How we spent our blogger vacation
I see that everyone has been behaving themselves with the guest bloggers. I am very very proud of you all, so here is a basset picture from teh boys first day at the beach. If things go as planned we will have another Very Special Guest Blogger popping in this week. It will be like that Very Special Episode of Blossom. No. Not the one where Blossom had her first period. It will be better than that.

Hover bassets.
Hi, TBogg! Yay, a puppy fix! Hope you’re as happy as the boyz look. Keep enjoying your break.
Are you getting Six to guest blog? Don’t tease that kind of stuff and then not have it be her!
They don’t seem to miss us, the ungrateful boogers. Err, Boggers.
I gather no land-speed records are being broken here.
Looking good, TBogg.
::
We missed you t.
Jonah, however, did not.
Hot doggies!
Yay! Doggies! Your guests are doing well TBogg, but…
Lucky Wembley, there are no beaches in Pennsylvania!
Wembley is getting so big! Cutes!
Thanks for the Boggy doggy update.
Happy Daddy Day. And thanks for the pic. I was feeling a little touch of withdrawal.
The boys do look happy. But then again, what creatures wouldn’t enjoy a day on the San Diego beach?
when you bring them back they’ll be covered in oil
Bassets! What a treat. Ferrets are good, but bassets are better. Now you’ve got us all wondering who the new guest will be… Hmmph. I need my sleep on Sunday night…
But you’re forgiven because of PUPPEH PIX!
That picture brought a tear to my eye as Fenway wasn’t supposed to have to be the big brother yet. But he looks like he’s doing a fine job of it and Wembley looks like he adores Fenway. If that’s not true that’s okay, just don’t tell us. I like to have a few fantasies in my life.
Guest Bloggers have been teh fabulous. truly hope you are enjoying the sabblogital. thanks for puppehs
Glad you’re enjoying the boys. Maybe as much as we’re missing you! Take some extra time, you’ve more than earned it.
Love the temps, they have a feel for the place–just have to adjust for ferrets. Ferrets *do not equal* bassets. Love that Wembley is taking to the water like his older brother.
Also, too–a thought of love to lovely Beckham, taken too soon. He was beautiful and reminded me of a basset mix of mine.
To TBogg, enjoy the sun and beach! We’ll anxiously be here when you return!
And you are…?
Bassets are no better than Ferrets. They are just LOTS slower and more easily photographed doing something cute.
Yuo can’t even get a picture of something that moves so fast the humans it owns can’t see where it’s gone and make it wear a bell.
It appears Wembley has gotten rather large. Time for a new puppy.
Doggies! Yay! Ferrets are cute; but ferrets on Tbogg are sort of like riding a Vespa to a Grateful Dead concert.
First he goes away, now he posts teh puppies on a Sunday… what on earth is this world coming to?!?
Clearly, his surprise guest blogger is going to be BP’s sort-of-ex-CEO, Tony Hayward, coming to us fresh from the Isle of Wright… it’ll be teh awesome, can’t wait.
If this is TBogg’s way of rewarding us for being good blogees, I’m all for it.
Fenway’s back feet aren’t touching the water. Too funny. And Wembley’d better be careful making faces like that. Remember what your parents said: if you’re not careful you might freeze like that.
We know it’s true too because look at Mickey Kaus!
Btw, TBogg, I don’t know what the heck is behind our favourite bassets in the photo but it appears to be a large canid. Cue the Jaws music!
PS. I hope you and the fambly are having a great time not being near the computer/wingnuts.
If it’s Tony Hayward, I’m afraid we’re apt to be not very nice to the guest blogger.
Oh yeah, happy Dad’s day and I hope you and the fambly are having a good time.
Sheesh. I got greedy there with the puppies update and forgot my manners.
Ooooh! It’s the Bogg Bassett Boys! They are looking mighty fine as usual. Good to see ya drop in and say hey. Loving the replacements (I’m a MN gal, after all), loving the ferrets, cannot wait to see who the very special blogger this week will be. If it’s Cole, I will laugh my ass off.
Who’s TBogg?
Don’t ask, he’s got bassets that walk on water.
The Boyz look like an old married couple chatting as they walk the beach.
And how is it you manage to live near a beach that has no leash law?? Lucky.
I’m sure Fenway’s mouth is just looking funny because his lips are bouncing and he’s breathing hard but it looks like he’s talking to Wembley out of the side of his mouth. I have to hand it to you, those dogs look pretty fit. Does God give extra credit for being good dog people?
Those are two happy dogs. Sounds like it has been a good vacation for all.
A Very Special Episode of Blossom was an entry in the late, lamented Worst Possible Band Names thread at Table Talk, which is what I used to waste time on pre-blogging. A selection of our best work in that thread (which I started, dammit!) still apparently lives on in emails and one or two little-read Web pages:

Woof!
Hey, wouldn’t it be cool to see the guys each hump one of Tony Hayward’s legs?
Hilarious. Your work was not in vain.
Well, considering the Celtics got their Boston-bean asses handed to them last week and that’s the last we’ve seen of Jay, let’s hope the latest mystery blogger watched World Cup.
Good to see you’re doing okay! The blog’s been in pretty good hands.
Looks like fun! The guests have been great, but we miss you, so come home when you’re all vacationed out.
It’s like Rocky and Apollo in Rocky III.
The Boyzzzz look so joyous out there on the beach. How do you not get stopped constantly by folks wanting to admire the puppehs?
My vote for new mystery, guest blogger is the LandT Casey! If she has, as I suspect, inherited the snark gene, then THAT would be a great surprise.
les garcons de plage
That is so awesome, I think TBogg should use it for all his summer bassets at the beach photos.
Ahh, the boys! That pic just gives me a carefree summery feeling alll over, and that’s a feeling that, for various tedious reason having to do with low finance, has been in mighty short supply chez us the last couple of summers. Thank you, Boggfamily! Thank you, doggehs! As all have said, the guest blogging’s been fine, but you all aren’t exactly replaceable.
That’s some good weird creativity, Steve. And they say the modern generation can’t think critically.
There are several there that I would be proud to attach to my band if I had one, or could play any instrument, etc. “Nixon Prayer Session”… “Ontogeny Recapitulates Yo’ Mama”… and my fave, “Too Idealistic for the Oneida Community”. Bliss! You’d get a nice acronym with that last one. “TIFTOC“.
I read “My Giant Mantits” at first as “My Giant Mantis”, which is also good and perhaps subtler? Maybe I think that because I’m a girl.
Oh, Wembley is smiling at last! And getting advice from big brudder Fenway. What a treat. Ferrets are interesting, but these boyz are our special faves. Thanks for popping by with the puppeh pix.
