Mrs TBogg and I were very fortunate to get to see Ryan Adams solo acoustic show at the acoustically perfect Balboa Theater on Tuesday night and, if you can score a ticket (most if not all of his shows in the US are already sold out), do so. Two and a half hours of a charming and funny (imagine that) Adams with his voice as good as I’ve ever heard him live. A special treat was Jason Isbell, formerly of the Drive-By Truckers who made a lot of new fans with a nice acoustic set of his own.
The high school gymnasium’s ready
Full of flowers and old Legionnaires
Nobody showed up to protest
Just sniffle and stareThere’s red, white and blue in the rafters
And there’s silent old men from the Corps
What did they say when they shipped you away
To fight somebody’s Hollywood war?Nobody here could forget you
You showed us what we had to lose
You never planned on the bombs in the sand
Or sleepin’ in your dress blues
You never planned on the bombs in the sand
Or sleepin’ in your dress blues

OT, but TBogg is stating a mini-way next door. The Firebaggers have found a new Mumia…..
I wouldn’t call it a mini war, exactly. But he did nail it with the “I hate Obama so much I’ll overlook genocide” thing.
If you keep showing Shakira’s Ass it may achieve escape velocity and then we would all be doomed, or blessed depending on your frame of reference.
It could be a whole new planet. And the astronomy schools would all fill up and scientists would have to fight for telescope time.
And kid’s would all be asking to stay up late when the Full Shakira is out.
