Thursday Night Bassett Blogging always makes me smile. I’m addicted. Thanks for sharing your critters. They’re adorable. And looking at their faces, their poses, calms me down from the day’s news.
Our Bassets are also given to propping their heads on weird things. Maggie also likes to lie in her dog bed with her head off the bed, on the floor. Looks very uncomfortable, but she sure seems to like it that way. They’re just weird dogs.
Via the intertubes I pet all of their long ears and give them snout kisses. Thanks you for the pictures–I’ve had a rotten few days, but this helps to cheer me up considerably. And now I am thinking of Lesley’s potato chips, to which I am addicted and so I generally try to stay away from, but oh, are they ever good. Eat some for me.
I was wondering about these dogs: do their feet ever touch the floor? Maybe they are recluses like Howard Hughes and have really long claws. Do they get up on the bed by themselves, or do they have a step stool? And they seem to have very nice linens. Do they shop online? Sorry to be so personal. I always enjoy Thursday basset blogging, no matter what day it happens.
I am happy to answer your queries regarding the beasties. Their feet do regularly touch the floor and their nails, when long, make a rather pleasant clickety clack on both the hardwood floors and the sidewalk. After a trip to the groomer and the nail-trimming sling, we actually miss the sound. They are not at all reclusive and love interacting with other dogs and humans. However, they would most likely chase your cats. Sorry. Fenway can jump onto the bed from the floor but Wembley needs help in that endeavor and has 2 ottomans at his disposal to aid in his ascent. Thank you for the compliment on the linens…they are however generally Target sale items as they need to be replaced somewhat frequently due to wear and tear. And I really hope that they don’t shop online…I am terrified at the thought of what we might find waiting on our doorstep! Thank you for your interest in our bassets and please feel free to visit us again next Thursday!
Mrs Tbogg Dogmom to Wembley and Fenway and Beckham and Satchmo and Cooder
Mrs T and Catlover – last week’s video provided lovely examples of many of those – there were feetsies hitting the floor, wear and tear being committed on the bed linen, the sounds of claws clicking, and a quick glimpse of Wembley using one of the ottomans to get back up on the bed after retrieving his toy from the floor.
janetplanet, it was “The Peoples’ Choice,” with Jackie Cooper and Cleo the Basset Hound, voiced by Mary Jane Croft in a tired, bored contralto. Watched reruns in the afternoon after school in my childhood.

ears?
Lurve that pose of Wembley’s – and yes, his ears are sleek and glossy, aren’t they?
Fenway giving you the evil eye? Too many close-ups, dad?
Thank goodness it is Thursday! Love them bassetts – Thursday, Monday, Sunday, whenever.

Thursday is my scheduled treat night* and it’s a double-decker with the bassets added on.
It would be fun to have a nap with two nap-experts like these, though I prefer a cushion under my head, Wembley! Fenway has the right idea.
After six straight days of eating “clean”, I indulge in potato chips.

If you ever want to scare them into cooperation, you could threaten to move to Chicago

it’ll be awhile before we have another basset week like last week. but the guys are still very huggable. thx.
ahhhhhhhh. thank you.
I will take this pause
for battery recharging.
Mayhem will ensue.
TEH EARS!!!!
This is my favorite haiku yet! And 4 hours of battery recharging=37 seconds of mayhem. Amazing the damage Wembley can do in 37 seconds…
I do not blame the boyz for drowsing in the heat. It does the same thing to me. Look at the ears!
It just occurred to me, if Wembley was my dog, I’d carefully lift his chin and slide a coaster under.

It was lurvely.
Drat, too late to edit – couldn’t find the video of Wembley on the TBogg site with “bassetts” tag – but I found it at YouTube.
Worth watching (again); guaranteed to bring down the blood pressure and bring on smiles.
Those dogs are beautiful. There was an old TV show that had a bassett hound, was it Love That Bob or The Peoples Choice? Am I dating myself?

I totally concur with finding sunny spots to snooze. Plus a dog with warm fur makes you want to get really close and cuddly.
Oh, my, dating ourselves all right. I remember Cleo the basset hound; and Jackie Cooper, and that’s about all.
It’s so long ago I can’t remember if I watched the afternoon reruns or the evening prime time originals.
Yeah, I do remember “her” voice matched that sad bassett expression well.
