Take away the shipping and Snowbilly books are cheaper than firewood (click to enlarge):
Not to be outdone by Mama Grizzly, Titshimmy’s book is making a run for the Borders remainders table after only eight weeks:
My favorite part is eyeshop2000 pointing out that their copy is a “1st edition” because that will be important someday on Antique Roadshow 2108 when Bristol’s great-great-grandson, Steel Radial Palin-Winklevoss, is proclaimed Exalted High Mooseking of the Sacred Ratty-Ass Bump-it of Wasilla snowtribe.
The book will be worth at least three bullets and an iodide pill which will be quite valuable in the time of the post-President Bachmann “Shortcut To Rapture” sickness…

You know what’s more rare than a 1st edition? A 2nd, because very few books sell enough to warrant a second printing.
Last I heard, Borders were closing shop at the end of the month… perhaps they made a fatally flawed decision to order a shit-ton of Palin publications on an ill-advised gamble that there’d somehow be demand for it from an audience other than the paper mills.
Well, I’m sure this thread will be a barrel of joviality as long as no one mentions the greatest, rottenest, ultra-progressive corporate-stooge president ever.
My favorite part is that the princely sum of $10 gets you a “collectible” edition of Sarah’s book…

Damn it’s hard to get stuff through these intertoobs.
$0.99 is highway robbery.
I want to meet the people who paid the full $25. I can’t imagine anyone doing that unless they were family or friends.
They should list how much they’d pay you to take the damn book off their hands….

I’m sure the first printing was much larger than it needed to be. Thus, when the book gets remaindered, the $5 copies will also be “1st editions.”
Oh sure, laugh all you want, but many trees died to bring those books to the remainder bins.
You know tho, I don’t think you can buy mulch that cheaply either.
I’m betting the slick paper makes it worthless for that tho.
I want to meet
the peoplesomeone whopaidadmits to paying the full $25.The price for a used copy is $.01; just don’t get Rich Lowry’s. “Used” takes on a different meaning.
Well done.
What do they add to the “value” that makes a “collectible” @ $10?
Great – I better sell my snowbilly futures and invest it all in corndogs and loons. I hear those are growth markets.
A friend of mine picks up paperbacks ghosted o/b/o political cretins for about a quarter apiece at yard sales. He uses them as emergency fire starters and toilet paper when he goes climbing, because they’re light, compact, and fit easily inside a zip-lock baggie.
My guess is that Palin’s book would make awful toilet paper, since the pages are already full of shit.
A robosigned reproduction of a photo?
At $0.99, it is more than competitive with toilet paper- but there is no love with the surface texture. Not to mention the havoc it would wreak on the (home)plumbing system. Best to leave it in the outhouses where the stench from the subject matter would mingle in harmony with the actual location.
Bastard! You owe me most of a cup of coffee… and possibly a new computer keyboard!
It’s not often I nearly pass out from laughing…
