Coming from a long line of academics, (a lot of “Doctors” in my family), I can’t stand when people use the ole’ PhD title ruse to make themselves sound more important than they really are. Her expertise is ‘politics’; not health care or even public policy for that matter. No wonder she can’t answer a simple question without screwing up the answer.

Vatican officials say that after a pope dies, his body belongs to the entire Church and must be buried intact. Furthermore, if papal organs were donated, they would become relics in other bodies if he were eventually made a saint.

I suppose that could lead to complications, e.g. if someone were walking around and their liver suddenly became infallible it could be seen as encouraging alcoholism.

@Tbogg: but your analogy is sort of perfect, right? In an ideal Randian world there’d be no police force, because vigiliantism would, by definition, be the means of enforcement. That’s why we need rules like the one mandating gun ownership…

I’m one of those “women of a certain age” and I do remember this. It just makes me really sad to think that we are still fighting the same damned battle.

Now our granddaughters are having these evil people try to punish them for being women. Vile entities seem to live forever.

What I can’t understand is how these people can make the leap from “Kermit Gosnell was a horrible monster performing back-alley abortions” to “therefore we must eliminate Planned Parenthood.” That’s like proposing to stem the rising tide of vigilantism by disbanding the police department.

They just get a real thrill of imagining poor women having to undergo similar treatment and they mention him to remind you of how much they enjoy others’ suffering.

Besides, authoritarians know that all you have to do is make something illegal and then everyone will stop doing it…

The NoChoice crowd has waited about 35 years for Gosnell or someone like him to come along. Now, of course, they are vindicated. Of what, I do not know. I don’t think they really know either, but that does not matter. Gosnell butchering poor women and viable fetuses can now be the reason they shoot abortionists in the head, or bomb clinics. See, they knew they had a good reason!

How the MOTU show they really, really hate you and think you’re just chattel. Totally worthy of extreme mocking– a job you have succeeded in because your LOL-cat-esque title made me laugh.

Ms. Yoest may want to think long and hard about eliminating abortion in this country. Because we all know that after groups like AUL make this country safe for the fetus-Americans, wealthy conservatives whose daughters get knocked-up by men who “just aren’t marriage material” will be jetting their daughters off to clinics in Italy and Switzerland for “spa vacations.”

Unfortunately, foreign clinics don’t have to observe American physician/patient confidentiality laws. Cell phone cameras are everywhere, these days. So before our esteemed congressmen cast their votes, I hope they will visualize what it would be like to have their daughter’s picture snapped as she’s entering a foreign abortion clinic and smeared all over Facebook and YouTube. It’d be a real shame if photos of their grand-daughters on the operating table were sold to the highest bidder for publication, in The National Enquirer or People. Then again, perhaps it would serve conservatives right to have to watch helplessly as the people they care about get f*cked over by people who are beyond their ability to control.
