Shorter Rick Moran and Michelle Malkin and some idiot at Weasel Zippers:
Yeah. It’s just like Barack Obama to side with the niggers over the killing of that black kid. What a racist…
These guys were just waiting for their moment to let the ugly out, and that moment is now because this is what President Obama said:
“When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids,” Obama said in Rose Garden remarks. “I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this. And that everybody pull together.”
[...]
“My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said. “All of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves.”
“Obviously this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through,” Obama said. “All of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how something like this has happened.”
That’s so racist.

Great picture. These folks want to go back to 1957, even though in Malkin’s case it would mean that she would not allowed to have a career. Weird. It’s like they don’t realize what they are saying, or maybe they’re just in it for that sweet wingnut welfare check, and they’ll say whetever their corporate master tell them to?? Occam’s Razor.
“But for the past several days, zealous libs on Twitter have demanded that I “say something.”
Oh, Michele, this one demands the exact opposite, just shut the fuck up.
Great picture. These folks want to go back to
19571857, even though in Malkin’s case it would mean that she would not allowed to have a career.Fixed
Such awful people. I comfort myself by knowing it really sucks to be them. So spiteful and enraged and always on the verge of a real tantrum.
I watched the Obama response, and he never addressed the real issue: wearing hoodies. Now, I know that, as a candidate, he went on record in 08 saying that young fellows should not let their pants drop down so far as to reveal their underwear, but can we not expect the leader of this nation to insist on proper attire not only below the waist but above it? He may claim to be leading by example, but the public demands more than that. Does he not understand that the wearing of these sloppy excuses for a garment — some woman on MSNBC has been photographed setting a bad example — is absolute incitement to mayhem? Well, not may-hem but abso-posilutely-hem. After all, who could resist aerating one of those abominations? Answer me that!

It is obvious to all right(wing) thinking(sic) AmuriKKKans that not celebrating the slaughter of a black kid before he has a chance to breed is totally racist!
PBO cannot comment on the specifics of this case and I certainly wouldn’t want him to make his opinions on the case part of the national conversation. He cannot inflame, politicize, and prejudice the case before the GJ issues an indictment. Even then, I suspect he’ll wait until a trial is held and justice is served. This is true leadership, IMHO.
These are people who think the Community Reinvestment Act is primarily to blame for the financial crisis. What more needs to be said, really?
They’re willing to blame low-income black people and their advocates passing a relatively toothless law in the late 1970s for a massive Wall Street-induced depression that happened about 3 decades after. I mean just think about that.
The President, by not mentioning hoodies, is obviously advocating the killing of Weather Channel personnel who broadcast during various storm situations.
If only they knew how to dress appropriately during these emergencies.
::
This is true, but he could have called on the Republican National Committee to stop selling these inflammatory items of clothing, at least until the investigation is complete.
The problem with the Malkins of the world is that, to them, they’re on the correct side. Thus, if she had been around, say, during WW2, others might have been interred, but not her. Because she’s special.*
Basically, logic/facts/reasoning never enters into it because it’s all tribal, and based on the right’s quest to destroy those Not Like Them. Period. Everything else is just white noise (um, so to speak).
(* Yes, special in that short bus kind of way as well.)
I repeat – I would like to shake all of these people silly. Stand them on their little pointy heads and spin them around so fast that drill straight down.
Awful, awful, awful.
I think you need to be nominated to start drafting a new national dress code. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head here!
Just like that Obama, to tell us that white sons aren’t good enough for him and he would never have one. Obviously, he’s a racist.
Since nobody has linked to it, I can’t tell if the hoodie-related comments are in response — but Geraldo actually said this, out loud and with a straight face.
Follow-up: Geraldo’s real-life son thinks his father’s a dick.
Asshole Santorum was in my neighborhood this morning. He went to a local gun range and shot a pistol, proving he’s a badass.
Of course some local asshole said “Prentend it’s Obama,” while Dipshit was shooting.
Really. Fuck these people. What a bunch of nasty people.
Hmmm, think this would do for a start? I think I’ve still got mine, somewhere.
Spin

You are of course completely correct. It’s just that I was reading the BJ thread on Geraldo and it drove me to
distractionthe more comfortable surroundings of this joint, with my head in a whirl. Also, too, I am proofreading a very long (and badly edited) bibliography, so my brane hurts and I have to take breaks regularly. And I really do have one of those collectors items …It isn’t just the “Right” who are wrong on this issue. Where are the left wing concern trolls, like “Reality Check” and his buddies?
Why aren’t they here demanding that O’Bama be primaried because, “…After all, isn’t it obvious that O’bama’s policies are allowing African American boys to be murdered in the streets? …”
Are they not speaking out because it is easier and cleaner to wring your hands on the Internet over esoteric “Wonkery”? Heaven forbid that we all get a little dirty tying to change reality for the better closer to home.
And, I am just as guilty as everybody else for not doing enough.
I have to admit, that I am amazed at the sheer number of cheap-shot artists in national right wing media. It’s just hack after hack with them …
What kind of sick fucking country do we live in anyway? Track down a boy and gun him down and go free? WTF!!!
I may be in the minority, but I certainly think it does not help the conversation to start this FDL commentary with the N-word; hard to make that look like the high-ground.
Ordinarily, I would agree but this has been going on for some time now and still no one does anything and that ass Geraldo even suggested it was the hoodie that caused it all. This whole affair is infuriating.
I clicked on one of the links and now I want to go vomit.
poor Michelle….too bad she isnt white as the driven snow…mebbe some bleach would help the poor dear.
As far as Geraldo Rivera is concerned, even the normally low-class Michelle Malkin has bluntly dumped him:
“Side note: At least left, right, and center can all agree: Geraldo Rivera is an assclown.”
I keep saying those FEMA re-edumication camps might not be such a bad idea….
The other aspect about Trayvon’s murder that has me concerned is the similarities between it and the Rodney King Beating.
The Police, in both cases, got caught behaving as if whatever happens to African American men/boys doesn’t matter. Then they behaved as if their main concern was self-justification and CYA. Plus, they got an inflammatory assist in this effort from the “Right Wing” press.
I just hope the Legal Experts who say the “Stand Your Ground” law makes it impossible to convict Zimmerman are wrong and/or that the Police screw-ups don’t allow him to walk.
The LA Riots will be nothing compared to what could happen if rioting broke out in Florida, a State full of people who have been arming themselves for years in preparation for the coming Race Wars.
Please visit any of the links and then come back and explain how you would conduct this (or any other) “Conversation” with these folks.
You don’t understand. It’s
complicatedobscurifiable.Sorry, Im not about too…As noted above, vomit. Why bother? And I do not see any reward in joining trash talk….Thanks. Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas, as they say. Thanks for the information.
RevBev — I appreciate your comment. But I also understand that sometimes we need a bit of shock (use of the n-word in this instance) to get us to focus even more than we already do.
Just a different point of view….I do not, for instance, want Rush or Ann Coulter on my radio….that stuff really is pollution.
Understandable. I’m in two minds, myself, which is why I ended up making fun of the stupid obsession with hoodies and such-like — a retreat in the direction of snark. But I had already gone to the “Weasel” site briefly and been absolutely devastated by the comments I read; admittedly I didn’t scroll down very far, but they seemed unanimous. Regrettably the line TBogg used is a pretty fair summary of the content. And I think that we need to know just how bad it is.
We need to gut this out. We absolutely need to re-elect the President, and in 2016 we equally need to elect a good successor. The people who make those vile comments are in the minority, I firmly believe, and in their hearts they know they have lost. We are witnessing the flailing of the desperate. That’s hard to hold onto, but I believe it. I am over 60, and I expect to live to see a better country than some of these people make it seem to be. Because when I go outside, away from the Interwebtubes, that’s usually what I encounter. We shall overcome.
I heard she rubs up against people with vitiligo hoping that she’ll catch it. Poor dear doesn’t realize it’s noncommunicable.
Yeah, he made the right speech after he said he wasn’t going to comment on it.
And then the mini-shitstorm started to break on his head, and I imagine he checked with his advisers to see if it was politically feasible for a reacher-outer, bipartisan preznint to weigh in, and presto! We have instant courage.
Thanks for your thoughtful note….I so hope you are right. Snark and cruelty and cynicism get really old.
Bev, I tried other words but frankly, none of the other ones had quite the kick to accurately describe the way those people think.
LeBron James & his teammates are just asking to be shot.
This isn’t the first time hoodies were used as political protest. Remember Eminem’s “Mosh” video before the 2004 election?
As white as I am, I actually went to Target (yeah, I’m white. And old) and purchased a black hoodie, which I have to this day, although it doesn’t fit quite as well as it did eight years ago. Suburban western Mass, represent!
Thanks…Is it worth your time and smarts to give those folks space? Im really not sure since their dialogue/POV are obscene. And the N word needs to die.
Did you ever see the movie The Last Picture Show….One man said with disgust something like “Ive been dealing with that trash all my life….” Who needs it?
…and look what happened when he did, now people are trying to make it about him. The President isn’t a blogger; he can’t just shoot from the hip and express outrage because, unlike myself, his words have greater weight whether it be tainting a potential jury pool or accusations of inciting a lynch mob. His job is to actually do something, i.e. instructing the Justice Department to oversee the proceedings. You say he waited until too late, the rightwingers think he jumped in to early. That makes them your bedfellows in the Everything Obama Does Is Wrong camp.
Enjoy the hatred …. you’re soaking in it.
Bless you, you have a kind heart and a wonderful perspective. You are right, of course, about the obscene nature of the dialogue on the other side.
But, (you knew this “but” was coming, right?) we read Tbogg because he has the guts and the stomach and the brains and the snark to venture into these cesspools and report back. So we don’t have to.
Like the “N” word, they aren’t going away, and to pretend otherwise is naive and probably, in the end, almost suicidal. Politically, at least.
To paraphrase Reader’s Digest, probably my least favorite mainstream publication of all-time, “Snark is the best medicine.”
Now you’re addressing my mission in life (besides developing a deep rich tan), the reason I do what I do on my blog is to shine a light on these people. You may remember that our country was pretty blase about war until we started seeing it live and in our living rooms during Vietnam. It’s easy to say there are bad people in the world who should be shunned, but it’s a real kick in the gut when you see it in action. Martin Luther King’s speeches were inspiring, but film of civil rights marchers being attacked by dogs and police with nightsticks and fire hoses is what moved America to say “enough”.
That’s why I do – and choose the words that I choose – what I do.
That, and the leggy supermodels…
Oh come on, we all know Fenway has his paw up your back to make your mouth move
Well, someone smart anyway
I agree with Tbogg on this one. I undersand how you feel, but pretending that these people don’t really think this way doesn’t help.
I am a youth soccer coach in Santa Ana, CA, which is a majority Hispanic city (and the County Seat) in Orange County. Santa Ana is bodered by several predominantly White cities. My teams often travelled to these cities to play in tournaments. You wouldn’t believe the crap that was being said about my players (10-13 year old kids), by the parents from these cities when they thought it was just us “White Folk” hanging around.
Bev — I think petesh said better what I was trying to say in my comment. (Thanks, sir.)
i’m not enjoying the hatred; just pointing out some facts that are inconvenient for you.
You put up a thread with Obama’s nice speech, as if he was seething with anger, and was making a courageous decision to step into the pulpit.
It’s bullshit.
Martin was killed on Feb. 26, almost a month ago. Obama had nothing to say for, I think, at least a couple of weeks. and the groundswell of anger kept building, as well it should have. At some point, the Shirley Sherrod graph line was crossed, and his silence became, one more time, deafening. He’s looking so tone-deaf to the things that are defining his presidency in ways that are shameful, that I imagine some of his people had to do a “My pet goat” intervention on him and tell him that he needed to chime in, or this was going to be one more piece of evidence of what a political coward he is. So he finally spoke up.
I’ve seen some people use the excuse of not commenting on a pending investigation, but that’s nonsense. Nothing has changed on that from the initial days after the shooting, and now. No legal dateline was crossed. All that happened is that the outrage kept building, and he and his people got it through their bipartisan heads that he was starting to look like some kind of poll-sucking politician who could only be made to even talk about the right thing when his ass was starting to smoke.
And it was starting to smoke.
That you are joining the pom-pom wavers is sad, to say the least. Just as with this thread, that enlisting is going to involve some very selective “reporting”.
SoCal Blues is like the Aryan Nation of soccer.
I am ironing “Don’t shoot I’m white” on all my hoodies now.
just in case.
“You say he waited until too late. The right-wingers say he jumped in too early.”
What is this, positional presidential evaluation?
Because it sure sound like what you’re saying is:
“The extremists on the right are after him, and so are the extremists on the left. That proves Obama is right in the center, where he should be and where he’s accomplished SOOO much.”
Did the success we had in the mid-terms lead you to this kind of thinking?
And the Trayvon story was big news back on 2/26? No. No it wasn’t. It only blossomed in the past week or so as the police seemed about to do nothing about it. So… bullshit.
You want to loath Obama because he hasn’t been your progressive sugardaddy, then do it. But don’t pull that “he was waiting for a politically opportune time to wade into it” crap. I didn’t see Al Sharpton trampling all over Obama’s back to get down there until yesterday. You think Al was checking the poll numbers?
Idiot.
No, I’m saying that you’re as fucking retarded about this as the rightwingers who are screaming about it. There. Clear enough for you? Need pictures in case you can’t get some to explain it to you?
oh and for added fun, billo is reminding everyone that he’s not a racist because he was impressed that no one in that Harlem restaurant was yelling for their mofo ice tea! for some reason that little tableau was resurrected on his own show recently.
We have this little cognitive dissonance going on, in which the worse things that the peckerheads say about Obama, somehow that makes him a better president in the eyes of some democrats.
Just think: if he and Netanyahu pull the trigger on Iran, all that you guys have to do is find some lunatic republican who will swear on a stack of bibles that Obama’s a serial child molester, and it will be like Bush and Iraq: saying anything critical will mean that you’re a “hater”.
you know, I haven’t been around for a while, but I don’t remember you dominating every thread with the Obama bashing like ya have today. Wow.
I’m not an obama fan. just sayin’ take your turn and then give someone else a chance. that is all.
No, you’re doing ass-covering for Obama duty here. It was as wrong on Feb. 27th as it is today, but in the past few days, he was starting to catch some serious shit from conscientious progressives, and he couldn’t get away with hiding under his desk.
By the way, Al Sharpton is not the president and has no pulpit.
Dipshit.
Dosido, the threaders on here are using the wing nuts to distract critics of Obama.
TBogg put up the thread about Obama’s fine speech. I think it’s eminently fair to point out that it took him nearly a month to speak out on this. And the simple fact is that he didn’t do it until his political ass was in the fire…again.
Always saying everything critical makes you a hater.
Well, retarded or not, I’m not waving the pom-pons for the “Obama sucks less!” team, and with this thread you’re halfway into the little tutus. At least.
No, no, darls – not that UR spinning – I want to spin these awful pibbles by their pointy liddle heads til they all frow up. SPIN SPIN SPIN!
(When I wrote it, I realised that it could be misunderstood – the intertubes u noes.)
I understand entirely about the bibliography. There’s a zone, and outside of it, teh brane iz all custardy….
So, it’s ok if we call Obama a pussy? or will that ignite some other shit storm.
And Al Sharpton never met a racial controversy he wouldn’t stick his nose in and yet it took him until yesterday to make an appearance. And, last I checked, he did have a pulpit on MSNBC, which, I know, is just part of the corporate hegemony or duopoly or whatever you purer-than-thou types are calling it these days
…and teh Dogz?
You are mistaken. Whether you are wrong, well, that’s up to you. But you are unquestionably mistaken. And badly.
No.
Because it’s both stupid and wrong. If you like being both stupid and wrong, of course – go ahead. You will still be both stupid and wrong.
Jesus H. Tebow, man, get over yourself.
I taught my kids, don’t get mad, run up the score. 10-0 is the sweetest revenge.
Although calling Obama a pussy really wasn’t the point, at times, he does come off as one.
Apparently, you missed the ‘pussy’ fiasco where we were told pussy just isn’t a word used by ‘those who shine in the bright light of true liberalism’ and unworthy of FDL patronage.
ah… never mind, it wasn’t funny to begin with.
“You are wrong”.
I am right. Barack Obama had four weeks to “discover” that something very wrong had taken place in Sanford.
He could have said plenty about:
The culture of violence against minorities, especially, black people, in america, and the fact that so much of it has gone unpunished.
The ease with which guns can be obtained and carried around, in some states. Of course, that would have put him in the shitter with the NRA and the gun lobby, but it’s not like he’s not there, already…the votes he would lose from those people won’t amount to enough for a pick-up basketball game, if he stood up against them, but just as with Gabby Giffords, he hid out in the White House loo, until things had died down enough for him to safely talk about it.
This was political expediency, and nothing else. Tbogg is just mad because, on this one, he wrote like a two-bit hooker for Obama, and I pointed out that he’s lugging around a sack of quarters.
One more time: the threaders on here are not sacred. None of us are. The things I pointed to, are real. The timeline is true. This isn’t the Vatican and he’s not the Pope. He’s not so perfect that he can’t take a little stick on something like this.
Believe me; this thing of ignoring Obama’s years-long cowardice is going to cause some real problems when the campaign heats up. He’s in a position where his support is that mile wide and one inch deep. I think that the triangulating is just getting cranked up, and too many bloggers are going to be using the fact that the GOP wingers are, as usual, talking out of their asses, to try to slide Obama’s “centrist” policies.
Who do you want to be President in 2013?
because the choice is going to be between a guy who didn’t talk out soon enough about the tragedy of a black kid getting murdered and a guy who thinks black kids in hoodies should all be ran down and shot.
and that is going to be our choice.
Oh, please. Al Sharpton lost his street cred years ago. Among other things, he’s had a bromance going with Mayor Bloomberg, that well-known radical, since at least the Sean Bell shooting in 2007. (Actually, to be precise, Sharpton calls it “mutually beneficial flirting”.) Maybe it’s because of the $110,000 his National Action Network got from Education Equality Project, a Bloomberg-funded nonprofit.
And he’s your go-to guy on whether or not this is newsworthy as “racial controversy”? And the criterion for when Obama should weigh in? Why don’t you just ask Michael Steele or Alan Keys?
I’m glad Obama finally said something. And, hopefully, the observation about his own son might prompt him to develop a spine on this topic. But a profile in courage, it ain’t.
Shorter tanbark: Appeal to the Mumia/Grayson/Feingold wing and victory will surely be ours!
Are you sure you’re not Mark Penn? Bob Shrum?
“This was political expediency, and nothing else.”
So fucking what? There’s a news flash: Obama’s a politician.
But when he did speak, he said the exact right thing. As opposed to the wingnuts, who defend the cold-blooded killing of a 17 year old kid.
I finished it! And I was not at all offended … well, not by you
That’s not what I asked, I was expecing “tanbark” to give me the name of a real, live person.
But, if that’s what you believe, then I’ll ask you the same question.
Who do you want to be president in 2013?
Let’s see … after the way the President has handled himself, we have a suspended police chief and a federal investigation, with prospects of prosecution such that the knee-jerk right is going nuts. Hmm, reminds me of something (and yes, I know, that was a bad one but it’s still a good line).
I want to know why all of you haven’t been down in Florida camping out and protesting since 2/26? Why do you hate African-Americans? Huh? Well…?
The Trayvon Martin story blew up this week with more revelations. Until this past weekend, it was a Florida story. You might as well ask those people who took part in the million hoodie march why it took so long. We’re they waiting for polls? Or just cowardly? But you guys want the president to stick his nose in every event just as soon as it happens because…. it somehow makes you feel better about him.
You don’t want a president, you want a Twitterer in Chief. You want a symbolic gesture. Talk about easily bought off…
none of the above, is that a choice?
but I’ll be voting for Obama, because I’ll take the status quo over some randian and/or theocratic overlordship.
Do you feel this passionate about all the African American boys gunned down everyday in this country?
Or do you only give a shit about the ones you think you can use to flog the President?
I gave a similar reply to that same question back in 1980. Except, I said John Anderson (not Jimmy Carter).
That was one the biggest mistakes in my life. At least I learned my lesson, and it seems like you understand the point of my question as well.
But, there are too many people who hate the President, like you do, that just understand what is really at stake when they let ideological purity blind them to the reality they actually face.
hey huntlabron
Fuck you for that comment. you dumb fuck.
Hunh.
Not only wrong. But tiresome! Hopa!
See this is why TBogg iz G_dly.
San Diego gives u a certain vision. San Diego iz a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way away from FLorida. Stuff happens in Florida and pibbels in San Diego don’t allas hear about the stuff.
U noes. America.
we’re done talking at this point.
I don’t hate anyone, certainly not Obama.
Eggselent!
I love footnotes. I noes – it’s weird. I volunteer to write footnotes. Also, bibliographies.
Something in the blood.
O! What a darling little thing u are.
ToddE & huntlabron – you guys need to cool your jets. I think you’re talking past each other while on the same side. ToddE made a joke and not everyone got it. But seriously, you guys are going at each other over a misunderstanding.
As the saying goes:
With friends like you …
Certainly I am tired of dealing with all of this.
All I want to do is nestle under Wembley’s ears. Also. With Arthur.
I also comment on my kids, when I think they have done something I don’t approve of, I don’t hate them one bit.
You can disagree with someone, and not hate them,
to have some assholke insinuate that they only reason another person would care about a black person’s death is so that they can come and say something bad about obama.
That a fucked up way of thinking.
That seemed to be a reasonable question at the time.
Since you felt justified in calling President Obama a coward for not speaking about Trayvon quickly enough, and he hasn’t yet spoken about the deaths any of the boys mentioned above either …
I am only treating you with the same level of respect you have been showing the President.
From your reaction:
1) The truth hurts.
2) If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the Kitchen.
actually, I was making a joke about the not PC use of the word pussy in Tboggs posts.
Tbogg said pussy in a prior post, and a uber-leftist feminist was offended by the use of the word. I was thinking maybe this uber leftist would allow the use of the word as long as it was used in relation to Obama.
it had nothing to do with Obama. I am sorry if you had your feelings hurt.
and then you had to get all asshole-y and douchebag-y about it.
so fuck you, again.
Were did I call Obama a coward?
I asked if we could call him a pussy.
but hey, if defending the most powerful man in the world is what you do to ‘fight the power’… knock yourself out.
well, only if you’re an asshole.
Reasonable people don’t imply the worst motives on others, assholes do.
Two or three days ago I wrote that Zimmerman would be revealed to be a police cadet or a prison guard. Not quite yet but he was working on his criminal justice degree. Another wannabe in killing mode doing the work of the cops who then and probably are now still tellin’ good ol’ Zim he’ll get some type of immunity. He’ll lawyer up and he’s had 30 days to cover his ass. What Obama said was typical of a parent with children; black, white or whatever. This tragedy and so many others are all the proof this guy needs that we live in a shooting gallery of sorts: a madhouse, a tilt-a-whirl and tent are the only props missing in this story.
Pressing 100 on a Friday afternoon. I thought realitychecker must have gotten butthurt about something again.
Carry on….
TGIFNSASEWJSTHUB my Lord, Kumbaya…
C’mon everybody, you know the words!
You are right. You only said that he comes off as if he were a pussy sometimes. in my haste to keep up with the thread, I probably read right through the break between your comment and “tanbark” ‘s which immediately follows yours (without realizing it), where he does accuse the President of cowardice.
I mistakenly attributed “tanbark’s” words to you and I apologize for that error.
P.S. I don’t blame you for getting as angry as you did given my blunder.
You know who else used the word uber? Hitler, that’s who.
But then again on the subject of implying that he is a pussy.
I look at O’bama as the Jackie Robinson of Presidents. He has to be very careful not to give his opposition any actions, words, whatever … that could be used, no matter tenuously, to portray him as a wild eyed, radical N—-r who’s main goal in life is to stick it to “Whitey”. If that happens then he is a failure, because he will not be elected to a second term and then the Koch’s will pick the next two Supreme Court Justices. If that happens then we are all screwed!
Even if he is a mediocre President by any other measure, he will be a God send to this Country if he wins that second term.
I also believe that now that the populace is riled up, that he will be a much more forceful President if he wins a second term. You have to have the people behind you to be a Good President.
You really want to go there? Fine.
The Trayvon Martin killing brings back some very horrid memories for me. I was involved with a black woman for 17 years (married for the last 8). She lost a brother to — well, let’s call it “institutional violence”, since I can’t legally say otherwise. While we were waiting for the morgue to pick up the body, I had to face down five white NYPD officers who wanted to cuff his brother for threatening suicide, while he was already in an EMT vehicle, on a gurney, with 3 EMTs and his father.
So don’t you dare lecture me — even sarcastically — about concern for African-Americans, especially those who are victims of violence, just because I think maybe Obama lacks a tad in the intestinal fortitude category.
And, yes, tell me: why was I, a 61-year-old white man, demonstrating in Union Square in a hoodie before Obama said so much as “Boo” on the subject? I signed the family’s petition as soon as I saw any news on the topic at all, about two weeks ago; I presume the President gets news at least as frequently as I do, so where was he (even metaphorically) for the last two weeks?
I say positive things about Obama when they’re warranted. Hell, look at my first comment in this thread; I’m defending him. Over at Charlie’s place, I was the first commenter to bring up what the President said about his own son (Charlie focused on the Justice Dept. and Gov. Scott).
Good for him for saying that — but please don’t tell me it’s some kind of big deal. Fer crissakes, Eisenhower nationalized the Arkansas National Guard AND called out the 101st Airborne to get nine little girls in school when Gov. Faubus wouldn’t let them. (And, as you may recall, he was a Republican.)
But when are you, TBogg, ever going to say that Obama was wrong or made a mistake or is something less than a saint? Not now, not when he orders extrajudicial assassinations of Americans, not when he won’t even propose a public option, not when he appoints to run the economy the same Moe, Larry, and Curly who drove it into the ditch in the first place. Is there anything he could do or say that you wouldn’t defend? I’m asking in all seriousness.
Also, too: thanks for completely ignoring every point I made re Sharpton. Guess your only response was ill-advised sarcasm because you can’t respond with facts. But seriously, if you think Al Sharpton is still some kind of signifier in NYC, much less the country, you are woefully misinformed.
T — if I may be informal — I love your blog, the bassets, and (of course) Shakira’s ass (hell, I went into the voting booth in 2008 reminding myself to “do it for Shakira’s ass”). Yours has been the first blog that I read every day for well over 5 years. I am really disappinted that you responded in that manner.
BTW, I am not at all interested in a pissing match or flame war, with you or anyone else, so this will be my last comment on this thread.
Does it ever occur to you that given his current job, O’bama might have a few more things on his mind than you do, and can’t personally follow the news as closely as you do?
HOLY SHIT YOU NINNIES!
You, tanbark, wtf?!
TBogg isn’t writing about Obama!! Don’t you get that? There’s plenty of fucking Obama coverage on Firedoglake. TBogg writes about things other than Obama. Don’t you realize that Obama is not the only thing?! There are other things?!
Why don’t you start a blog, hire 8 or 9 primary writers and front-pagers, and tell them they can only write about Obama’s failings. See where that gets you.
I can’t fucking stand Obama. He’s failed us horribly. He blew a major mandate when he came into office, and he’s compounded many of the mistakes of the Bush Administration. He’s a corporate shill who sells us out every chance he gets. He’s a fucking murderer!
But for fuck’s sake, does every. single. post. have to be about that? Can’t we make fun of Twitchy McMalkin the Gravity Challenged Fucktard? Can’t we laugh at Sarah Palin sometimes?
Take a prozac or something. Jesus.
I’m going to assume that you’re new to this particular quadrant of the electronic ocean. As such, you may not be aware that our host employs that dark art known as “humor.”
He wasn’t actually suggesting that you don’t care about black people.
TBogg was making a statement about those people (but specifically tanbark, in this thread) who are saying that Obama was a disappointment for not making these remarks a months ago when most of them hadn’t heard about it until a few days ago. The story has been around for a month, but it has only been a national story for a month. The tanbarks out there – who are a sizable chunk of this network – have been using this story as a cudgel against the President.
His point when bringing up Sharpton was that a guy who leaps on any racially motivated story nevertheless didn’t feel the need to even mention Martin until this week because he hadn’t heard about it, same as Obama. Your main offense was coming to the defense of a member of FDL’s Purity Pony crowd. TBogg wasn’t even talking about you, really, his ire was aimed towards the idiots who overwhelm this blog every time it makes the FDL mainpage.
So he wasn’t actually suggesting that you don’t care about black people. He was making a point about the purity crowd and their selective outrage, and employing “sarcasm” while doing so.
(Postscript: It looks like you’ve commented here quite a bit. You’ve really never seen the ‘Bogg fight the Purity crew? Lucky you, I guess)
Sorry Bub, wavydavy killed smoothjazz. You kill smoothjazz?
Postscript: on your rant: Go fuck yourself.
Oh, that was a bit harsh towards KillSmiley, so I’ll try again.
Over the years wavydavy has contributed far more to the general merriment of “this particular quadrant of electronic ocean” than you, KillSmiley, can dream to approach.
There, I feel better.
Also, KillSmiley, eat a bag of salted dicks.
postscript (in honor of KillSmiley (aka Dillhole) and sbruin): Bad etiquette posting fuckall posts in a fucking row and Robert Alexander Dumas’ wrath may rain down….
Dude, what did I do? I was trying to be fucking diplomatic here and explain some shit. Am I really to eat dicks because I haven’t spent every day of the ten years or so I’ve spent following Sir Bogg spilling my brain onto these pages, or following the digital lives of those that do? A thousand pardons, I have only so many hours per day to spend on memorizing Internet minutiae, and in the future I will do so on the commentariat at this site, rather than…whatever the fuck I do all day.
I guess what I’m saying is that in the future I’ll spend my time posting comments at World O’ Crap, where people don’t act like engorged veiny bellends at people with whom they have ultimately incidental disagreements.
Great picture. These folks want to go back to
19571857, even though in Malkin’s case it would mean that she would not be allowedto have a careerinto the country.Just one more extra fix.
You know what? That was intemperate. Let me settle this.
“Eating a bag of dicks” is a joke that TBogg took from Louis C.K., who also had his material lifted by Dane Cook. Nevertheless, Louis had Cook as a guest on his show, where the two of them (playing characters based on themselves) had a tense but cordial chat about the controversy. This meant that they had to work together in real life, which demonstrated a degree of class seldom seen in today’s increasingly rancorous public square.
In short: Thank you, gunsandbutter, for your advice in telling me to go fuck myself. It was greatly appreciated.
I approve this circular firing squad. Romney in 2012!!!
Thanks for hanging in there Tbogg. I sometimes wonder if the progressive purists aren’t actually just wingnut provocateurs. They certainly have the same effect. Unfortunately, they recall the old racist joke about breaking up a race riot by tossing in a basketball. If the 2012 election becomes primarily about race or guns, we can all look forward to President Romney.
Reread your first sentence and then your postscript @108.
They seem, to me, to be at odds.
wavydavy, probably still chuckling about the completely righteous Bed-Stuy over-the-bus take down of smoothjazz (and his Boner4Palin) many moons back, doesn’t need to be told how this site works. Nobody does.
Those were simpler times, when folks didn’t drop in on a regular basis to explain “snark”….
So awesome that a post about right-wingers condemning Obama for doing something decent would attract comments by left wingers – condemning Obama for doing something decent. Keep up the good work, Purity Warriors!
No shit! Yeah, Obama’s following every murder that happens everywhere in the country, to second-guess the police force with lightning speed, right? Some people want to make a profession out of pre=-emptively losing their shit.
How do we get Tanfart his own blog somewhere else, so we don’t have to read it?
