My first Dog was Jennie, the Dachshund. Queen of everything, determined digger, fierce Protector of the Family, I loved her more than anyone I’ve ever known. I’m sorry Oliver – there just doesn’t seem to be any other trade off.
Been there too often, and yet we keep going back to the well. Once you find that a dog fills a hole you didn’t know you had, nothing else seems to fit.
Aw, what a sweet-looking little guy. Nice of you to pass on the news, TBogg. All of us who have “been there too many times” send our sympathy to Mr. Willis. I like the way, in his paean to C.K., he continues to use the present tense in reference to his love for his best friend.
It sucks that dogs have so little time in this world. It is a blessing that they don’t measure time and live only in the moment. Now is all they know.
Condolences passed along.
Aww, and such a cute little guy.
Condolences to Mr. Willis.

I’ve been there, too. One of the last things you want to see yourself experiencing is being ushered backstage at the vet’s office.
It’s not dogs’ “unconditional love” that makes it so poignant. It’s their unsullied, eternal innocence.

Always a sad day when you lose a 4 legged buddy. We treat ours like the neer-do-well son that will never leave the nest.
I came in from the previous post…thought this might be a thread on Tony Blankley. Another voice gone from the RW chorus line…
My sympathy and condolences to Mr. Willis, his family and friends. They may be small, but they leave such a large large hole when they leave us…
aww, I am so sorry to hear that. Condolences to Mr. Willis.

That’s because we never stop loving them. I still tell long-gone cats how much I miss and love them. So sorry for the Willis clan.
The cliche is true. They’re little, but they leave a big hole. Here’s to memories to hold onto. My sympathy.
