie Saltonsall] not being able to win the general, I don’t care. Health care is the signature Democratic legislation for decades, and it is in trouble because of this jackass [Stupak] running against a settled part of the party platform. There has to be some concept of accountability in the caucus
Boy, Beaver, wait’ll the guys Rahm finds out you were hanging around with a girl. They‘ll really give you the business.

Well, shit. I had promised myself not to give any Democrats any of my hard-earned money anytime soon, but this good woman may just have earned herself some turkee.
Meanwhile: instead of screwing around alienating everyone to the left of Kent Conrad and letting the DCCC give Bent Nelson a cool half million for being a traitor, perhaps Rahm Emanuel should SFTU for a bit — or get busy ‘enforcing the very basic level of party discipline” by telling idiots like Stupak to get with the program or get out. But of course, I keep forgetting that Rahm’s program isn’t the Democratic program — it’s Rahm’s very own platform of epic fail.
What does Grover Norquist think of this? I mean, we can’t have meaningful reform without talking to people who want no government at all, can we?
Nothing like laying down with dogs, because we all know that if Jane Hamsher doesn’t like the health care bill the rest of you can just fuck off until America bows to her demands!
Can we waterboard Rahm yet? I understand he’s worse the Goebbels, Himmler and Pat Boone combined.
Well, I don’t really have any money, being a paid librarian and stuff, but, like, Wally, do you really think I oughta give this girl some money? I mean, so, the Republicans won’t tell on me and stuff, will they? I don’t want to get in trouble.
The bill. Pass it you fuckin ‘tards!!!
Leave John Cole ALOOOOONE!!!!!11!!!one!!
tear
and letting the DCCC give Bent Nelson a cool half million
I think that would be the DSCC, no? Nevertheless, the poor lady calling for the DCCC didn’t even get to her spiel when I told her ‘take my name off the list and never call again.’
Thank you, ActBlue.
John Cole takes notice:
yeah, sorry — i always get my douchebag acronyms all mixed up.
It’s not the Beav you have to worry about. It’s Eddie. He’s the dick.
At last, that rarest of circumstances – Democrats putting aside differences to unite in pursuit of a common cause!
To be sure, that cause is to defeat a sitting Democratic Congressman, but hey, you take what you can get around here!
She doesn’t seem to have much of an online presence….yet.
(someone’s parked her domain for her: http://www.conniesaltonstall.com )
Her contact details are here: http://www.michigandems.com/elected.php?id=353
Meanwhile, apparently she’s writing letters: http://bit.ly/aPH1K1
This “sitting Democratic congressman” is not much of a Democrat. In particular, he is holding up health insurance reform for the entire country on the basis of a policy completely in opposition to a basic of the Democratic platform. A basic Democratic tenet for more than 30 years.
That’s what I call a non-Democrat worth defeating. At least if the one doing the defeating is a real Democrat.
Oh, I’m on board with it. Stupak would be much more at home in the Gay Old Party anyhow.
“Can we waterboard Rahm yet? I understand he’s worse the Goebbels, Himmler and Pat Boone combined.” Who knew? Too bad it took a sleepover with Grover, and some Beaver getting roughed to finally see it. I guess that’s what they mean by Chicago Style.
Curious that Howard Dean seemingly has no voice in this administration or in the Not-the-Republican Party at large. It’s almost as if no one really wants to actually, ya’ know, change the status quo. A real cynic might think that we’ve established a near-hereditary class of Mandarins who’ve exempted themselves from every last thing that the rest of us confront in our daily lives.
Balloon Juice has adopted a “shut up, DFHs Hamsher/Kucinich/Moore” line about any criticism of “health care reform” and Rahm Emmanuel. A blog run by a Reagan-loving “former” conservative who hates divisive progressives and whines about his post-operative pain. Cole will probably get what he wants, some piss-poor health care bill that only a former Republican with a warm spot for Saint Ronnie could love. Stupak’s antedeluvian rider is not the only part of these bills that flies in the face of real reform: Cole in his conversion has embraced the right to choose but not the right to have universal affordable health care. It’s halfway halfwits like John Cole in the Democratic caucus who have ensured we won’t have sensible health care reform in my lifetime.
Yeah John Cole was slipping dangerously close to endorsing the evil hippie tactics with that one.
I like John Cole. He has a nice blog, the best part is the fonts for commenting, they’re large, legible, and the site is well-designed.
I’m entirely serious.
Politically, he makes perfect sense to me if you consider that he was not all that long ago a Republican, and even when blogging already. He hates the “wingnuts” with a fury unmatched online, the kind that only a jilted lover can really generate.
I get the impression sometimes that this leads to “Just pass SOMETHING so the Republicans don’t win!” attitude however. More so in many of the commenters he attracts than him.
A woman called very early from the DCCC this morning. She got an earful that was something like, “Not until the House enacts single-payer or at least Public Option, beeyotch!” That was fun. But they won’t take me off the list, I’m sure.
I ranted to them in 2006 and have not had a call since.
yes yes. it’s the BJers who saw to it that the votes weren’t there for your magic pony health care plan. they’re the ones to blame – not the blue dogs, Lieberman, or Harry-Hardball-is-impolite-Reid. no, it’s John Cole.
Oh, piss off. Seriously, piss off.
“screaming”
un effing believable
Since when has the netroots been opposed to primarying any asshole democrat that happens to particularly piss us off? Admittedly, Mi 1st district has a PVI of R+3, but that’s not so red that a primary wouldn’t shake him up a bit, especially if his opponent isn’t a waste of space and has a buttload of cash.
Oh, and yes, the Senate bill is a huge corporate giveaway… well, duh. Everything the Senate does is a huge corporate giveaway, that’s how the senate works. It was clear from the beginning that that was the only thing that would ever pass out of our House Of Lords.
What Dennis said.
humboldtblue is a long-time commenter on this blog. Who the hell are you?
Yes, indeedy. The “Where Is Howard?” story is, I think, one of the great Untolds of the year. The guy develops the 50-state strategy to help get Obama elected and then–poof!–disappears from everywhere, it seems, but the Rachel Maddow show. WTF, over?
“Magic pony health plan”? Ever been to another industrialized country, Cleek? One with universal health care? Nothing magical about it. Other countries have their “blue dogs,” and Liebermans and Reids but managed to get it done. Cole has no votes but he also has no commitment to universal health care. His politics seems to depend on finding people he likes and defending them until he decides he doesn’t like them anymore. I prefer deciding what you think is important and right and then supporting those who advance those ideas and opposing those who impede them.
Have you ever been to another industrialized country with universal health care that also has a Senate? Or one that gives a representative of 500,00, the same vote as the representative of 6 million? Did any these countries institutionalize employer-based health systems in response to a WWII wage freeze? No? Well, that’s where your analogy goes out the window, and the magic pony comes in. BTW- Your personal hard-on for John Cole has become tiresome.
Well, I thought it was funny anyway.
Good grief, why do we even bother with all this separate flags and passports and languages and whatnot? It’s a small world after all, amirite? Try putting down the firepup koolaid for a second, grownups are talking.
