Shorter Victor Davis Shoutus At Cloudus Hanson:
Fucking Mexicans. Why won’t they work?
To my regret, I went over and read the article. Sheesh. California’s falling apart? Because of illegal aliens? Folks with middle class accoutrements are buying groceries with “food stamps?” Gee, has Hanson ever heard of Prop. 13? Might have something to do with crumbling roads….
“Is credit frozen?” he naively asks, apparently not having heard about banks and corporations sitting on piles of cash, neither lending it nor spending/investing it in new business or new products. And recently unemployed folks might still be driving their “late-model” cars and using their cell phones and bluetooth devices because, oh, I dunno, they bought them when they had income?
What a doofus. No, wait, what an evil doofus he is.
I hear they’re now coming over the border to take our unmanned drone jobs.
When will the madness stop?!1?
Fucking Mexicans…and the fucking Austrians. Alos. Too.
“Fucking Mexicans. Why won’t they work?”
Intentional riff on Insane Clown Posse?
Gawd, shouldn’t have read that. Three pages of incomprehensible dreck to blame brown people? Why do I get the feeling that if he were alive 100 years ago, this article would have been about the dirty, filthy Irish and Eye-talian invasions? And this is on top of his previous pile of word vomit which somehow blamed liberals who get liberal arts degrees as the reason people aren’t getting liberal arts degrees.
Topic for next column: If I rode my silly little bike off into the desert and disappeared, would the world be a better place? Ponder that, Victor, you putz.
I enjoyed the part where Mr. Me No Like Big Federal Government says the withdrawal of federal irrigation funds had a deeply adverse effect. Hmmm…Where’s that free market just waiting to kick in when the feds are removed, Victor?
This guy should stay in his Spartan-Athenian Wars and leave modern policy making to grown ups.
He probably just forgot to get batteries. Some of the newer inflatable dolls have moving parts.
FTW!
Hola, Victor, is that an unmanned drone in your pocket, or are you just excited to see me?
I’m surprised. Given VDH’s militaristic bent, I thought he would’ve gone on in this vein: “What about the Alamo? Did those brave men die for nothing, only to let these Mexiterrorists reclaim the land we rightfully took from them? When will white Californians man up and drive this illegal hoard back across the border?”
No, please, keep him away from Sparta. And even further from Athens. The lessons to be learned from those civilizations are not the lessons VDH wants to poison our discourse with. And, no, I did not click the link; my blood pressure, y’know … ancient war wound … pulled muscle … a bit hungry … your excuse goes here

Fucking Mexicans. My mortgage is upside down.
VD Hanson, lugubrious fool. Well read fool, but fool nonetheless. He once wrote a book about his family’s farm that I was interested in reading. Then I heard him say things like, “We fought WWII to stop the Holocaust.”
He must be about to sell that latifundia he owns, because once this is translated he can forget next year’s crops being planted, weeded or harvested. . .

Right, petesh. The right has highjacked ancient Mediterranean history in the larger public discourse, despite the fact that active (btw, VDH no longer is) ancient historians don’t tend to see today’s world in relation to the past at all the way the right does. It doesn’t matter how much the active ancient historians speak up — nobody listens to/reports them if they’re not among the very few on the right. Very dispiriting.
