Shorter White House:

Sorry, I don’t see this at all. Greg Sargent isn’t saying that.
I wonder if there will be anyone on the committee who actually works for a living or has a grandma.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This whole deal is going to be a lot like watching an M. Night Shyamalan movie. You kind of think it sounds like it will be good until you actually see it.
Obama is the worst Democratic president in my lifetime. He is really a moderate Republican who has no place in his own radical right party.
C’mon! Grandma is NOT a productive member of society, and thus deserves no special consideration. Just like the mentally and physically disabled, Grandma’s a drain on society and must be cut off from the government teat lest we further encourage such non-productive behavior as getting old or being in accidents.
Obama knows that the only possible path to prosperity is to reward the producers–the Wall Street people, the insurance people, etc.–who really produce. Only by funneling 99.9% of our national wealth into their pockets can we achieve the nirvana of letting them trickle down on the rest of us/
It so maddening and saddening to realize this is true.
I just don’t get it.
He’s not a moderate conservative– or wasn’t when we voted for him. He’s just way, way over his head, and this is one of the things that can happen in a situation like that. Palin aside, we’d have been better off with McCain– same results or better, less empowerment of the wackos, Republicans get the blame for their actions. I suspect the same will be true with Romney. Unless an independent candidate appears, I expect this will be the first presidential election of my adult life I don’t vote in.
M. Night Shamma-lamma-ding-dong….
Then at least vote in the downticket races.
And we aren’t even going to have any ice flows left to send grandma off on.
keep an eye on david petraeus… he’s in washington now; and if the gop continues with unacceptable candidates, i see him stepping up..
Don’t know how viable this would be, but you may want to check this out:
http://www.americanselect.org/
I fully intended to vote for McCain for precisely those reasons, especially the “Republicans get the blame and reap the results” part. Then I was struck with a vision of President Palin in her fuck-me pumps because that old man hadn’t hired a food taster. And I voted for Obama, knowing that this scenario would be the result. I don’t hold so much animosity toward the guy as some seem to. He’s faced considerably more opposition than any other president I can remember, and I can remember Lyndon Johnson. He’s also gotten considerably less support. “Obama’s a sell out” started in February of 2009, as I recall. Maybe even January, with that bone-headed inauguration preacher thing. After the midterm elections, I imagine the guy’s got a strong sense of “Fuck it. If this is what you guys want, this is what you get.”
Vote for a Green or Socialist to show that you showed up and neither Obama nor the Republican was worthy of your vote.
No matter how terrible the Green or Socialist, either HAS to be better than Obama.
This is not “throwing your vote away.” This is “you could have had my vote, but you didn’t deserve it” messaging. If you “stay home,” they have to guess re your motivation, and, face it, they’ll always guess that it’s because the Dems “weren’t conservative enough.”
This is the ONLY way you can send a “not progressive enough” message.
Limbaugh’s making the same analogy on the other side, so I think this is probably about as good as it gets.
And please, enough with the “sending a message” bullshit. That’s how we got here, remember?
I live in MA. I’ll be voting in the senate election, for whoever is running against Brown with the best chance of winning.
I used to joke that Obama was a mole by the Republicans to screw up the Democratic primary, and they never expected he’d go anywhere– he’s a colored boy, for cripes sake! It’s not funny any more, there being no evidence it’s not true.
No! No! No! They’re just a renamed “Third Way” bunch – they would be just as horrible as Obama, and for the same reasons.
Can we please face facts: America is a solid right of center country. We fully get the President that reflects that truth.
The last progressive president we had was Carter – and look what happened to him!
Could you at least photoshop Obama’s face onto Wily Coyote?
The P.O. Box
Primary Obama.
You concluded:
From:
Looks like you could have just as easily concluded:
There’s just as much substance for both conclusions.
That’s funny. Poll after poll shows that a majority of Americans support Progressive policies. They know they’re progressive policies because of a complicit media that works to confuse and distract them.
TBogg,
That’s, I said That’s not all folks! The ugly is still creeping out and will continue to do so. It’s a darn good thing the public was not privy to all of it before the voting! Just take a gander at this:
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/02/pentagon-lands-extra-50-billion-out-of-debt-deal/
He chose the Democratic Party as the path of least resistance to power. He’s the worst President since Hoover and perhaps James Buchanan.
The only way we can build a more progressive society is without Zero.
We need to remove him before he totally destroys our cause.
I’m ready to kick every single member of Congress out! He wouldn’t be allowed to do any of the things he does if we had a formidable congress, which we don’t, and they don’t intend to do a damn thing about it.
I so agree.
Maybe he really did agree with “goddamn America”…
Grandmas used to be somewhat good for the GDP before we offshored the glue factories. Now they’re just millions of useless eaters demanding handouts.
I wish we had a “Vote of ‘No Confidence’.” Dissolve the Executive and legislative branches, call new elections.
THANK YOU. My god, there IS someone out there who shares my belief that you own your vote, it is a special thing, and it is not a tool for game theory. Take your vote, find the best candidate FOR YOU–not who is least worst, or who you need to vote for to prevent armageddon, but who most closeley expresses your views for the country–and cast that vote proudly. You only get one, and you cannot change how others vote. Treat your vote with respect. You won’t be backing a winner, but you won’t be bearing responsibility for what the winner ends up doing.
The chain has to break somewhere. Voting to reward failure is almost a guarantee you will get more of it.
My Mumia sweatshirt (combined w/my sanctimonious nature) do make me feel somewhat better about this whole mess.
And at least I have that.
Off topic.Yeah , I know , ad hominem. Is it genetic? I’ve noticed a majority of wingnuts sport these really goofy grins. More so If they THINK they’ve proved a point or prevailed on an issue.
As long as you ignore what the majority of Americans want, you betcha!

Does the D.P. have a recall provision?
{ LOL } The desert floor never looked so green and lush! mee-meep!
Worth repeating until it sinks in for everyone. :)
I do too, and I’d do it today if I could after reading how they fudged the numbers on the Pentagon deficit reductions numbers!
Ok. Except there won’t be anyone there.Try finding a suitable person to vote for in NEBRASKA.
Can’t we sue someone for Breach of Fiduciary Duty and RICO?
You would think so, I don’t have the money to hire an attorney.
It would have to be class action I would guess showing damages (to the American people).
I’m sure the folks on the committee have relatives, they just don’t give a rats ass about them. Look at Boehner, how many siblings does he have that are dirt poor. He couldn’t care less. They don’t think like we do.
Well, we have plenty of proof for that!
Did you read my link? It probably splains their shit eating grins.
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/02/pentagon-lands-extra-50-billion-out-of-debt-deal/
Yup. Probably can’t sue potusmouth, but maybe advisors. I dunno…just a thought.
FAA update from Politico:
.
Emphasis mine.
Your emphasis is just fine.
You have no idea how I hope this little situation causes them a headache getting out of Washington!
But they’re MAGIC beans. Davey Poof said so. And Gene Sterling says he’ll give us a silver dollar tomorrow for a hamburger today. Pick, pick pick. You guys are just meanies.
I’ve had fun today responding to all the candidates and lefty Dem promotion orgs that ask for support every day. Basic message: “Don’t contact me again until you have your primary candidate or alternate party affiliation lined up. Buh bye.”
There wasn’t on the original Catfood Commission. Many in fact not only were rich, but had inherited their wealth:
What analogy are you talking about?
I know I started when he appointed Geithner, Summers, and Rahm Israel Emanue.
I have not seen anything since to change my opinion.
That’s Bullshit and we are proving it is bullshit right now. You start taking away social programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security and you will find out just how far to the right this country is. For some reason that term, word or whatever conservative is catchy to people and they like it. But take away that “good old fashioned socialism” and what you get is a blue NY 26.
Obama needs to face opposition in the primary. Sanders or Feingold would be good. http://www.counterpunch.org/prashad08022011.html
Obama is doing exactly what he wants to do. He is very smart. He is not afraid or cowardly. Stop making excuses for his behavior and accept the fact that your trust was misplaced. Obama is a neoliberal. He believes that Social Security needs to be cut. He believes that Medicare needs to be cut. His job it to do that without allowing a progressive movement to take root in the U.S.
It’s time to smell the coffee and deal the fact that Obama is a neoliberal not a progressive. Yes, he lied about many things. Continued excuses for Obama only leaves us mired in ineffectual politics–waiting, hoping, begging and crying. I know it hurts but stop deluding yourselves and wake up.
We should not have to take the lesser of the two evils. We need to run our own candidates. People we can get excited about. I repeat again. We need to team up with Labor, They have the money and the power to run a high powered serious election against those things is washington. Labor represents working people the middle class and they will represent the elderly and poor. It can be done. Reid will piss his pants if Labor deserts the Dems and runs their own candidates.
Some alternative candidates. That’s more like it. I would like to see a list of 10-15. Let’s bat it around. It will make us happy to get started! Russ, Bernie? OK, but let’s look for some new faces–younger faces. (I believe that Jane has already been nominated on a previous thread.)
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/21/business/21bizcourt.html?pagewanted=all
Ooops, SCOTUS limited rights to class action lawsuits (yes, I recognize the decision handed down recently applies to class action suits against corporations, but it is precedent). So, per usual, US middle/working class citizens are up the creek without a paddle on that score.
So, who thinks Eric Cantor will be in the Super Congress? Do you smell sulfur?
Here’s what we need: a new, third party. The Progressive Party and we need a candidate and we need to elect that candidate. We don’t need a “pretend” primary rival for Barry. We aren’t going to bring about change from WITHIN the Democratic Party. That’s not an option. We’re past that. Let’s burn that bridge and move the hell on.
We true progressives have such passion, energy, intelligence, and vision that if we don’t go ahead and take the leap, I think we shall go mad.
Is there not a true progressive leader who will rise up in response to the urgent call from our collective souls?
I read about Americans Elect in Tom Friedman’s NYT column. Needless to say I was extremely skeptical, just thought it was another bullshit centrist shill. So I checked it out. The people behind it reinforced my original opinion, but I decided to take the opinion survey which matches your position to the rest of the opinions. To my surprise I found most of the responses were very progressive in spite of the questions being tilted to the right. Maybe the movement is being hijacked by progressives much to the chagrin of it backers.
http://www.americanselect.org/
And the Boehn-stalk’s up his A$$!
We wont be sending grandma off on any ice flows. We’ll need her bones to grind for bread to go with golden egg chicken soup.
Pssst … Bernie Sanders to Primary Obama? Don’t Make Me Laugh by Jane Hamsher
Consider the source. And of course they’re going to jigger the results of their survey to show that your liberal/progressive views will fit right in with them!
BRAVO, BRAVO Yes we do…and we can. This is the election that will make History…..If we run a Senate and House candidate in each state we will sweep the election…….especially if we add term limits to our goal.
How about a Wellstone. One of Pauls kids……they are great people.
AS I read the opinion poles, and just listen to people, I’m thinkin’ Not only will O not get re-elected but hardly anybody else is gonna get elected either. If people come out to vote at all, they will be voting for their dogs and cats and cockaties but not for this bunch of wankers.
Jane. Could you and some FDL Leaders team up with other Progressive Leaders like Adam Green etc and make contact with the International Labor Unions in Washington. Feel them out about running 3rd party candidates. They in turn could send the message down to the Locals in the States and we could pick it up from there. It will work. And it will shake up those parasites in DC.
Obama can shove his magic beans where the sun don’t shine.
heh… and now, tell us how ya really feel… (and I’m sure I’ll agree).
Where’s the confidence fairy when we need her/him??
Keep clapping louder for Tinkerbell, folks… it might at least keep ya warm this winter.
I thought it was magic peas.
From William Rivers Pitt:
They don’t make no such thing as magic PEAS.
Where you from???? :-)
Just got here.
..
Tough crowd.
We need someone with money, high-profile. SOmebody people wil llisten to and follow.

???
I GOT IT!!!!!!!
OPRAH
She’ll atttract the women and blacks and those people who sit at home and watch TV (the unemployed).
First third party candidate to WIN the WH.
Presidential candidates are usually on every state’s ballot, so there should me SOMEONE else to go with. If not, write in. How about Scott Kleeb?
Obama needed to do nothing – just let the Bush tax cuts expire and $4 T of deficit is gone – plus he gets credit when the pass new laws to increase the child credit to Bush levels and do likewise for the AMT and the marriage penalty and 10 % bracket.
We know what he means now – he has taught us how to read his words.
Who do we vote for? .. what’s the choice.. obama or romney? OMG.. who do we VOTE FOR? WHY is no democrat/progressive running?
silver or lead?
Or Al Franken. His replacement. Same state, mostly the same progressive values, and he isn’t beholden to the DLC.
