Obviously I’m losing my touch and hence will fail to repeat as National Champion in Andrew Sullivan’s Super Wicked Cool Moore Award Pageant to crown the left-wing blogger who was the biggest meanest poopy-head of the year. Therefore I endorse Dan Savage who already deserves a Lifetime Achievement award for his stellar work in The Infinite Ruination Of The Santorum Brand.

U will always be teh Best Darn Poopy-Head in teh World to us.
Does this mean that you’re no longer Somewhat Popular? That I can no longer look forward to seeing derogatory comments involving your name scrawled onto urinal screens in public men’s rooms?
The horror!….
So, you’re closing up shop?
heh… loved the quote that won ya teh Grand Poobah of Poopy-Heads award, TBogg! har! A fabulous golden oldie worth repeating.
I concur, though, that Dan Savage definitely deserves the Poobah crown this year for his clearly outstanding achievement pushing the Santorum Brand. True genius, that.
From Sullivan’s award page:
This really may be close to the most pompous load of self-important preening that I’ve ever read online.
So let’s examine this a little. Michael Moore makes movies and does interviews and so on from the perspective of a left-wing Democrat. He’s pretty critical of what he (and I) see as corporate sell-outs known as the Blue Dogs, and is sometimes, though not always, critical of President Obama also.
So since Moore is a Democrat, how is this not criticizing “his side”? Is the claim here that Moore would have to criticize other progressive left-wing Democrats to be brave and honorable? Did Andrew Sullivan miss the part where Moore was highly critical of Ralph Nader when he was threatening to run again for President, with Moore and Bill Maher getting down on their knees in one lighthearted (but sincere) moment begging Nader not to run?
Now let’s turn to Matt Yglesias, Sullivan’s ideal, the epitome of risking all for your lofty principles. Because see, I’ve always seen people like Yglesias as for the most part risking nothing, doing everything to stay in the good graces of the Village. Does anyone really think that it’s “risking” anything in this country to slam left-wing progressives? Does anyone think for that matter that Michael Moore isn’t putting his reputation at risk by taking the stands he does? The fact that Andrew Sullivan can smugly issue this snide “award” under his name is pretty much a refutation of that.
You risk nothing, nada, by being this snotty and dismissive of someone like Michael Moore, who can be sort of melodramatic and theatrical at times, don’t get me wrong, but who mostly just holds up a mirror to the nonsense that passes for our political system and society in general, but is seen by the Village as the most serious threat they face. You actually risk quite a bit, especially over the last decade or so, by being the one taking such strong positions and thus making them so afraid of you.
What an arrogant little puffed-up peacock Sullivan is.
Okay, sorry, back to the funny stuff.
Savage seems safe but Rubin has pulled way ahead of Sullivan in the Von Hoffman Award category. I couldn’t really bring myself to vote for either of them. But Savage got two of mine; that still works.
Perhaps if you would’ve started every blog post by thanking your lord and savior jesus christ and replaced Thursday Night Basset Blogging with Thursday Night Tebow Blogging you’d have more trophies, which, of course, is sort of the opposite of what your lord and savior jesus christ would want, the trophies that is….
Andrew Sullivan’s Super Wicked Cool Moore Award Pageant to crown the left-wing blogger who
was the biggest meanest poopy-head of the yearembarassed Mr. “Liberals are Al-Qaeda’s Fifth Column” the most by being right. Not winning this would be a terrible blow to your ego if anybody gave a shit about anything Andrew Sullivan does.
I love his “No party or clique” header.
Dude is the douchiest of Beltway insiders and doesn’t even know it.
You gotta do a lot of pompous self-important preening to obscure the fact that you’re a racist and Bell Curve apologist.
What to do, what to do…. I love Dan Savage and if he wants this, then I’ll vote for him even if it makes me have to recognize that the thing known as Andrew Sullivan still exists.
