Donald Douglas points out that Elizabeth Edwards has failed to give a shout-out to He Who Gave Her Cancer.
The story’s trending at Memeorandum. And at ABC News, “Elizabeth Edwards Won’t Receive Anymore Cancer Treatment: John Edwards’ Joins Family at His Wife’s Side.” But I notice at her farewell statement an odd aspect to her “three saving graces”: She doesn’t list faith in God as one of them
Now a visibly pissed-off God is probably going to get on His Facebook and call Elizabeth Edwards a faggot and then kill her.
Thanks for pointing that out, Donald.
Dick.

Funny how smart people usually don’t waste their time on pretend sky-beings when they realize the show’s drawing to a close.
The deity apparently has a higher priority job: making Buffalo Bills wide receivers drop easy touchdown passes.
Most of the commenters are letting him have it, thank God.
Not the first conservaprick to meet the definition of “chickenshit” at every level. The ultimate in concern trolling.
“…letting him have it, thank God.”
Heh and indeed. She, he, it does work in mysterious ways.
I thought it was guiding Tim Tebow’s throwing arm?
Glad to hear that. I won’t give the goon the satifaction of a “Ha! Made ya look!” click.
Scum.
I wouldn’t walk under any cranes hoisting pianos, safes or anvils for the next few days if I were Donald.
No one who really believed in the wrath of an all-powerful Creator would be as unfailingly petty and dishonest as Donald Douglas. More likely he views this “omission” as a mere gotcha: see, she isn’t really a Southern populist, but just a latte-sipping Huffington Post reader.
I don’t know if there’s a righty blogger in existence who outdoes Douglas in all three categories of crazy, dumb, and sleazy.
I spent years as a hospice spiritual counselor, and the practice of the best in that field is to help the dying patient find the path that helps them best come to terms with impending death. In our culture, this is usually religious, but not always. What is central to this quest is that NO ONE has the right to judge what the patient has found comforting and strengthening. Especially not pietistic assholes with tenth-rate blogs who have never even read this woman’s books, much less met her in person.
Good thoughts to you, Elizabeth. May you find your own best path into the night, and whatever lies beyond for you.
You know, if I were Elizabeth Edwards, God might not be high on my list of things to thank. I’m just sayin’. Strong thoughts to Elizabeth in her time of need.
Donald Douglas, you ARE a dick, and so are a few of your commenters (though most were truly righteous, and yes, I did click, and yes, I do regret it).
Left a comment for Donald, and while it pends approval at the Dick’s blog, thought I’d post it here as well, you know, for reference. Ahem:
Elizabeth Edwards writes: I believe that we are given a set of guidelines, and that we are obligated to live our lives with a view to those guidelines. And I don’t believe we should live our lives that way for some promise of eternal life, but because that’s what’s right. We should do those things because that’s what’s right.
You follow this, Donald, with your own characterization of her faith as radical, anti-religious, communist, nihilist, etc.
It’s a sad faith indeed that is so fragile, so poorly grasped, that its strength must depend on it being held by everyone else, as you insist that your own faith be.
You could learn a lot from Elizabeth Edwards about grace, Donald– in fact I think you could learn a lot about grace from just about anyone else on the planet at this point, because your post makes clear that you are the most graceless of us all.
My son said she died a few minutes ago. Bless her. No one should have to go thru what she did.
Wonder what the Dick will say now.
5:14 EST: WaPo reports Elizabeth has passed.

Truly horrible person.
(John Wayne voice): Truly, this wuz the Dick of Dicks.
So sad to see you go, Elizabeth. Condolences to the Edwards family.
We can hope she entered into her rest without having ever heard of this asshole. May you return peacefully to the elements, Elizabeth. Good thoughts for your family and all who love you.
Yes, I think we can assume that. A small consolation.
I couldn’t resist leaving a comment (along with several dozen other folks), and was surprised to see that it appeared almost immediately. This is a little creepy – comments must be approved, and he’s apparently approving ‘em as quickly as they come in. The guy is digging it, people: Donald Dick is without shame; he’s feeding on the negative comments, and no doubt every nihilistic, atheistical comment he gets just reinforces his twisted religious beliefs.
just hits, y’know, content not important.
Wait, isn’t that the definition of a troll?
If I were Donald and if he actually believes what he purports to, I’d spend more time worrying about his own shortcomings in the eyes of his judgmental God. But, like most of his ilk, he prefers to spend all his time finding fault in others while totally oblivious to his own deficiencies.
So sad about Elizabeth….few could match her personal courage in their lives as she did in hers.
Nothing is more sickening than someone telling you what or who to thank for your recovery. Some people have no class.
Of course the esteemed Mr. Dick would have said exactly the same thing if Elizabeth Edwards had been the wife of a Republican presidential candidate. Yeah, right.
“Mon-soo-er, you are a lulu.”
–John Wayne in The Comancheros (1961)
Oh shit, I didn’t realize Elizabeth had died. That makes Dick even more of a Dick than previously thought.
May she rest in a place where Dicks aren’t allowed. Lord knows, she endured her fair share.
Judging by the student reviews it sounds like his classes are like his blog. Awful.
Elizabeth Edwards was a really cool person, and the universe just got a little colder and lonelier with her passing. May flights of angels sing her to her rest.
I have, I think, somewhat of an odd version of God. I do not have an intervening God. I don’t think I can pray to him — or her — to cure me of cancer.
Elizabeth Edwards
IMHO she’s referring to selfish prayers here. Pray for others but not for yourself. Since most right wing Evangelicals have major problems with this concept Danno is just soothing the beast here. I’m sure that Danny wouldn’t even consider the possibility that Elizabeth’s God is a personal God and her faith in His/Her saving grace goes without saying. I can see that we can automatically assume that when Danelle’s time comes, his first priority will be his God and he won’t be saying something like “Mommy, I don’t wanna die!1!1!”, or something.
I swear, the right-wingers really can’t let anyone die in peace without pissing on them. When tragedy hits anyone, it seems like they say, “Hmm, how can I be the biggest dick possible?” Compassion or understanding is beyond Douglas; all he can do is lash out with a callous idiot’s judgment.
In addition to what’s been written upthread – Elizabeth Edwards lost her 16-year old son back in 1996. Something like that really affects one’s life, including views on any gods and the cosmos.
All those comments opposed to the timing, tone, and general inhumanity of his posts allow him to play at being the real victim in the story; a martyr for his (or according to Donald Douglas, His) cause.
A writer at <The Moderate Voice looked around at conservative blogs, and made an interesting point; whatever one thinks about Cons or Fundies, Donald is so far out on his own in his recrimination of Elizabeth Edwards. Many of the bloggers we know and love (or… …not) have made respectful posts about Elizabeth’s illness and death over the last several days. I know we have our differences with the aforementioned groups, but the sad fact is, Donald doesn’t say these things because he is a conservative, or because he is (or claims to be) religious. Donald says these things because this is who HE is. This kind of inhumanity toward others is a part of him, and I urge those among you who pray, to pray that Donald gets right with God, not so much for himself, but so that he doesn’t attack the next dying or recently deceased person with whom he has some imagined sociopolitical beef. Do it for the families… or at least, the children. Think of the children.
Methinks Donald the Dick, owing to a lousy sense of direction, wandered seven circles down and mistook the ruling supernatural being there for someone else.
Man, that guy is a serious shitstain.
