Shorter People Who Didn’t Catch Bin Laden:
People who set out to do something and then actually do it suck.
So conservatives don’t like or approve of the Commander in Chief “bragging” about a goal achieved by the Navy Seals under the command and at the orders of the CiC?
What about the Commander in Chief bragging about a goal that was not achieved??
Somehow I smell Swift Boaters coming out of the woodwork.
Fact: Candidate Obama said he’d go in and get him if he had the chance.
Fact: Candidate Romney (’08 version)slammed candidate Obama for saying such a thing.
‘Nuff said douchebags.
But the wingnuts would have never commented on a failed mission to kill bin Laden.
They’re classy that way, no double-standards, there.
The aborted mission to rescue the Iranian hostages, in which 5 airmen and three Marines perished is never mentioned and was never hung around Jimmy Carter’s neck by the old Cut-N-Run, Arms-for-Hostages, Death Squad-Funding Ronnie Reagan.
Because if the raid had gone wrong and Navy Seals had been captured or killed, I’m sure that Romney wouldn’t think of mentioning that on the campaign trail. That would be politicizing it, don’t you know?
No kidding.
Hell, if the raid was done by a President Romney, it would still be pimped by every single US establishment media outlet.
By the way: Obama went with a raid instead of what Gates wanted, which was a bombing. Considering how much hell we’ve already caused with bombings that “accidentally” hit wedding parties and the like, this would have caused Pakistan to kick us out immediately.
President Obama coulda just cut a commercial stating that, just like the crashed economy, such bed-shitting incompetency as 9/11, bin Laden, Afghanistan and Iraq, are just a few of the things Obama has had to sucessfully clean up.
Then again, I’m fully aware that the truth has a liberal bias.
And liberals are fascists, because Jonah Pantload sez so, IknowyouarebutwhatamI. Neener, neener.
I thought conservatives were all about supporting the troops in a time of WAR, Inc. Riddle me this: how does it “support the troops” to have a bunch of conservatives bitching, vetching & whining about the Commander in Chief??
Not to mention the fact that when W decided it was imperative to go to WAR Inc against Iraq (because there’s black gold in them thar deserts!), citizens who protested that senseless expensive jackass WAR Inc had conservatives screaming at them for being at least “unpatriotic,” if not “traitors,” who were “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”
So riddle me this: are conservatives now unpatriotic traitors giving aid & comfort to the enemy?? Cuz last time I checked, Team USA is still at WAR Inc on various fronts.
Oh, no! John Bolton and Donald Rumsfeld have both weighed in with their opinion that, fuck, who the fuck knows what those assholes are saying?
That such enormous fucking failures and incompetents can still freely walk this Earth is proof that there is no god.
I’m sure the Romney campaign is on the edge of its seat for “help” from the rest of the failed Bush presidency. What say you, Doug Feith? Can we get a joint op-ed from Ari Fleischer and Dana Perino? Karl Rove, let your voice be heard! Hariet Meyers and John Yoo, any thoughts on that bin Laden raid?
“That such enormous fucking failures and incompetents can still freely walk this Earth is proof that there is no god.”
Or that the deity has one warped sense of humor.
You know, when I read crap like this, it just makes me want to work that much harder for Obama’s reelection…if only to watch wingnuts’ heads exploding four more years.
Romney would have out-sourced the raid to China.
And paid for it by cutting Veteran’s benefits.
I love how all of these former SEALs just KNOW that Romney would have made the same call. In spite of, you know, what he said he would have done. That makes some really big assumptions, including that a President Romney would have even had people looking for bin Laden in Pakistan, which if he seriously would not have considered going in after him, there would be no reason to do.
But assuming they’re correct, that Romey both would have had intelligence scouring Pakiston to look for bin Laden, and having found him would have reneged on his earlier statements and sent in a team to take him out… then what they’re saying is “yeah, so Romney’s a fucking liar & politically cowardly; what of it?”
They really don’t have any good place to stand here.
Read both articles. The comments at The Wall Street Journal are cesspool worthy, for sure. Take sanitizer along if you go there. It’s like all the Little Green Footballers of 5 years ago, and today, Freepers, decided to sign on.
But the Daily Mail on-line, there’s a real class act. Hard-hitting political bedwetting alongside cheesecake photos. Better take brainwash along with sanitizer when you go.
The link names were enough to tell me I couldn’t take actually reading the bilious tripe that Tbogg bravely surveyed. The problem for the nutjobs at the Mail and the op-ed scribblers at the WSJ is that they don’t know how to take the high road on anything without looking like the shitheads they are. Every time they take Obama to task for talking about killing Bin Laden or trying to dismiss it as a no-brainer they remind everyone that … Obama took out Bin Laden. They’re keeping the story nice and fresh.
I am always amazed at the level of disconnect re: Carter’s attempted rescue mission- the blowback was effectively Reagan’s ascent to sainthood. The Pakistanis have ejected our supply point bases, hampering the war effort, but lining the pockets of all those contractors/vultures ‘supporting our troops’. Looks like the pig bastards never miss an opportunity to steal something. And the chickenhawk scumbags want to claim the high ground.
Rmoney wouldn’t have killed Bin Laden, he would have been too busy taking away his healthcare.
Repukes wanted Bin Laden alive. He was much more useful to them as a shadowy lurking figure that could be used to justify adventurism, juicy contracts, torture and spying, fearmongering and conformity.
On the other hand sometime this election Romney will claim that he is the one that really killed bin Laden. With his bare hands. Before the seal team got there.
And Ollie North has been very modest, never boasting about his role in the operation.
Two words for Romney & the rest of the wingnuts to keep in mind before they say anything about Obama claiming credit for a goal he didn’t achieve:
“MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!”
Less than two years after 9/11, George Bush said “I don’t know where he is…I just don’t spend that much time on it,” speaking about Osama bin Laden.
Were wingnuts outraged? Heavens no. An illegal invasion of Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with the terror attacks, became Mission Accomplished.
Osama binLaden was the right wings Emmanuel Goldstien.
