Fenway’s still a pretty big bruiser compared to Wembley, I see. When are you going to start feeding that poor young’un more so he’ll fill out like his big brother has?
My Bassets respond in much the same way to anything going on outside. Molokai even likes to sit in the cat’s perch so he can get a better view. (Gracie the cat takes a very dim view of this.)
I do believe you just called Sarah Palin a dog. You insult you dogs and furthemore you do know what this means right? Lots of hatemail from spelling challenged Teabagger Palinistas. Ooooh, I get it now, you are busy at work and you are trying to create some easy posts from the hatemail you knew you would get from this post.
Just remember one shot of Boaty. Easy to be an escape guy when you’re that small. Picture a beagle mix that has the body shape of a basset. Now imagine him climbing a chain link fence with his back against Rose of Sharon and mulberry saplings. Moving along when things got a little shaky. You haven’t seen anything till you see a 45 lbs dog moving diagonally along the fence, off the ground for a good 10 minutes searching for a way out. Thanks for sharing, btw.
No disrespect, but I’m afraid that actual stalking requires a little higher activity level than is shown in them pics.
That is more like ogling. Is Boaty, ahem, a gentleman or a lady?
I know someone who’s a Scottie fancier, and I’ve learned from meeting her guys that Scotties also like to get up on a comfy but elevated window-side coign of vantage and monitor the hood closely. Whereas our Albert the Pug is strictly a floor-level observer, except when sitting in my sister’s lap in the car. Little flippy ears (approx. 1/16th the size of Bassett ears) flying in the breeze!
I also vote for a Boaty-Bassett playdate and moviemaking.
Too cute! We have Wembley’s brother!! We just adore him…. that is when he’s not tearing something up, like carpet. grrrrrrrrrr. Wished we could have gotten him when he was younger, he was 4 1/2 months old by the time we got him. Love your pictures!
Okay when you say “brother”….do you really mean BROTHER???? From his litter at Tait’s? When I went to pick Wembley up, Mr. Tait was going to keep a male and a female from the litter…both BIG, gorgeous puppies but he eventually put the male up for sale. Please tell me you are the ones that have him….that would be soooooo cool!
Yes! Wembley’s actual brother :-) Mr. Tait said he was going to keep him, but looked around and decided he didn’t need another stud. We live in SW Ohio. Husband drove up there and back in 1 day. He says he’ll never do that again!
We have a 3 yr. old basset named Wilson that contracted lymphoma and my husband bought Magoo, (I know, I know, not a real good name LOL)for me to try to help take my mind off of Wilson. We tried to change Magoo’s name to Murray, it just wasn’t taking. LOL But, yeah, I’ve got an account here at firedog under the name bassetlover. No posts yet, I really just wanted to see Wembley. :-)
I’m so excited!!! We sincerely thought about trying to find a way to buy him ourselves but it wasn’t in the cards. Magoo is an absolutely beautiful boy and it makes me so happy to know that he is still in the family! If you can, send pictures and we can post them on Basset Blogging…they will all be famous! Tom already sent me your email address (he can see it when he logs into the blog) so look for a message from us and we can keep in touch.
I’m so sorry about Wilson…they are never around long enough but as one goes they leave a spot in your heart for a new one to fill. I’m sure Magoo will be just the right medicine. Wembley and Fenway have certainly helped us in ways that they will never know. Look forward to hearing from you again!!! B.
Oooh, I’m the first to see the beautiful boys in noble profile? Kewl.
They do look handsome, even hard at work. I take it Boaty is outside the window somewhere?
Ever vigilant.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! Squeals in excitement!
Teh Boyz in Love!

Sorry, channeling my late grandmother here…

Sarah Palin has bassets stalking her?
Love these shots, especially Fenway showing Wembley how to straddle the bed and the bureau. Thurber-purebreds, these two.
Watch Boaty build a fence next. A big Palinite fence!
Should we try the veal?

What beautiful boys, and such good stalkers as well.
So where are the photos of Boaty??? Have a doggie play date and snap some pics, man.
It looks like they are stalking Bose-y The Sound System
I got yer Boaty right here
that photo of boaty with a priceless expression of wembley is one of my alltime favorites.
and looking at boaty, all i can think of is ‘bacon!bacon!bacon…BACON!’.
pleeeeeeeez arrange more playdates
“Mom! Boaty’s getting to play outside again!”
Love the boys! I second the Boaty play-date resquest (and taping the resulting hilarity).

Thanks.
he’s such a cutey
They care not a whit about Boaty – they’re stalking the gazelles!
