Carly Fiorina, who is running for political office whether she knows it or not, does not want to answer your stupid liberal elitist so-called gotcha “political questions” even if you work for Fox (video below).
WALLACE: But forgive me, Miss Fiorina, where are you going to cut entitlements? What benefits are you going to cut? What eligibility are you doing..
FIORINA: Chris, I have to say, with all due respect, you’re asking a typical political question.[...]
WALLACE: It may be a typical political question but that’s where the money is. The money is in Medicare and Social Security. We have baby-boomers coming. There will be a huge explosion of entitlement explosion and you call it a political question when I ask you to name one single entitlement you are willing to cut.
FIORINA: Chris, I believe to deal with entitlement reform, which we must deal with, we ought to put every possible solution on the table, except we should be very clear we are not going to cut benefits to those nearing retirement or those nearing retirement or those in retirement.[...]
WALLACE: I’m going to try one last time, and if you don’t want to answer it, Miss Fiorina, you don’t have to.
FIORINA: It’s not a question of not wanting to answer it!
Short version:
1. Post every agency budget on the internet
2. ?
3. Balanced budget!
It appears that Carly Fiorina is Christine O’Donnell with less Jesus and more work history.

Carly Fiorina: Outsourcing Medicare and Social Security Benefits, one Grandma at a time!!
She wants to answer the question, but the lamestream media is trying to silence her!
Uh, Carly, you’re IN FRIGGIN’ POLITICS NOW! That’s why they’re asking you “typical” POLITICAL questions!
sorry for the all caps, my brain wants to die
Chris is damn lucky he wasn’t arrested. Those kind of questions can get you in trouble with today’s Republican Party.
So, to recap: Last week we learned from Joe Miller that personal questions are out of bounds. And this week we learn from Carly Fiorina that political questions are out of bounds too. Are there any questions left that they are willing to–
*thinks back to Sharron Angle press conference*
Oh, right. Carry on.
Allowable question:
“Who are you wearing?”
Self-entitled Carly Fiorina will cut your entitlements.
There will be a huge explosion of entitlement explosion
Lovin’ the literacy of these Fox hounds.
cmon connect the dots. It may SEEM that she is implying that we send all old folks to India but that would be wrong. No, Carly started out as a secretary and as just another one of the tea-party little people she understands that the practical solution is to send all the colored old folks to Mexico.
OT since all of the side effects of my medicare plan B medications result in massive 3am bi-urinary incontinance (Hat Tip; Senator Vitter) I am up with the early worm on your Shorter Ross;
Being a New Haven townie Ross understands the common ground between inbred yale fucks and inbred yocal tea partiers is; Little Dicks! (i think thats why they call the yale library mens room a tea room) Remember – know your frenumies!
Also; being hipocritcal about being hippocritical makes teabaggers entirely reasonable.
Uhm, and this weekend Miller apparently upped the ante and decided that ANY questions are off limits, and that simply being a journalist is reason enough for him to give his brownshirts orders to arrest you.
Lovely people, Republicans. Can’t wait to have them running the show again. Ordnung Muß Sein.
Old country folks motto;
Ask me no questions, I’ll tell you no lies.
Seems to apply to teabaggage approach to public information.
Carly Fiorina’s Contract with Morning in America Fuck Yeah! Plan:
1) Cut millions from “entitlement” programs (none, of course, that corporations are somehow entitled to);
2) Lay off millions of “non-essential” employees like police, firefighters, teachers, park rangers, social workers, and any other icky civil servants;
3) Outsource the US Government to India; and
4) Pay huge bonuses to themselves for saving money.
It’s so crazy, it just might work! Just don’t ask us about it.
Well, I guess we should give Chris the Lesser some credit, but the use of the “Entitlements are Killing Us!” meme kinda takes the bloom off said turd.
Now, if he would have said something like this (i.e. truthful), I would have sent him one of Mrs. Hatmandu’s fabulous german chocolate cakes:
WALLACE: It may be a typical political question but that’s where the money is. The money is in
Medicare and Social Securitydefense spending. We havebaby-boomers comingseveral more wars planned. There will be a huge explosion ofentitlement explosionbrown people’s homes and you call it a political question when I ask you to name one single defense earmark you are willing to cut.Maybe HP fired her partly because she didn’t allow typical “business” questions when she was supposedly running the joint.
Asking a politician running for office political questions is bad? Maybe whats bad is that she can’t answer questions regarding how she would handle the duties of the job she is seeking.
Carly we call this in the real world a job interview. In your elite world seeking office or getting a CEO job is a formality.
How is Carly doing in the race and who is her security firm where were they when snotty press asks tough questions?
How many GOPers this election are not talking to the press at all? How many only talk to Fox or local GOP news?
How many are saying scandals about Immigrant Nannies, being a Witch, owning Gay clubs but hating Gays etc are out of bounds but then lie about their opponents or question their Manhood as they run under their Mother’s skirts when the Press asks them about their Real Scandals or God Forbid the ISSUES!
It’s not news that politicians and candidates are nothing more than useful idiots. I’ve never met a person of either breed who had anything other than the weakest possible grasp of any matter of public policy.
The problem is that people believe the pablum and platitudes that spring forth unendingly from politicians’ and candidates’ mouths. We need to figure out how to deal with that.
Carly cut spending cut Social Security benefits and cut taxes for the rich means that Consumer spending in America will go down. Thats bad for the economy.
Tax cuts for the rich as the economy goes down will be reinvested in countries with Growth not America why rich people want to make a profit.
As the rich invest/outsource jobs to other countries our economy will get worse.
Once people in other countries get are tech they will Nationalize the factories the rich built and steal the tech.
Then Carly will demand we invade and or bailout the rich…again.
@Hatmandu@13
Ya beat me to it. Funny thing how the d word never gets mentioned.
Jim White has a fresh cross-post ready: NATO Detainee Death Under Investigation in Afghanistan
What an incredibly stupid woman. I can only assume that she got where she is with round heels.
You are right. ALL of these politicians, right and left are incredibly stupid. Not one of them answers questions like this. And, if they do, the answer is usually some “we need to hold teachers accountable while ensuring they are given all the resources they need,” type answers. (Translation, “we need to take 6 from 12 and then we need to put back 6 onto 12.”–no real meaning.)
I haven’t seen any politician really answer such a question (on that subject or others) except maybe Kucinich.
I need to add an adden-dumb (Get it? LOL!) to the Carly Fiorina’s Contract with Morning in America Fuck Yeah! Plan:
5) Wiretap your staff and any news media that may be investigating you.
Ha ha, it’s funny because she’s a fascist and/or useful idiot!
As for that work history … “Fiorina out, HP stock soars” (Feb. 10, 2005)
Shorter Answer: Yes.
Typically I refrain from the “she slept her way to the top” gossiping, but in Fiorina’s case, it’s merited to mention it. Fiorina did work her way through an MBA program, I believe, but she catapulted to the top of Lucent because she slept with the right “old boys,” and then when she ran Lucent into the ground (and lost 1000′s of jobs for US citizens), the “old boys” promoted her to the CEO of HP… where she outsourced 30,000 US jobs to third world countries, behaved like the entitlement queen that she is, demanding a private Lear jet to fly her hither and thither, and bascially ran HP into the ground, until the Hewlett & Packard heirs FIRED her lousy worthless incompetent butt.
Fiorina is a dull as last week’s news, but as you can see, Fiorina thinks she’s the sh*t. And like any self-respecting T-bagger (although Fiorina doesn’t really acknowledge that designation, she follows the T-party lead), why should Fiorina deign to answer questions. As vacuous & vapid as Sarah Palin and probably not much more “hard working,” either. Main difference is that Fiorina doesn’t ram some religulous crap down everyone’s throats.
Why conservatives want to vote for an incompetent entitlement queen, who trashed 2 viable US companies is beyond me.
And as for HP stock, let me hasten to add that it’s ONLY RECENTLY that HP stock has approached the value it USED to have BEFORE Fiorina was hired as CEO. Although HP stock “soared” after Fiorina was FIRED for gross incompetency in 2005, it’s taken over 5 years for the stock to regain it’s former value. No lie; I own stock; I have my personal spreadsheets to prove that (but no link).
Liberal dfh that I am, I had to PAY to FIRE Fiorina, who walked away a giant million dollar golden handshake, which was at least partially paid out of my stock holdings. So: where are all these whining Libertarians to wag their fingers at me about how “hard working” whores like Fiorina are??? And how, as dfh, I’m this lazy slacker???
Now Fiorina wants to take MY money and buy herself a Senate seat, including all that sweet sweet corporate payola and nifty pension and health care benefits for life, that I have to pay for.
Exactly. I thought conservatives liked successful people with strong work ethics. Oh, wait, that’s just the cover story. She’s rich, that’s why they like her. She’s rich, therefore a success, despite the fact she ran HP into the ground.
Fiorina’s got rich through ripping off serfs (aka, US workers and stockholders), so conservatives are all, like: right ON, sister!!! You go, Carly!!! WOOT!
then Carly slithers out from under her rock and says: hey, conservatives, vote for me, and I’ll cut ALL of your taxes!!! And cut ALL welfare “entitlements.” Wink wink. And conservatives are all, like: Yeah, baby! Ya got my vote, Carly! No more welfare for dreaded dusky minorities!!! WOOT!
Of course, what conservatives don’t realize is that Carly means to end Soc Sec and Medicare for whites, too. That’s the message they’re not getting.
The public political conundrum: Politicians support policies that will economically hurt the vast majority of Americans while they pretend to represent the very people who are being screwed by these policies. This is why we never hear specifics, only vague generalizations in supposed response to lurking strawmen. Anyone who attempts to get a specific answer, and thus expose this public game for the snake oil routine that it is, is by definition asking an inappropriate question.
Or, in limiting spending, why is cutting the military’s spending never discussed. This is were most of the federal budget goes?
Seven times Mr. Wallace asked Carly the same question. Seven times she ducked and refused to answer it. Seven times Carly equals zero. Because Carly is a zero…
Of course it’s a political question, ya stupid Byotch. You’re running for political office. Jeez. What did you expect he’d ask about, what color hair rinse you use?
OK, so Carly Fiorina cowardly refused to answer. But why was she afraid at all? Probably because of left-leaning demagogues who would twist her words into something like “Carly Fiorina is against Medicare and Social Security!” Yes, right-leaning demagogues pull the same sort of thing too. But the real story here isn’t Fiorina, it’s the toxic nature of the political system as a whole.
Agree with you. He was saying we have to cut Medicare and Social Security. Because there are so many baby boomers who are going to need it!
Carly? Ewwwww!
Carly has been billing herself as a friend of small business. Of course, she proved it by almost turning HP into one.
Yet let me hasten to state that it is true.
Did you forget your snark tag? Because Carly Fiorina is emphatically in favor of cutting Social Security & Medicare. Fiorina has stated that. If this is so, then WHY should Fiorina be “afraid” to answer the question, just because some “liberal demagogue” will “twist her words.”
What is there to “twist” in: I want to cut Social Security & Mediacare?
Why is Fiorina afraid to admit it on national tv?
And who the eff is the “liberal demagogue” who will “twist” her words? Where is this person? And where will the “word twisting” take place? In what corner of the so-called “liberal media” will that happen?
Or was that snark?
Yet notice that Lucent, the other major corporation that Fiorina so wonderfully “managed,” is not even a small business. It is gone; kaput; out of business.
If Fiorina had remained at the helm HP, the dog knows what would’ve happened. It may be long gone by this point, but Fiorina would be doing the happy happpy me me dance all the way to her off-shore accounts.
I guess I wasn’t clear. Fiorina says “we should be very clear we are not going to cut benefits to those nearing retirement or those in retirement.” But we both know that the reality of politics is that, given the opportunity, her opponent will cut an ad implying she wants to do just that. And as you know, old people vote in large numbers. It has happened many times before, and that’s part of the reason why politicians like Fiorina are so afraid to talk about it.
Wait, isn’t CA about to go out of business? Maybe she arrives just in time to have the “California: going out of business SALE!”
Oh, you were clear all right. I fail to see why you’re defending this greedy bimbo’s right to boast about how bravely she’s going to cut entitlements and then excuse her cowardice when asked which ones. Her opponent will “imply” that she wants to throw old people into the streets? Hell, I’ll just come right out and SAY it, because it’s … you know … OBVIOUS to anyone with an IQ higher than a cutworm’s.
Towards the end she says, “. . .we need to engage in a long conversation with the American people. . . instead of 100 senators sitting in a room and figuring it out for themselves. . .”
Two things:
1) You’re running for one of those 100 chairs in that room, correct? If you don’t want senators doing what voters send them to Washington to do, why do you want the job?
2) You want to get elected, and then “engage in a long conversation with the American people”. You have no ideas and are waiting for the voters to tell you what to think while sitting in one of those 100 chairs for six years doing nothing.
Hypocrite.
You have a winner/whiner! And it isn’t that she doesn’t want to answer the question, it’s that she has no fucking clue what the answer would be.
No one said that she does not have a right to boast, so how could I be defending it? And I didn’t excuse her cowardice–I pointed out her cowardice. I also remarked that there is a larger problem here than one person’s cowardice: demagogy. As for the rest of your post, it is nonsense. Right there in the original post Fiorina is quoted saying that she will not “cut benefits to those nearing retirement or those in retirement.” How you go from that to “throw old people into the streets” I have no idea. But that’s exactly the kind of ignorant demagogy I was talking about. That’s exactly the kind of ignorant demagogy that makes politicians coy and reluctant to talk about this issue.
