The claim about the epithet being thrown 15 times does not, in fact, refer to that particular walk through the crowd, but to various encounters between AAs and the crowds throughout the few days previous to passage of the bill.

So the fact that no one has any probative video from that particular moment means absolutely nothing. Rather, the fact that the event was clearly being recorded, not only by two of the participants but by the national media, and after the previous incidents had surfaced to near-universal outrage, made any misbehavior in this particular instance very unlikely.

Also, it is difficult for video equipment to pick up individual voices in a crowd the way the human ear can. If the insulting individual is not facing toward the microphone and the camera is not as close to the individual being insulted as the insulter is, it’s unlikely that anyone could have caught it clearly enough to satisfy the deniers, especially since we all know they would claim it was doctored up anyway.

Finally, the vast majority of any amateur video taken on any of the non-press-covered occasions in question would have been taken by Tea Partiers, who are unlikely to release any proof of their compatriots’ indiscretions.
