Official Republican Negro Michael Steele had a very bad, not so good, what’chu talkin’ ’bout Willis week this past week and many Very Influential Conservatives like Bill Kristol and Erick “Son of Erick Erickson ” Erickson and Daddy’s Little Deferment were all, “RNC Chairman, please” and so conservatives are already looking for Michael Steele’s replacement even before his body lies a moulderin’ in the grave.
Since the RNC Chairman’s job is to be responsible for :
“…communicating through the media, to convey the party’s position and its ideas and opinions on policy and current events.”
…we think Kevin Williamson (not the guy who did Dawson’s Creek, but this guy) has a really super awesome bitchin’ idea and everyone should listen to him a lot :
Re: Steele and the RNC: Allow me to chime in with my usual observation on this subject: This is a job for Sarah Palin. Palin would be a much better RNC chairman than presidential candidate or freelance kingmaker. She’d raise tons of money and help recruit good candidates, i.e., she’d excel at doing the things Steele should have been doing instead of appointing himself Republican pundit-at-large.
A Chairman Palin would help set the right tone for the Republican party without having to get herself entangled in the minutiae of policy-development, which has not been her forte. Sure, she’d be polarizing, but so is Barack Obama, and these are polarized times. And it’s one thing to have a polarizing party chairman, another to have a polarizing candidate.
Anybody disagree?
Hey, not me. I mean, sure Sarah Palin can be a bit polarizing but it would make a great deal of sense to keep Sarah Palin from getting “entangled in the minutiae of policy-development” whosie-whatsis when her strength (her “skill set” if you will) is getting entangled in the English language:
Throw in a private jet, some bendable straws, a Fashion Bug shopping spree, and maybe a consulting contract for Levi ” The Palin Impaler” Johnson’s babymama and you might have a deal, so Republicans should totally do this on the 4th of July to save America. And the troops.
Also. Too.

Yeah, Michael Steele could never achieve THIS!, for example.
Welcome back, TB.
I think the hitch in this guys plan is that Sarah Palin is good at raising money for Sarah Palin. The idea of Caribou Barbie raising money for the RNC, rather than spending it, requires ignoring past performance.
Not that I think it’s a bad idea. But it would be a shame to stop the train to crazy town that is the Michael Steele-run RNC.
I seem to recall some ethics ‘rules’ MC Steele ran afoul of last fall, with regard to speaking fees, book signings and unauthorized, non-party travel on the RNC’s dime. He got called out by a bunch of previous RNC chairman, which is a tough enough crowd to displease, ethics-wise.
But Missus Palin, you know, she don’t roll that ethics ‘rules’ way.
So, no. Also.
Killer idea. Hope they do it. They’ll wind up bankrupt, like the republiKKKan Party of Texass.
Just like every July 4, i went out to celebrate America’s birthday. Of course me and America had WAY too many tequilas.
One thing led to another, and the next thing you know I’m naked in bed with scratches on my back and a tax break, while America’s puking all over my bathroom.
I feel like such a Republican.
They just need to change the job title to “spokesmodel.”
Right, because Sarah Palin is such a low-key, behind-the-scenes type.
There’s not enough cash in the RNC gig for Palin. Although Steele is trying…
He chose wisely? Unfortunately the Princess is already the unofficial chairman of the Suck On These Party. Rush wouldn’t take the pay cut so that leaves Lizzy. The good part about her as a choice is that she supplies her own whips. So theres that.
And even if they had the cash, it’s been allocated to other “activities.”
It would be fun to see, if only to keep track of all the things that Palin did that was very similar to what Steele did but for which she wasn’t criticized.
Of course, the really big no-no Steele did, Palin would never do — namely, admit that the Southern Strategy didn’t go away with Nixon but was in use for the past forty years.
I love the idea of Sarah being RNC chair ’cause she would never stop talking. The PTB would be screaming “stop digging.” She’s perfect.
No! Please! Don’t throw us Dems in dat briar patch!
“Official republican negro.”
:o) :o) :o)
I’ll have a new beige keyboard, please, TBogg. :o)
He really is, and the fact that he is ALL OVER THE LOT, is getting more precious every time he does it.
Speaking the truth about the insanity of the committment of so much blood and money to enlighten the wogs, at the same time as pimping the outrageous lie that it was OBAMA who “engaged” us there, is a howl.
And the repubs, or most of them, aren’t bothering to differentiate. They’re angry that Steele went off the reservation and talked about the futility of the Afghan shitmire, but they’re waiting to see if the lie about it being Obama who dragged us into it, will fly. If it does, then full steam ahead, and hand the ball off to Limbaugh, Palin, and Beck, inc., and let them run with it.
This is why I keep saying that the asshat/flat-earth wing of the GOP is no threat to us. Every time they get fired up and shoot themselves in the foot, it makes Obama look…”centrist”…
On second thought, I wish Steele would put a sock in it. :o)
“I love the idea of Sarah being the RNC chair…” :o)
You are warned; I will dance naked if the repubs give the mouthbreathers that kind of power. I hope she writes the GOP platform for 2012. :o)
O! she would be so purty winkin’ and a smilin’ like that don’ta know.
Daddy’s Little Deferment channeling her inner Mayella Ewell again….
I thought Rushbo was the titular head of the RNC…! ;-)
I could say so many things to that, but I don’t want the Mod to tape my mouth shut. :)
Yep, this works for me. More affirmative action by repugs, replace 1 crazy person for another.
CTut, well, he is, and Michael, like the rest of the GOP leadership, has been nothing if not scrupulous about kissing his ass, but if Rush becomes the facto honcho, I think he might become so drunk with power that he could make Steele look like the very soul of well-reasoned and thoughtful speech-making.
I could dig it. :o)
Michael Steele and other RNC demagogues don’t communicate so much as they excommunicate.
I am SO glad to see people who don’t shit green nickels every time Sarah Palin opens her mouth. I just linked to this thread at Digby’s Hullabaloo…(hint, hint…) :o)
Are you inferring that Rushbo is not drunk already with power…? ;-)
PPD, but the problem is, they can’t decide who to excommunicate. :o)
The race for the repub preznintial nomination in 2012 is going to be blood-sport. :o)
In fairness, if Obama doesn’t get off his centrist ass, ours could be, too.
He is, but I think that’s a hole that can’t be plumbed, or maybe I should say, a wellhead that can’t be plugged. :o)
The sight of Limbaugh “moderating” himself, and laying off all the lies and half-lies, is something that I think we’re not going to see.
He’s made his financial/celebrity bones by making ignorant assholes feel like they’re well-informed; if he deviates from that, what then?
Speaking of wellheads, I just checked the National Hurricane Center’s site, and I went: “Uh, Oh…”
A couple of these eggs will probably hatch…
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
The only thing stupider than the R response to Steele’s comments was the D response.
It was a pathetic response…! They’re as tone deaf as the Repugs…!
Nonetheless, revealing, dontcha think?
It comes to me that Obama has been really, really, unkind to the republicans and conservatives.
He could have defined them as the crazy-as-shithouse-rats bunch of assholes that they are, and made regular recitations and reminders of what they’ve done to us…and instead, he’s basically done rehab on them…
And it’s left them terribly conflicted about their identity. I think that’s what triggered Michael Steele’s confused oratory. I mean, Afghanistan IS the La Brea tarpit east, as we are seeing proved on a week-to-week basis, but he just couldn’t stand to lay the original blame for it on George Bush and the GOP’s doorstep. If he’d said:
“Yeah, we repubs sure screwed the pooch by not nailing OBL, and instead, moving the goalposts into the nation-building end of the stadium, but Obama is the one who is keeping them there.”
Then, he could have made some political hay out of all this. And even gained a measure of respect from the political center, for speaking two truths. (which is something that the repubs desperately need to do, instead of looking like a single-wide aluminum church full of people attesting to their piety and patriotism by fondling large north american pit vipers…)
Now, he’s getting his ass flayed by the wingnuts, which, as most of us on this thread would agree, is pretty funny, especially since the repubs look like they’re about to get rid of a good chunk of their proof of what an open tent is the GOP.
Obama could have put these people so far under the troll-bridge that they would have to be fed with a slingshot. By allowing them to assume the mantle of the loyal opposition, he has cleverly and sadistically tied the can of contempory responsibility to their tails.
His problem is, that the can on HIS tail is even larger and more carrion-filled, since he had so many americans fired up about his ability and his opportunity to mount the salvage operation.
Now, everything is up in the air, and there is no sign that Obama and the dems have a clue what to do. That usually reflects badly on the incumbents, and it should, especially when they came in with the clout that they were carrying.
It’s 16 weeks until the mid-terms. I’m watching to see how many democrats contending in districts and states want him to come and campaign with them.
I’m thinking, not very many.
I love this. And the best thing is that DLD would have no idea who Mayella Ewell is.
Sure why not? I suppose we’ll have to tune in on Fox to see her, though. No way will Sarah dare expose herself to real questions by any of the “lamestream media” (her favorite phrase for the media that gave her such a challenge in the 0’08 campaign, by asking her tough questions, like, “where do you get your news?” – talk about ‘gotcha’ journalism!). At least Mike makes himself available to all media outkests (and brings the stupid!). How’s Sarah going to bring the stupid if her handlers won’t let Sarah be Sarah?
PS – I never get tired of that pick…I think the olny difference between her then, and now, is about 25 years.
I’m so happy to see the Lady Liberty in Flag and Sparklers graphic at the very end of the post.
I’ve been lonesome a long time, always feeling left out from the gay lesbian transgendered bi segregation, but, now, finally, Statues I’d Like to Fuck (SILF)and I are getting some recognition.
Thanks for the cute picture of Gov. Palin when she was a college student. She would bring energy & enthusiasm to the position of RNC leader, but she is too rebellious to contain the rebels, and the Republican Party needs discipline and unity.
Obviously, to cure the boil on his ass that still lingers from his VietNam days.
‘bystander’s right: If Palin ascends to the purple of the RNC leadership, “cute” won’t cut it anymore. She had her “cute” honeymoon while magnifying the asswhupping that the voters gave McCain and the repubs in 2008. (With where we are today, God, it’s depressing to write that…) Now, if she goes official, her gibberish will get an even closer look from the MSM.
The repubs are clearly reluctant to sack Steele, because he’s black. If/when they finally do, I’m sure they’ll look at Palin and think:
“Out of the frying pan, into the fire? No thanks, Sarah.”
I’m also pretty sure that a lot of the “moderate” GOP are onto the fact that the political bloom is off the rose for the teapottiers and wingnuts like Palin and her ilk. They scare the living shit out of too many voters.
I hope the laughter and joy from the progressive rank-and-filers about Steele’s remarks and the consternation they’re causing among the repubs, and the hoots about the possibility of his being replaced with Palin, are an indication that we can keep our attention on the REAL problem:
Is it still possible to jump-start Barack Obama before we get our political asses handed to us 16 weeks from now?
In the first paragraph, you prove yourself to be the master, TBogg. The GOP is not getting rid of Steele. They don’t have the balls to do it, and he knows it. And, as much as Palin would fuck up the RNC even more, I don’t want her getting even more exposure than she already has.
Great post TBogg, great comments and as always, a pleasure to see buddy Tanbark holding court and amusing us all . . .
Well done hoss, and hosses, and hossettes!
Way late to this one, but, Palin as RNC Chair?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Damn I’d pay to pray for that one, light a thousand candles, I would . . . *G*
Ok, I got a buck thirty into the video of her greatest hits . . . and could not take it anymore.
As dawg is my witness, I will NEVER in my life bookmark that one . . .
