Official White People Spokesperson, John Hinderaker, is very concerned that the help is just shufflin’ around:
Disillusion with the Obama administration, which can hardly be disentangled from disgust with the Reid/Pelosi regime in Congress, is reaching dangerous levels–dangerous, anyway, if you’re a Democratic office-holder. In the Washington Post, Chris Cillizza points out that President Obama’s approval rating among whites is almost exactly the same as President Bush’s was two years ago. (I had forgotten, actually, that in 2008 Obama lost the white vote by 12 points. This was, however, a significant improvement on John Kerry’s performance.) It took President Bush seven and a half years to fall to that level; Obama, just 18 months.
Of course it is important to remember that people failed to recognize the genius that was George Bush back in the day:
It must be very strange to be President Bush. A man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can’t get anyone to notice. He is like a great painter or musician who is ahead of his time, and who unveils one masterpiece after another to a reception that, when not bored, is hostile.

The only thing Assrocket can hardly disentangle is the knots in his Hush Puppies after another fruitless morning of attempting to tie them. What a fucking idiot.
A man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can’t get anyone to notice
Oh we noticed. How he, with his numbed down brain, didn’t seem able grasp the gravity of a terrorist threat. How he couldn’t eat pretzels and watch TV at the same time, couldn’t do anything beyond sitting for 7 minutes and reading fairy tales to children when this country is under attack, couldn’t utter an intelligent sentence spontaneously, and during times of crisis he was incapable of anything more than vacationing! It is beyond me how anyone can think Bush could ascertain the gravity of anything.
Masterpiece? I guess that’s in the eye of the beholder. “Sure, it’s a drippy turd, but the punch bowl it’s in is exquisite!”
I’m afraid I don’t get the point of his post. Does he have one?
Hinderaker should stick to what he does best: being the centrefold for Weiners Monthly.
Cut the man some slack. It’s hard to blog when you have to unzip your trousers to see the screen.
And white people are the only voters who REALLY count, right? We all know Obama won on a technicality …
Cilliza’ column: In the June 2008 NBC-WSJ survey, 37 percent of white men and 26 percent of white women approved of the job Bush was doing. In the June 2010 poll, an identical 37 percent of white men approved of Obama’s handling of his job, as did 35 percent of white women.
My eyes seem to be telling me the approval rates among whites are still higher than they were for Bush, but as a chick I guess my eyes see ~10% less reality than Hindy’s.
If Johan von Handehoch weren’t already wearing shoes that close with velcro (he seems like the type) it wouldn’t be so hard for him to untangle those knots.
Blog of the Year. Feh.
It’s Assrocket. Enough said.
The same one thinking Bush was an ignored Gweateest Prezdient Eveh …and he’s taking Tea Baggers so seriously now. And of course, he’s with the haters that damn a black man’s guts — well,,,BECAUSE!
Loving seeing the glorious doggies, I should add – so it’s all a treat. And the fill in posters were terrific, too.
“disgust with the Reid/Pelosi regime in Congress”
And the shifting of blame and manufacture of negative opinion against the Democrats continue…(Not that they do not need some course corrections but this isn’t their mess)
My favorite part is how Hindraker manages to be grossly ignorant in so many categories simulataneously- in terms of background– since Obama never had the white approval level Bush did it obviously doesn’t mean the same thing; in terms the actual facts in dispute (as noted above Obama’s rating with white women is still significantly higher; and finally in its priveleged conception of approval- in effect making white and white male approval the be all and end all of approval.
For some reason, I just can’t take Hindrocket’s political opinions seriously.
I wonder why Hindy didn’t mention that in that June 2008 poll, Bush’s approval was 28%, while in this June’s poll, Obama’s approval was at 45%?
Hmmmm….I wonder….
Other things not mentioned by Hindy – the 2010 poll is heavily skewed towards whites, which made up 76% of those polled.
I mean, it’s almost as if they were trying to put together a poll that would show white people are uncomfortable with our black president!
I’d say it’s significant that in a poll where white people were conspicuously oversampled that Obama still outperformed Bush by 17% in approval rating. Which is probably why Hindy didn’t bother to point out any of this stuff.
Democrats haven’t been winning the white vote in prezntial elections since Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. So what? Especially when there’s so little substantive difference between Obama and Bush. it’s not as though Obama deserves to be be popular “on the merits.” His “merits” are are pretty much Bush’s. Yawn, puke, yawn – both men are monsters, much of ameriKKKa hates black people. So what?
I wonder why Hindy didn’t mention that in that June 2008 poll, Bush’s approval was 28%, while in this June’s poll, Obama’s approval was at 45%?
And didn’t many of these guys insist Bush was still popular even at 28%?
So basically, if white men (the ones who were polled, anyway) think Obama is the same as W. (ignoring the rest of the data involved because numbers are haaaaaaaard), then that means Hinderaker gets to jack-off again to how manly and presidential and white W. was for those eight interminable years in office? Hindy, get a room for one and have it. Please refrain from spewing your jizz all over the intertoobz, though. It’s a bitch to clean up.
“Please refrain from spewing your jizz all over the intertoobz, though. It’s a bitch to clean up.”
Wow, generating a laugh and an Ewww! in one fell swoop. Nice trick.
Bush’s presidency was a masterpiece. You see, it’s just like the real numbers. There are positive numbers and there are negative numbers. You can have a very large positive number, and you can have a very large negative number. You just need to remember to judge Bush’s accomplishments on the negative side of zero, and it’s obvious that he achieved a masterpiece of negativity.
Yes, well, this kind of writing makes me extra-cranky which is when I have some of my best snark.
Notice that there are no African teams left in the World Cup, didja notice that? Huh?
I bet you didn’t because you’re all crank on drunk or whatever it is those damn kids with their baggy pants and their doggy-snoops and big butts and enemies of the public.
Well, that 28% consists of about 95% of the teabaggers, plus the usual ~2% of people polled from mental institutions.
IOW, “Real Americans”, they’d say. “Real” something, that’s for damn sure.
Assrocket – still shooting for the stars, still hitting the manure pile back of the tool shed. Of course, it’s always difficult to argue with a man-child who constantly has one hand wrapped in a death-grip around his “George Bush Action Figure”…
I enthusiatically voted for Obama and I am no fan of Hinderaker, but it’s time to admit that Obama is really not doing a very good job. I would agree that he’s better than Bush, but if that’s the criteria for a good job as president, then we only ever had one bad president. Obama is botching the BP thing badly and was advocating offshore drilling just a couple of weeks before that. He is letting this company push him around, when some of these guys should be in jail. He is pumping up the war in Afghanistan pointlessly. We are still in Iraq. Whatever happened to the 18 month timetable? Obama dumped the left almost as soon as he got into office, which was a year and a half ago, so can we stop saying, “Give him time” ?
Has anyone here heard of a wingnut named Terry Savage? He’s reminiscent of the asshole who told Virginia there’s no Santa Claus.
According to Savage Terry, sweet little girls giving away free lemonade symbolize everything that’s wrong with America.
Is Terry Savage related to Michael Weiner?
Ah yes, the old “letting 1.8 trillion in tax cuts to the richest Americans expire is a tax increase” argument. Plus, only white people count – as noted upthread, Hinderaker is ignoring overall approval ratings. He’s a zealot who tries to lie effectively, but can’t even do that.
Never heard of her; maybe she’s positioning herself to be the You-Kids-Get-Off-My-Lawn lady for her writers syndication group. {Fires up lazy & half-hearted search with Teh Google…}
It looks like her main shtick is as a financial advisor and planner. A cursory glance at a few of her past columns in Sun-Times and elsewhere suggests she is not usually a wackaloon – or at least hadn’t been before the bizarre ranty column you linked to on the girls with the lemonade stand, and their no doubt Obamitler-inspired socialist act of offering free lemonade to passersby.
Besides being an online columnist with Chicago Sun-Times, she has her own website, and she is – or was once intended to be, by someone* – a columnist on Townhall (*I cannot actually find any of her columns over there, and I wonder why she doesn’t cite that on her own website, which seems otherwise complete and not the work of a shy person. Hmm…).
Also, no early history, e.g., wholesome childhood upbringing in Teh Heartland and all that. Graduate of U. Michigan, but no accounting of life before that.
The Imps of Justice over at S,N! don’t seem to have ever posted on her, nor have Thers at Whiskeyfire (he only has eyes for Chuck Norris postings at Townhall, I think) nor TBogg, here or at the old place. Nothing on her from Chicago bloggers Athenae or Drifty either.
Hmmm, maybe she’s doing an Althouse – trolling for angry responses = many clicks on her column = proof of her value to her employer. If that’s the case, there are signs of a successful strategy, since she appears to be getting a growing angry response on the blogosphere.
Savage would be happy to learn that, around the corner, the little girls’ brothers were selling credit default swaps on the lemonade stand.
Seriously though, if the Sun Times would let them, I imagine either of the two little girls selling limonade could write an editorial response superior to Savage’s “show and tell time” piece.
That really is a thing of beauty.
I sat in the back seat in shock. Free? My brother questioned them again: “But you have to charge something? What should I pay for a lemonade? I’m really thirsty!”
His fiancee smiled and commented, “Isn’t that cute. They have the spirit of giving.”
That really set me off, as my regular readers can imagine.
She then goes on to yell at little girls selling lemonade that they have to overcharge their customers so they can make a profit, or else the entire U.S. economy will collapse.
I swear, there is something pathologically wrong with these people. The thought that someone, somewhere is getting something they don’t deserve just sends them completely over the edge.
