Sorry for being so late, the L&T Casey and I went out for sushi and we got caught up watching Kansas State/Xavier and Casey is going back to school on Sunday…so you guys had to suffer.
Fenway is doing much better thankyewverymuch. His catheter came out this afternoon and, as I type this, he’s bouncing around with Wembley fighting over mrs TBogg’s underwear (don’t ask) so the world, for the moment, is getting back to normal….whatever that is. Below, Fenway looking pathetic in his crate before we went to the vet and then with Wembley after we got home. And, as adorable and innocent as the second shot looks, I should point out that Wembley is chewing on Fenways ear, and not in an endearing way.
One last thing: thanks to all of you for your good wishes for the boys. I appreciate the PayPal offers to help with basset medical maintenance issues, but I’m not comfortable with that. All I ask of you is that you continue your cult-like devotion to me which, were it lavished upon anyone else, I would probably find it disturbing if not downright creepy.
Fruit bats!

His catheter came out this afternoon
Welp, if nothing else could get my sympathy, that certainly did.
First, what happened to Fenway’s paw??? Did I miss an update? And, most importantly, will it be green when the bandage comes off?
So glad to hear he’s better.
Second shot: Love!
I am so glad that Fenway is starting to feel better. Hope the penguin nebulizing is going as well as can be expected. And that second picture is too funny–Wembley missed his big brother while he was gone. Fenway looks like he’s getting ready to bare his teeth and snarl at the little tyke.
All I ask of you is that you continue your cult-like devotion to me which, were it lavished upon anyone else, I would probably find it disturbing if not downright creepy.
Hey, better you than Ayn Rand. Or Megan McArdle. Or Ann Althouse. (Shudder)
Poor, sweet boys. Wembley’s chewing? Really? It looks so sweet….Is Wembley over his kennel cough, then? Boy, I can’t imagine how you nebulize a dog….let alone manage/remove a catheter! Eeew. Poor all of you.
L&T Casey must be really enjoying this visit, huh? Poor kid; all the focus is on the dogs…well, you did take her out tonight. That’s good.
Hope all continuues to improve at your casa. I wasn’t really expecting any basset blogging tonight; thanks for feeding our fetish, er, cult.
Even with his ear in Wembley’s mouth I’m guessing Fenway is
very happy to be home.
Re: the tipjar.
You are a very honorable man Tbogg.
No problem
Mr. ApplewhiteTbogg, my tracksuit and running shoes are neatly placed under my bunk and I’m just waiting for the sign—although I would prefer to take my balls with me on the spacecraft.SO glad to hear that Fenway is feeling better !! you, your family and your bank account deserve a crisis-free month or 2
as for that second pic, it looks like Wembley is doing what he needs to do to make sure his big brudder doesn’t go off without him again …
Ahhhh. I didn’t come around earlier because I really didn’t expect TNBB this week. But I see that you are finally admitting that you do all this in order to keep us slavering at your doorstep, awaiting your next command. Count me as another of your followers, present and ready to take up whatever mission you assign us.
Good to see that Fenway is back home and doing better, but somebody keep that little bastard Wembley away from his beautiful ears. Please.
I’m pretty sure the cult-like devotion around here is to the bassets.
I’m so glad the canines are on the road to recovery. Nothing is sicker than a sick dog; they look so pitiful and they can’t tell you where it hurts.
I love that second photo. Ears! Nom nom nom.
Have a good weekend with your daughter and here’s hoping the hounds get better every day.
If I recall my TDogg lore, Beckham would occasionally nom the ears of St. Satchmo, who endured it with his usual otherworldly patience.
Glad your boyz are back together and on the mend. Did you and the L&T bring some sushi home for them?
Lunchtime is right. Our devotion is to the Bassets. You just provide comic relief.
Dare I say that I am developing a fondness for the comments. You fruit bats feed off of each other and the result is
scaryhilarious.…continue your cult-like devotion to me which, were it lavished upon anyone else, I would probably find it disturbing if not downright creepy.
Sure, the bassets are cute and all, but my cult-like devotion is based on your proper use of the subjunctive mood in a hypothetical conditional, which disqualifies you from ever becoming a sportscaster.
Thirded
that second pic inspires nothing less than cult like devotion
but the humans are ok, too
I love Thursday Night Basset Blogging. Speedy recovery!
I think the bandage on the paw was to hold the IV in place.
That second shot restores my universe.
My cult-like devotion to you is based solely on the occasional, but highly anticipated, posts on Shakira’s ass and Salma’s boobs.
Bassets. Also.
Yes! It’s the subjunctive mastery!
So, both the guys are getting well? No more coughing for anybody? Proper pooping?
‘Enkew!
Lunchtime has it. We like Mr. Bogg okay, but it’s the bassets we adore.
Well, the bassets and the snark. It’s a heady mixture.
I don’t know if you all noticed, but Tiger Woods likes DP — dappled penis. Wonders never cease.
You? You think we are slavishly devoted to you? Silly man. Have you seen Mrs. TBogg’s gams? Add those gams with the dogs and you’re nothing more than the towel boy on an NRO cruise.
Cabana Boy Tbogg…I like it, I like it!
The 1st picture made me cry. The Ear of Despair.
Yay doggies!
Yay Mrs. Tbogg!
You? Go put your pants on.
Captions for 2nd picture:
Fenway: “I STILL have to put up with this idiot?”
Wembley: “Hey Fenway! Hey Fenway! Do that thing where you beat the crap out of me again! C’mon, please? Hey Fenway!”
You got it.
Hey now Wembly, no fair taking advantage of a sick puppy. And remember, paybacks! Because Fenway will remember…
More like fruit FLIES.
Aw, I’m glad that Fenway is on the mend. He looks a wee bit peeved at his younger bro in the second pic, though. I mean, can’t a puppeh recover in peace? Major vibes that both boys continue to get better. Damn. That’s a houseful of cuteness right there.
I don’t know if this will help with your (irrational) guilt (I’m a psychologist, so I can say that), but this has helped me with mine about my animals. I learned years ago as a zoo docent that animals have an instinctive need to cover up evidence that they are sick/hurting, because in the wild the sick/hurting/injured/aging animals are the ones that get eaten. Consequently, they actively try to act like nothing’s wrong, until it’s so bad they can’t keep up the pretense anymore. This DOES NOT mean you were oblivious or neglectful; you’re just up against biological imperatives. I’m so glad Fenway is better. You said Wembley had kennel cough; is he doing ok? (Looks like it in the pic.) And yes, in response to a previous commenter, I’m sure the bandage was for the IV.
Ooh, thanks for that. I lost my best-est, sweetest, wonderful-est kitteh a few months ago, and I’ve been asking myself if I overlooked signs and symptoms, and could’ve saved him if I had noticed something sooner.
Hope TBogg takes your words to heart, too. It makes much sense.
