Since I got nothing else, might as well do a random ten thingy:

Boy Lilikoi – jónsi
Satisfy My Soul – Bob Marley
El Carretero – Buena Vista Social Club
Hunter – Portishead
That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore – The Smiths (if you listen to the Smiths, you can bag Zoe Deschanel. I learned that in a movie)
Que Lindo Sueno – King Khan & the Shrines
Sometimes Always – The Jesus & Mary Chain
Danko/Manuel – Drive-By Truckers
Mean To Me – Nellie McKay
Cello Song – Nick Drake
and one more for the Professional Left: Stardust – Wynton Marsalis Septet (Live At the Village Vanguard)

Let’s see, what other important stuff…

Also, Atrios had an interesting link about the ridiculous cost of concerts now that LiveNation has sucked up most of the air in the room. While there aren’t too many of the big name acts that I have any interest in seeing anymore so as to relive some part of my distant past that really wasn’t that musically wonderful in the first place, I’ve been very pleased with local venues like the Casbah who are booking interesting acts at better prices like Ted Leo & the Pharmacists ($15), Shonen Knife ($14), Bear in Heaven ($10), Fountains of Wayne w/ Jill Sobule ($18), The Melvins ($15), and Apples In Stereo for the low low price of $12. Even the reunited Tom Tom Club at $25 is a deal and a steal.
