Your daily Timmy Tebow Report Card:
Tebow still has flaws in his footwork and his throwing mechanics and decision-making which render many of his passes wildly incomplete and arm his critics with fresh material.
In the face of tough times and constant criticism, Tebow said he’s keeping his head up. He used the word “fun” 11 times in a 5½-minute chat with reporters coming off the field Wednesday.
“Am I having fun? I am having fun,” he said. “I enjoy playing this game.”
Translation:
On the brighter side, he’s figured out how to put his helmet on face-mask forward and he’s having a good time playing outside instead of spending all day in front of the teevee playing video games. Bless his heart.
This would also be a good post to debate the existence of God (capital G, bitchez!) in the comments and why He sporadically favors some sports team over others with the possible exception of Notre Dame football which has obviously done something to fall into disfavor with Him because they have been in His Holy Doghouse for years.
Personally, I think He hates that fucking Rudy movie…

With good reason.
Also, too, how does one honestly earn an NFL roster spot, as a quarterback no fucking less, with bad footwork, bad throwing mechanics AND bad decision making?
Thanks for Juicebox Jesus 411, TBogg.
They started going downhill when NBC decided to sign an exclusive contract to televise their games. Maybe God hates NBC and ND got caught in the fallout.
Notre Dame. Rome might want to forget the buggered alter boys, but God sure hasn’t.
As for the Great Timmy Tebow, he’s Forrest Gump without the football skills.
Bullshit, Rudy was a good movie.
“Also, too, how does one honestly earn an NFL roster spot, as a quarterback no fucking less, with bad footwork, bad throwing mechanics AND bad decision making?”
Get drafted by Josh McDaniels, the coaches answer to tourettes syndrome. “This guy’s good. No, he’s not. He is. Not.”
As an SF Giants fan I’m left wondering just exactly what was done out here to please Him so? Fortunately, it looks as if we’ve managed to clear up that temporary condition of being in his favor. He made Aubrey Huff into a little old lady. Thong my ass.
Then there are the Cubs, and the Pirates. Forced to endure decade upon decade of suck. If they didn’t actually kill the only begotten son themselves, they musta at least used the holy ghost to wipe their asses.
The 49ers must be the worst, though. Not only forced to fall from a state of perfect grace to one of JEEZus KEYRISTE you guys!!, and to go through such a downfall while having to play half their games in the only stadium to be featured on “Hoarders” is just rubbing salt in the crown of thorns.
Gnome sane?
Maybe the Cubs are part of some Job-like test to see how far the fanbase will go before it crumbles? We’re at the point where there’s likely no fans left alive from the last time they won a World Series, and anyone who was around the last time they won a pennant is now collecting Social Security. And yet the Cubs are still beloved.
I’d go with the hiring of Gerry Faust. No matter how Catholic his record looks, God had learned his lesson about Fausts.
This
football players doing pushups with cheerleaders under them or some such sordid details came out in testimony
or maybe it was just catholic kids having fun away from their parents
and I am on the Rudy does suck team
God? I’m not a big fan. I asked “God” plenty of times during my college days to have (my leggy-super-model-hot friend) Mercy on me. “God, please have Mercy on me” I’d plead and fuckin’ nothing!
So to me the giant, busybody, eavesdropping, vindictive, non-Santa sky fairy is dead….
God is not exactly lazy, but he is self-respecting and refuses to waste good mystery on work that we should do ourselves.
Thank God the Redskins didn’t get Timmeh Teabow.
~
Sheesh. I tune into TBogg for some handsome bassett boys, and get the stoopid football player?
Wha? A couple threads back JuiceBox was being touted as an “Academic All American”! That’s Triple A. Hopefully Teatard Toby, and his clan, don’t down grade Juicey!
If he kisses/rubs a non-white cripple’s skull will he maintain AAA?
Where did you get the photo accompanying this?
it’s too fabulous.
And Rudy sucks. As does Notre Dame.
However, it certainly is great to have football back.
Letter to FDL
I have been an FDL member since the days of MediaWhoresOnline.
My hope for the Progressive movement was that we would begin to persuade the conventional wisdom of American political and social thought with rhetorical artistic fervor. What I mean is that we would prevail on our “smarts” and by way of rhetorical humor. Neo-conservative rhetoric is in my view abominably weak. We need new Carvilles and Krugmans and Jane Hamsher’s.
That said- please consider the impact of TBogg’s Tim Tebow rants. I see this as moving into rhetorical territory that is specifically vicious, graphically unforgiving, and totally out of bounds for what the rhetorical endeavor of FDL and the Progressive movement is about. You endorse it because it is a part of your sites “masthead”.
Someone from FDL owes Mr. Tebow an apology fast and without delay. I think Jane should do it herself.
This site- of which I am a signed on member- but not yet contributing due to unemployment is a part of my rhetorical persona or identity. Please don’t infect that identity with photos of children kneeling in front of NFL QB’s for the purpose of Christian bashing- (I am a Unitarian Universalist agnostic) or for some ingenuous personal TBogg crusade. I am uncomfortable with the content, the tone, the insignificance of the topic to Progressive rhetoric, and most assuredly the out-of-bounds graphic the author unwisely chose.
If he is trying to get himself “fired” then let him have his wish.
Thanks.
At the risk of draining what little humor there is left after your “what about the children?/we’re better than that/tsk tsking, the photo is not of a child, but is supposed to represent sportswriters/sportscasters who have been blowing Tebow every since he shed his piety on thee and them. (Hint: the sign that says “press”. Subtle, eh?) Having said that, may I just add, with all due respect:
Lighten up, Francis.
TBogg
You don’t get it and I suspect never will. So, let’s just disagree and move on. I doubt Jane will let it go. You have I suspect moved your commentary into territory that is somewhere way afield of FDL progressive dialog.
I repeat. You don’t get it and probably never will. Good luck in the future with your blog as it is pretty much doomed.
Sob. Somehow I will find the strength to carry on….
As God is my witness, I will SOMEDAY BLOG AGAIN!
Also. Too. You owe the guy who copyrighted the words “Rhetoric/rhetorical” about eleventy billion dollars in royalties.
Bless your heart.
TBoww actually looked pretty good tonight
How long have you been reading TBogg. 5 minutes? Do you not realize he is somewhat popular? I gather not.
You might also want to look up “snark”. It’s not for everyone, apparently.
Yeah, right. I remember when they passed out those badges. I don’t remember seeing you around. You really should get past Chapter One in Trolling for Dummies. Google Brave Soeur Robin of Berserkeley to see how transparent the I Used To Be a Liberal ruse is. And just in case you’re really serious, Strom Thurmond used to be a Democrat before was a Rethuglican, but he was *always* a schmuck. Don’t let it happen to you.
Bless your heart…
TBogg garners about 25 comments per blog post in his best days. Not a great impact in the scheme of ideas. By comparison, let’s just look at one post by Duncan Hunter- Eschaton. All he does is write Afternoon Thread and will get over 400 comments.
Tebow ( with whom I have no socio-political commonality with ) won a Heisman in his Sophomore year in college. That is quite an athletic achievement. I hope he enjoys a successful football career for his effort.
It also my hope that FDL will find a more successful and less vindictive blog author who will have a readership worthy of the FDL web real estate space.
Your concern is noted. Please don’t let the door hit you on your way out.
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R CA-52)is Atrios? Oh, this guy is good. . .
TBogg’s post graphically depicts a child appearing to hug Tim Tebow or another interpretation could be to perform oral sex on the Quarterback. Pasting “press” on it makes it all fit as a media “suck off” orgy I suppose. The subject has no value in progressive messaging. It is simply TBogg’s “edgy” humor. But, alas I see his writing days just as doomed as he sees Tebow’s career in the NFL. My argument is based on the FDL mission statement below where it is pretty clear that TBogg does not have the messaging ability to viably contribute. His pathetically low readership numbers shown from very few commenting responses is a convincing statement to his relative worth in the art of blogging. He is apparently as incompetent at writing as he claims Tebow is at quarterbacking.
TBogg fails in this specific post to fulfill any of the values FDL promotes as central to their purpose. So, TBogg can keep writing Tebow crap or make an honest stab at developing pertinent blog contributions. He might not have the ability to do it, so he has no choice except to post Tebow rants. I am sorry if you have discovered your limitation, but please keep loving those basset hounds. It might be your very best quality in life skills.
The FDL Association supports the writers and publishers of Firedoglake.com website and activities of its publisher, FDL Inc. to achieve the following:
Provide investigative reporting on matters of public interest;
Provide fiercely independent political and policy analysis from a progressive perspective;
Engage in political and policy advocacy relating to proposals, legislation, executive and judicial actions, and candidates for elected, executive and judicial offices;
Provide an internet/blog forum and platform to develop, train, and provide experience for emerging writers, media experts and others engaged in any of the above;
Encourage and provide the means for FDL members to become active participants in democracy and the advancement of progressive values.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
You’re not a fan, you don’t read TBogg. I advise you to seek help here.
Jesus Fucking Christ, you don’t know when to quit, do you?
Unless kids have started wearing fedoras, IT’S NOT A KID.
And, frankly, I think that TBogg does fulfill all of those little goals/achievements you listed. Regularly, and hilariously. But then again, I’m not Lord God King Kamehameha of FDL like you.
Pokeajaundice has been commenting at FDL since June 27 2011. About half of the comments he has posted are in this thread.
Oh for fucks sake!
Jane and I used to email about the weather when she lived a short drive away from me here in Oregon. I’d bet you a big bowl of “eat shit” that was years before you’d ever heard of FDL. Care to guess how many of us commented on FDL in those days?
And you know what? TBogg was around back then too and many of us here were having a great time there in the comment threads.
If any thing, YOU owe us all an apology for being a fucking tool and I’m going to pull FDL seniority and tell you to blow me.
So, by following your thinking FauxNews (which has a kazillion idiot viewers) is more meritorious than, say, DemocracyNow?
Poncho? You’re our new SmoothJazz!
And one last thing Poncho. There’s a huge fucking difference between how many “readers” a blog has versus “comments”.
The other FDL blog comment sections are full of self righteous fucks like you mentally masturbating themselves. Here? Not so much. We prefer to have fun.
TBogg has gored lots of Oxes over the years, and it’s an odd thing that ripping on Juicebox Jesus is the one thing that sent Poncho into his best Alec Rawls imitation. It’s a little implausible that the concern is actually genuine. Either troll or crazy person, not that the two are mutually exclusive.
BTW, Tebow looked pretty decent against the Jones boys last night. He only had one throw which was horrible off target, and although many of the other throws were not exactly on target, his receivers were able to get to the balls and make receptions. The only really bad play was near the end of the half where Tebow caused 3 (THREE!!) penalties on the offense by scrambling past the line of scrimmage then backing up while all of his linemen had already gone downfield to run block and continued to extend the play … endangering himself and the other players with no possibility of a positive play, since it was going to be called back. Smart he is not. A smart quarterback would have realized the play was dead early on and tossed the ball into the ground.
My personal opinion of Tebow. Good athlete. Too dumb to be an NFL quarterback*. He could be a fullback or tight end if he took a couple of years to learn the craft.
*Yes–dumber than Vince Young. By a LOT.
The fact that Brady Quinn (Career QB Rating: 66.8), who wasn’t even good enough for the football wastelands of Cleveland, is giving Tebow a run for his money should be enough proof that being an NFL QB isn’t in the cards for him.
Confusing Duncan Hunter with Duncan Black. Ha ha ha ha!!
And, the idea that lecturing Tbogg (and by extension, his readers) that the proper way to be a liberal is to lose your sense of humor is, in itself, really weird, if not crazy. Now, you may go or you may stay, but please, no more speechifying. It’s really ruining my Karma.
I’m not sure why NFL teams keep repeating the same mistake over and over again. Heisman-winning quarterbacks in general have had a very poor track record in the NFL, and those that hail from one of the big three Florida schools in particular are worst of all. In fact, this trend is so strong that it actually falls outside of statistical margin of error. The same pattern does not apply to other positions that win the award.
If I were in charge of a draft, I would immediately exclude Heisman-winning quarterbacks from consideration.
Oh man, this thread is headed toward classic territory.
I too am aghast at the sarcasm, the blatant christian-bashing and the mocking of Jesus’ favorite son, Timothy Richard. Is nothing sacred? Tim loves Jesus and Jesus loves him back and that’s nothing to laugh about.
Sweet Jesus oiling up Kathryn Jean Lopez and riding her like a motorbike at the X Games, but sanctimonious fuck knuckles do make for entertaining reading.
All that is missing is Dan Riehl.
PonchoLefty, I say this as a rabid Gator fan who enjoyed two national championship seasons with Tebow at the helm of my alma mater’s team: GET STUFFED
TBogg , I’d like to suggest that the next time you post that vapors inducing image (that only a closet kiddy didler would mistake as depicting a child) , that you photo-shop out the “press” sign , and change it to “PonchoLefty’ in honor of your fainting couch flopping troll.
Your probably not aware that before TBogg came to FDL, he had an independent blog that would often have multiple hundreds of comment for a posting. His comment section was a mad free-for-all and fun as hell. Prehaps the lack of comments on his FDL site is more a function of the limiting comment policies here at FDL.
I guess that I’m trying to tell you is that you should maybe just stuff it.
So when did FDL turn into Doughy Pantload?
My formatting got screwed up eight ways to Sunday. Oh well.
“Sweet Jesus oiling up Kathryn Jean Lopez and riding her like a motorbike at the X Games”
I want to marry this comment.
Best comment thread ever! Tbogg, don’t ever stop posting pics of young, sweet innocent children posing as ass-licking (it’s a family blog) jaded journalists.
Geez, TBogg, doncha just hate quarterly performance reviews? Makes ya all insecure about your job n shit. Well, don’t mind them, they do it on purpose just to enforce their superiority or something.
Check TBoggie’s last independent pre-FDL post. Over 1500 comments. A normal day back then LOL. Hilarious then and hilarious still, rhetorically speaking, id est.
Guess I better chime in to boost the numbers around here. Go TBogg!
Let me take a wild guess here: PonchoLefty is aware of all internet traditions.
[dusting off the login, just to make it an even 50 comments]
Now, now…don’t you see that PonchoLefty is doing his sanctimonious best to uphold FDL’s honor against all threats, even the internal ones? What he has failed to take into account is that no one cares about how long he’s been on FDL. At all. Even a bit.
Besides, you follow enough wingnut blogs long enough, and even the difficult 720-backflip-into-fainting-couch-sprawl (with pearl-clutch) just doesn’t wow the judges anymore.
Jumping Jeezus on a pogo stick… I haven’t seen a food fight like this since Paterico left town.
Imma start commenting again all the fucking time if this Ponch creature is gonna stick around. The Duncan Hunter bit was awesome.
However, leave us not get crazy. We shall not see the likes of Alec Rawls or that minion of Godlstein or Godlstein himself, for that matter, having meltdowns in teh TBogg comment threads, again.
I, too, will needlessly swell the number of comments by offering the following points:
1) I seldom comment because I can seldom think of ANYTHING at all that intensifies, amplifies, complements or doesn’t detract from the magically molded pellets of snark I come here to enjoy. It seldom occurs to me to judge them, or elaborate on them. I know my limits.
2) While I don’t enjoy an otherly-dimensional relationship with the late great Townes Van Zant, I suspect PonchoLefty’s bastardization of the title of his song is either clueless and an affront to the great Texas poet’s sensibilities OR an attempt to claim through subtle irony the role of Lefty attempting to sell out TBogg, not that Poncho himself has moved on. The latter possibility seems remote, given his urgent straining and ponderous utterances.
As an undergrad I sometimes attended visiting philosophy lecturers (yeah, I know, I know). One evening this dick let out with “pseudo-paradoxical” and I almost fell into the aisle laughing.
That’s you PL. Have a little respect for the English language.
Oh, and lighten up.
Really? ‘Cause your member profile doesn’t have a single comment earlier than June of this year. Nor do you have any diaries, group memberships or friend connections.
IOW: Concern Troll Is Concerned.
What an E-Ticket this thread has been…
Although my judgment has certainly not been summoned, I think I can only come to the following conclusion:
1. Humboldtblue For The Win.
2. Snabby pulls in at a highly respectable Second Place.
Good work, everyone! Aside from PanchoLefty, there are no losers in this game. What a way to begin a weekend!
I don’t really understand all this logic stuff, so no comment in that department. What I want to know is how they got Tebo to pose for that picture.
There is no question about how they got the press dude to do his thing.
Wow. I think I made a punny.
Thank you TBogg. Thank you witty briliant people commenting. I needed this tonight!
Longtime lurker, first-time commenter. I think.
I just wanted to be the 69th commenter on this thread, but I haven’t got the patience.
“unemployment is a part of my rhetorical persona or identity”
Next time I’m unemployed and somebody asks me my occupation, this is what I’m going to say.
Oh, and I think graphic pictures of naked basset hounds are deeply offensive and don’t reflect proper Progressive messaging rhetoric too also.
I’m surprised that TBogg hasn’t been fired yet. I got to put in all these comments before their turn off the pixel fountain.
At this rate I just might end up being the 69th commenter after all. I can just see somebody beating me to it right under the wire. Damn my pathetic typing skills.
OK, it’s been fun.
ribbit
Let me guess, Poncho. You were just outvoted at your homeowners’ association and someone implied that you had to be a peeping tom to even know that the neighbor’s living room was an unapproved shade of taupe. Otherwise, I don’t hear anyone calling for a political commissar. But, thanks for offering.
Long time reader, rare commenter. I just now registered to show support for this doomed somewhat popular blogger. If you don’t like him, don’t read him; it really is as simple as that.
This is football, and what you guys are really afraid of is the *hint* of Roger Staubach-like, squeaky-clean greatness that the Baby Tebow is exuding in his early pro career…
I’m not sure who this TBow fella is, but I’m a TBogg fan and will brook no criticism of his snarky awesomeness. And Townes Van Zandt appeared to me in a dream and told me he wants his song title back.
Damn, I missed all the fun!
Wow! I’m #69? Well, I give jasperjava honorable mention so s/he can be part of the excitement, too.
I am a daily reader but rare commenter for reason #1 as stated by elnuestros.
Everyone’s just a lot smarter and wittier than I am.
But I can appreciate intelligence and good snark when I see it, so buzz off, PL.
Ah, crap, and I typed too slow to be #69.
Sorry jasperj.
*too slowly — you never know who’s reading.
Well, you and jasperjava get honorable mentions!
Hang in there! Poncho may return for another quick (graphically unforgiving) peep at Tebow having his dolphin pressed, so #690 is still within reach….
Comments? We don’t need no steenking comments!!
T-Bogg: to hell with Poncho. I’ll follow you to the very gates of Intense Debate!!!11!
Wow…not as epic as some of the comment threads back on the old blog, but a nice flashback nonetheless.
yes, that comment, in the motorcycling world, gives new meaning to the word “Hog”.
This comment is not a comment, merely the registration of a comment for number-padding purposes.
Good morning, almost all.
I wish to associate myself with the above comments.
Also, too.
Wow, is poncho for real? If that’s the readership of FDL, then maybe we should build a better wall to keep them out.
Speaking of “pseudo-paradoxical”, one is left to ponder that the only way Ponch could increase the humor quotient around here is by being utterly humorless, thereby spurring Tbogg’s minions into an orgy of righteous snark.
And speaking of minions being sent to do his bidding, if you could talk John Lithgow into reading Ponch’s missives, there’d be a free pony in it for someone.
Or Shatner.
Merely because I only come here to check out the bassets and b) read some great snark, I hereby add my voice to those above calling poncho a …….
Is it too late to be the 86th commenter to tell PaunchoLeftout to go piss up a drainpipe?
Or is that too “specifically vicious, graphically unforgiving, and totally out of bounds”?
Either way, I’ll wait for Jane’s “open Apology to Tim Tebow and the sports writers that suck his dick” letter that will surely appear on the home page any day now.
That’s pretty harsh! I was not nearly so hurtful, only telling Poncho “to blow me”….
Christ, I had to work my way through five more recent posts to learn that TBogg had finally been ratted out for posting kiddy porn rather than the FDL-mandated concern porn, thus stamping “U R DOOMED!” on his pitiful yet somewhat popular internet career.
I’m gonna ask Jane to give TBogg’s blog-space to Pinch-O-Lurky, ’cause that dude knows how to generate some comments!
More thread padding. Not that it needs it. But:
Tim Tebowuh, PanchoLefty–oughtn’t you be studying your playbook so that (when you get cut on Tuesday August 30th after the Seattle game) you can learn to do your job? Thanks.heh.
Famous person + displays of terminal stupidity = fair game for commentary.
I read TBogg nearly every day, but rarely comment. Just want to artificially up the comment numbers.
Oh, and Apparently Obligatory Progressive MessagingⓇ message: Agreed. Rudy sucks.
.
See, this is what I get for not reading a <strong>”somewhat” popular blogger over the weekend:
The soi-disant “progressive” version of smoothjazz.
And as the guy who “knows a thing or two about a thing or two”, as another TBogg commenter said during “The smoothjazz Incident”, I really feel like I missed out on a carload of fun.
Well, whatever his talents in throwing people over the bus (see how I worked back to QB-type things?), I sure do hope PanchoLoser didn’t get scared off like poor beleaguered smoothjazz, and comes back with more snark-worthy commentary.
And, hey, lookee — it’s almost up to triple digits in the comments!
