If Bob think that Byrd’s youthful Klan membership and racism is damning, does he think Strom Thurmond was damned, too? Does he think Robert E Lee was damned? I’d like to hear him speak on this matter.

Now wait a cotton pickin’ minute, Tbogg. It says right here in my Texas-approved US History textbook that ‘confederates’ were righteous defenders of the constertushun’ and Newt Gingrich and Phyllis Schafly, riding white horses, defended the true ‘Murica by beating back the invading commy hoards and gay legions led by the blood thirsty Barney the Frank and King George Soros. Also, evolution sucks.

And in contrast to all of his rightwing detractors, Byrd went on to publicly denounce the Klan and racists, becoming an outspoken advocate of civil rights and affirmative action. which I suspect is what really pisses them off.

Yeah, I concur. It was that introspection, that ability to perhaps challenge one’s thoughts and actions in a meaningful way, based on facts and an evolving (!) perspective that went beyond one’s internal confines that pisses them off.

It would have been so much easier to hang on to the not-REALLY-racist shtick while keeping your lawn jockeys polished, continuing to spew about Dionysus v. Apollo or some such crap instead of leaving that tired tripe behind, calling yourself a “youstabee” because you’re now too afraid to act like a fucking patriot and liberal, continuing in one’s attempt to milk/force feed the term “bobo” into the vernacular and not inadvertently wearing it yourself, all the while resurrecting your fav one dead philospoher… no, that would be weak.

Ah, the list goes on and I just piss myself off more and more.

As I read that first paragraph I thought, “Gosh that sounds just like how TBogg would describe the man who set up a fund to restore his lost barbecue.

Rather ironic for a guy who labels himself a confederate and proudly shows the Stars and Bars on his website, to claim Byrd will be going to hell for his views – I guess he’s resigned himself to this fate.

I know Bob is bitter that Byrd grew to renounce his racist views thereby undermining his own but, have no fear Bob! It’s obvious to most normal people that your on-board intelligence will never overcome your emotional dwarfism.
