Again, sorry.
Without trying to get everyone shook up about it, I spent the evening in emergency with Fenway who may or may not have pneumonia. He’s spending the night in the hospital getting oxygen, having x-rays taken, and getting fluids and antibiotics.
As they say: “More details when they become available…”
I’m beginning to believe that I am the worst pet owner on Earth. Man, this has been one brutal year.
I did have a chance to read this (courtesy of caepan) which kind of cheered me up.

Gulp.
I was on my way over to share a new photo of Coulter, but inflicting that at this time would be in poor taste.
I’m so sorry to hear Fenway isn’t well again. Is this related to the earlier episode? Will cross fingers and toes for the little guy, and for all of you.
The best pet owners on earth wait in the emergency room and blame themselves needlessly. It’s what good people do. (Which is why Republicans are forbidden from having pets.)
Best comment over there so far:
Throw his ass to the lions
“I’m beginning to believe that I am the worst pet owner on Earth”? Cut it out, or I’m going to send Robin Williams over to your house to say “It’s not your fault” over and over again in an unconvincing Boston accent.
Oooooh. {{{{{{{{{{ Li’l Fella. }}}}}}}}
Best wishes to Fenway.
And yes, I also read that Tebow piece and it brought a smile to my face.
God didn’t help ol’ Timmy too much on his score on the test either.
Oh,rats. Give him a big hug and a hit of oxygen from all of us, and ix-nay on the elf-say ame-blay.
What on earth?? Maybe you should see Tim about some steroids for the boys. Get well soon Fenway
Oh, man, hang in there, Fenway. You too, T.
Gosh, I can only hold you all in the light. The best.
Speedy recovery to Mr. Fenway!
Oh my dears.
Poor Fenway. Poor Tbogg and Mrs. Tbogg and the L&T Casey. And poor Wembley, who I’m sure is confused by the sudden disappearance of his big brother. Hope everything works out and the household can get back to what passes for normal for you. And Tbogg, you may need to draw on your childhood and find a good exorcist.
I have read and wept through the basset chronicles for a long time without ever registering to comment, but this is too much. All the best, healing wishes from me and my 2 droolers to the tboggs- he WILL be fine!
My brother, who recently added a seven-week old Golden Lab to his family, said, “It’s like having a two-year old kid. I’m exhausted!”. The pooches can consume your life at times, but they’re worth it. My best wishes for Fenway.
In case you missed it, TBogg, this headline should make you smile:
“Sarah Palin Inks Deal for Alaska-Themed Television Show”
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/03/23/sarah-palin-inks-deal-for-alaska-themed-television-show/?icid=webmail_plugin_news_en_us
When it comes to the world of snark, you lead a charmed life, TBogg. The Discovery Channel obviously has a sense of humor.
Oh, poor Fenway.
Another vote for not your fault.
Get well, you handsome hound.
As for Tebow, after all the bible thumpers defended him I was extremely gratified to see someone quote Matthew about Jesus’ opinion on public prayer (hint: He’s against it). If only they’d crack the Book open and read it instead of just slapping the damn thing they’d be a lot better off.
Hang tough.
Get well soon Fenway.
Dude. It has been a tough year for you and your gang pet-wise. You’re doing all you can and Fenway knows that. Hang in there.
Best wishes to the family TBogg. I’ll be pulling for Fenway’s speedy recovery.
My ex went through recurring bouts of pneumonia for a couple of years. It takes a long time to get it whipped for good.
Hope Fenway feels better soon.
Crappy luck. But at least you aren’t a teabagger.
Poor Fenway. Get well, noble basset.
On Tebow – isn’t that a timed test? So God’s Other Son wants to waste time praying at the beginning? But to make it fair (to him) he wants everybody to consume that time with him, or something?
How come these godbotherers always miss that part of Bible where Jesus told them to pray in private?
No no no no no no no no! Not our Fenway. You WILL get better and we Will continue to read about your escapades and poop.
If long distance vibes work, I’m sending out a double dose. Wishing the family well, hoping this all blows over soon, TBogg.
Poor Fenway. Get well, big boy.
Sorry TBoggs.
My better half and I volunteer a couple of thousand hours each year for our local humane society and even though you guys are having a really rough patch, you are far from being “the worst pet owner”. Trust me. We see some absolutely sickening situations and nearly continuously foster some of these animals at home until they’re ready for adoption. Hang in there.
My doG bless the dog (and Shakira’s ass while we’re at it). Please bow your head…and poop on the floor in solidarity, so to speak.
That’s why, if I’m a coach or owner, I don’t want to draft Tebow. Because I don’t want the entire fucking country interpreting every loss as God’s wrath against an imperfectly worshipful quarterback. He’s three losing games away from sacrificing a lamb in the end zone.
I am sending waves of good energy out to Fenway. Such metaphysical cruelty-upon-pup can not be tolerated.
Best wishes for Fenway.
You are not the worst pet owner. My cat is the worst pet owner. He thought he had me trained but I pissed him off for some reason that I can’t even begin to fanthom, not having a tiny, malicious, resentful, devious feline mind. So he peed in the felt-lined silverware box.
Furry little bastard.
No. We do not want him.
Thinking good thoughts at Fenway and the Boggs.
Get well soon, Fenway!
Get well soon, Fenway … there’s been way too much doggie sad around these parts lately.
And for the record TBogg, only ONE of theses statements can be true:
“I spent the evening in emergency with Fenway who may or may not have pneumonia. He’s spending the night in the hospital getting oxygen, having x-rays taken, and getting fluids and antibiotics.”
OR
“I’m beginning to believe that I am the worst pet owner on Earth.”
Damn…best wishes for a speedy recovery to the big guy.
Speedy recovery wishes to Fenway, and good wishes to the TBoggs.
Blessings on Fenway and all in the TBogg household.
JHFC. I am so so sorry to hear Fenway is back in the hospital. What *was* that bug he and Beckham caught??
Adding my good thoughts to everyone else’s, that the boy comes home healthy very soon – also re-re-reconfirming your status as Damn Fine Doggy Daddy. Please don’t blame yourself. Your pups get more love and have better lives than 75% of humanity, never mind other dogs. Blame the microbes – maybe the breeders, as purebreds generally are notorious for having serious health problems – but please don’t blame yourself.
It’s hard because you care.
Shit happens.
Here is to a speedy recovery for Mr. Fenway, and to all at casa Tbogg.
Hm, confusing thread – the thread wisdom seems to be to spread black goop under Fenway’s eyes and write a favorite verse on it (isn’t “bless the beasties” in there somewhere?), or maybe not.
If it’s any consolation about being the worst pet owner, my cat has roundworm and giardia, and probably has had it for months (and we didn’t know).
god effing damnit !
(((Casa TBogg)))
Best wishes and thoughts for the mischievous but charming Fenway, prince-among-dogs. And for the whole TBogg family.
Been way too much death, disease and destruction. Doesn’t someone have a two-week timeshare in Cancun they can lease out to these guys? We could all use the break.
Wow, tough year for you folks on the Basset front. Hope he gets over that soon. I’ve often wondered if Bassets would be more susceptible to lung type ailments because they seems to be dogs that are large, but not particularly active.
All of us in the edub household, including Willa the Wonder Hound, send our love and support.
Get well soon, Fenway!
Best wishes for Fenway. Jesus what a run of bad luck.
Aw, poor Fenway. Major good vibes heading your way. You are not a bad pet caregiver, TBogg. You’re doing everything you can for Fenway. Keep us updated.
NEW RULE FOR T-BOGG: You, sir, are the only sick puppy allowed in your house. Pats and hugs to Fenway and an extra treat for Wembley.
Oh, TBogg and family!
((((((TBogg et al.)))))
(((((Fenway)))))
Sending good thoughts and vibes your way, and Fenway’s way.
You are NOT.NOT.NOT a bad pet owner!
Bad pet owners are not familiar with the concept of pet emergency rooms at all. Bad pet owners do not evere blame themselves.
Best wishes – I’ll be carrying you all with me in my heart until he’s out of danger, even though I own devious, sneaky, callous felines myself.
(And I seem to smell pee somewhere…..BBL)
Glad I could bring some indirect cheer to the House of TBogg. :-)
And as someone who lost two most excellent kittehs in less than a week back in January, I can wholly sympathize with what’s been going on. Hugs and assorted best wishes to everyone at TBogg Central.
(((((caepan))))
don’t know you, but, boy, have I been there. From one beloved-animal lover to another.
Hope he’s ok. I’ve heard that purebreds have more health problems than mutts.
As someone who would rather spend time with my dogs rather than most two-legged creatures, I know exactly what you’re going through. As for being the worst pet owner on the planet…some of my neighbors are far more qualified for that Albatross than you. Then again, Cruella de Vil already has a lock on that one.
You have had a truly crappy run of luck with the puppehs. Crossed fingers, prayers and purrs coming your way from Savannah. (Usually our kittehs do not feel kindly towards members of the canine persuasion, but since yours don’t bark at them they send purrs. And Delilah offered to share her catnip mouse.)
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Fenway.
We lost one of our three felines this morning to (apparently) a stomach tumor that had been asymptomatic until it perforated the lining, he didn’t survive the emergency surgery. So we are sad. It’s tough losing the little guys,
{{{{PaminBB}}}}
Have you consider asking Tebow to pray for you & the pups?
Couldn’t hurt, and cheaper than the emergency room.
Of course then you’d have to cut back on the most delicious snark on the planet, but worth it, I’d guess.
So,like, do they make multivitamins with anti-oxidants and emergen-c stuff for doggies? If they do, you need to be giving them to your d-oh-gees. Hugs and kisses to the TDoggs.
Oh, my deepest condolences to you and your loved ones. I’m so sorry to hear this. I’m going to give my boys (cats) extra lovin’ in honor of your beloved journeying to the other side.
Toes crossed for Fenway. Sympathy for everybody.
And condolences to PaminBB.
OT, my cat’s been super friendly lately. She hops up on my lap and everything. It’s just what I was hoping for when we got her from the shelter. She will, of course, receive extra pets soon.
