Yeah, that was kinda hard to watch. {/Rust Belt expatriate}
Cory Booker should be forced to watch all of these in succession, after going on Press the Meat and comparing this brutal-but-honest campaigning with the crap about Rev. Jeremiah Wright from the wingnuts. False equivalency, all to curry favor* with the big NYC-area money people for his eventual run for NJ governor (*per a TPM e-mailer, who IMO makes a pretty good case).
Mayor Booker’s admirable bravery in rescuing people from burning homes makes him well suited to be Chief of Emergency Services. But Governor?? Dunno much about NJ politics – maybe running for NJ guv requires kissing Wall Street ass, if one is to have success that close to NYC, but dayum, Booker!
Oh please! Everyone knows that trifling details of bankruptcies inflicted on strong US companies by Willard via Bain, which resulted in job losses for the 99% (whilst ever enriching Willard & his .00001% pals) are just background noise. What’s really important is to vote for Willard because THEN he can ram through even MORE tax cuts for the 1%, plus de-regulate everything in sight.
Then, and only then, will the 1% finally be able to create jobs.
I’d prefer to have Booker…and Mitt, himself (yeah, that’ll ever happen) sit down with the actual people in the ad and listen to them tell him how they’re doing, how long it took them to find new work, how eeeeevilll welfare and food stamps and Medicaid are, and how much money they’re making now. Oh yeah, and how much income they’ve lost from the loss of their jobs to Bain’s sucking all the company’s money out of it to pay jerks like Mitt.
@ mass @ 4- You say that like it’s a bad thing!!! Didn’t you read the shithouse walls? Blightfart lives! Inside the shithouse! In the basement apartment!
Vampire/vulture capitalists like Rmoney don’t know or care about what’s in their rearview mirror, even when it’s a stream of dog diarrhea. Which it usually is.
Booker must have took the money, ’cause he sure acts like he’s got a job to do. And get the next job, too. Get elected-Get re-elected; all else is window dressing and cotton candy.
A ThinkProgress examination of New Jersey campaign finance records for Booker’s first run for Mayor — back in 2002 — suggests a possible reason for his unease with attacks on Bain Capital and venture capital. They were among his earliest and most generous backers.
Lesley, thanks for providing the links I shoulda dug up for my earlier comment.
I haven’t seen it myself, but apparently Hizzoner went on Rachel Maddow’s show, proclaiming his continued worthiness as a surrogate for the Obama campaign. Commenters over at Cole’s place said RM let him off way too easy.
Meh, it might actually work for POTUS in a weird-ass kind of way: some of the political reporters are saying this serves to keep Bain in the news, which is definitely NOT what the Mittbot wants. There is that…
But Booker sure did look purty in the Rmoney and GOP campaign spots that were quickly whipped up. Harold Ford better watch his back; there’s a new “centrist Democratic” Wall $treet front-man in town.
A new trove of heavily redacted documents provided by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF) on behalf of filmmaker Michael Moore and the National Lawyers Guild makes it increasingly evident that there was and is a nationally coordinated campaign to disrupt and crush the Occupy Movement.
I think calling what Mitt did – wealth extraction from viable companies – “vulture capitalism” is unfair to vultures. Vultures provide a valuable service; disposal of animal remains. Bain was feeding off of dead companies, they were targeting and sucking the wealth out of their victims. I think “parasitic capitalism” is a better framing of Mitt’s life work.

….grumble, grumble….
Mittens new bumper sticker; An elevator for all my cars, and austerity in every middle class pot!
Meanwhile, Cory Booker says Leave Mitt Romney Alone!
Is Cory the new Joe Lieberman?
Andrew Breitbart’s suspiciously quiet about the whole Hilary Rosen controversy.

This is, like: 1 + 1 = 5 (or something).

Bain Capital gave Cory Booker $36,000 for his 2002 campaign

Wow. That–THAT–is powerful. Thanks for posting TB.
Democrats and Bain
Executives at Romney’s old private-equity firm have donated more to the Democratic Party than the GOP. Why?
