Shorter Matthew Continetti:
Fappity-fap-fap fap
Actual Matthew Continetti:
This has been a great couple of weeks for Sarah Palin. Her endorsements show that her finger is on the pulse of Republican voters. She released a campaign-style video that won plaudits from the D.C. establishment. Her PAC announced that it had raised funds commensurate with other serious contenders for the 2012 Republican nomination. A PPP poll showed her tied with Obama in a hypothetical matchup (though a Time poll showed Obama trouncing her, and obviously such polls tell us absolutely nothing about the state of politics two years from now). Today, Gallup released a survey showing that, among Republicans, Palin has the highest name recognition — and highest favorables — of any major potential candidate for the 2012 nod.
Yeah. But then there is this:
For many Democrats in Washington, a Sarah Palin presidential run would be a dream come true.
As their thinking goes, Palin’s popularity among Republican base voters in early primary states would be enough to swamp the rest of the 2012 field and vault the conservative firebrand to the GOP nomination.
But in a general election, her standing among independent and swing voters, which began to crater in the closing weeks of the 2008 presidential race, might be too much to overcome.
[...]
Among all Americans, though, Palin’s numbers are upside down. More Americans view her in a negative light (47 percent) than a positive one (44 percent). What’s more, only nine percent of Americans haven’t formed an opinion of the former Alaska governor, making it difficult for her to correct that deficit.
I honestly don’t know if Continetti is this stupid or if he was given the assignment by Bill Kristol to be the Weekly Standard’s designated Suicide Bomber for Sarah.
To be safe: probably both.

This is a typo:
It’s supposed to read “Her endorsements show that her finger is on the purse of Republican voters”.
Matt’s shooting for over 550 on the SAT-Verbal.
Bring it on!!! I would pay good money to watch Sarah try to “debate” Obama…hahahahaha…I suspect this little media shitstorm around her is about to blow up. After all, you can fool all of the people some of the time…just let the idjyits at the Weakly Standard and the (House at Poo) Corner keep publishing their wet dream fantasies. Only question is, who’s the dope who will run with her? I have my money on Joe the Plumber or Kenneth Gladney…you know, someone even MORE unqualified than her to be President. Paging Lindsay Lohan??
Michelle Bachman. That is a ticket that would make this liberal old woman’s heart palpitate. Not only would the campaign be like watching some third-rate reality show, Obama would coast easily to victory.
That leaves the President with plenty of time and energy to attend to important matters while the two “ladies” on the Republican ticket bitch-slap each other over who gets to wear red, and who goes first, and who signed more autographs at the last truck stop.
Oh, and Matthew Continetti is a stupid child.
He is a conservative so you are being redundant.
What particular Bushco policies will change if Obama wins again? What Palin policies would be any different? It’s whiter shade of pale time. I hope Obama has a miserable, unsuccessful convention to go with his miserable, unsuccessful Presidency. Real question is who the Dems should be running, not whether the republiKKKans nominate Missus (former) Governor Sarah P.
Thank you. my thoughts exactly. Doesn’t much matter what freak show the GOP roll out for 2012, my main concern is how to cope with the depressing reality that is the current presidency and the thought of its continuation beyond 2012. So much time for him to deliver Change, so little apparent will to actually do it.
I has a big sad.
On a related note, the Avon rep for the Weekly Standard says sales have been excellent. “They just can’t seem to get enough hand lotion over there” she was quoted as saying.
Palin/Tebow 2012!!!1!1!!
Freaky enough for ya?
Ooopsie Xenocrates! My response @10 was also meant as a suggestion to your option-quest….
Folks, it’s a two-ring circus.
We have both a really crappy Presidency that doesn’t deserve the re-election it’s going to get, and we get to have a screamingly funny, national high school talent show featuring competitors like Newt, Sarah, etc., backstabbing each other for the votes of teabaggers.
It is going to be very colorful and much funnier than watching McPalin twist in the wind after she was picked in ’08.
There is one really good answer to the 2012 dilemma: Elizabeth Warren.
yep.
This, of course, is what Rahm and Obama are counting on. Given what we’ve seen over the last 18 months, I can’t imagine the consequences of Obama’s “coasting to an easy victory” would be something we’d welcome.
