Here’s a murder rap to keep ya dancing,
With a crime record like Charles Manson.
AK-47 is the tool.
Don’t make me act a motherfucking fool.-NWA – Straight Outta Compton
Slow day at Breitbart We Gotta Hang Onto Our Phoney-Baloney Jobs World Headquarters as failed lawyer/Congressional candidate/editor/journalist/human Joel Pollak scrambles to string together some combination of words that will dog whistle to the rabble that the Kaffir in Chief is a gun-grabbin’ undercover terrorist lover.
Oh, here we go:
Does Obama Think U.S. Soldiers Use AK-47s?
President Barack Obama, speaking to the National Urban League on Wednesday evening, sounded a call for gun control–and revealed his apparent ignorance about the U.S. military in the process. Obama told the audience that “AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals.” However, the U.S. military does not generally use the AK-47, a weapon originally developed in the Soviet Union that was subsequently adopted by many other communist states. The AK-47 also became the weapon of choice for guerilla armies and terrorist groups.
Got that? Stoopid Obama didn’t say “AK-47s belong in the hands of American soldiers” which means that he either
- doesn’t know which weapons American soldiers carry or…
- is talking about his private ACORN terrorist army who will be confiscating your weaponry at gunpoint right after Obama steals the election. Again.
Probably both.
Joel then presents his case which is chock full ‘o corrections and more qualifiers (which I have helpfully highlighted) than the NBA playoffs:
Today, AK-47s are typically to be found among enemy forces that U.S. troops encounter on the battlefield. Osama bin Laden was often filmed or photographed near his AK-47 rifle–and was killed by U.S. Navy Seals when he reached for it. (Update: Yes, bin Laden preferred a newer, updated version of the weapon, the AK-74.) The former leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi also released video footage of himself
taking target practicewith an AK-47. (Update: Other videos featured the AK-47; the target practice was with a recovered American M249 rifle.) Taliban forces in Afghanistan use the AK-47 in attacks on NATO forces. There are some allied forces that also use the AK-47, and the CIA once funneled AK-47s to “friendly” militias. Occasionally, members of specialized units may use the AK-47 in the field. Practically, however, as well as symbolically, the AK-47 is a weapon not typically associated with American soldiers.
Got that? But, other than that one thing and the other time and, oh yeah, those guys, no armies use the AK-47 which means that Obama is Wrongbama.
Except, of course, when the US creates proxy armies:
The Pentagon has lost track of about 190,000 AK-47 assault rifles and pistols given to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005, according to a new government report, raising fears that some of those weapons have fallen into the hands of insurgents fighting U.S. forces in Iraq.
Okay, there is also that but… Look over there! Bill Ayres!
Whether the error of an errant speechwriter, or the choice of the president himself, the use of the AK-47 metaphor in Obama’s speech reveals a lack of knowledge about the U.S. military–and a possible lingering romanticism about the guerilla forces often lionized by the radicals among whom Obama began his political career.
Uh, yup. The Golden Oldies never fail. Unfortunately you can’t say that about everything that precedes them.

And yet, it took me all of ten seconds to google “M16 Jamming Iraq AK47″ and find a story about US soldiers using AK47s in a combat zone. Where do I pick up my journalism award?
When talking about getting rid of assault weapons, Obama mentions the most widely known(so known even Joel knows) assault weapon ever made?
That Bastard!!
This just proves EVRYTiNg!!!111!!!
Wrongboma IS for sure a NWA comin’ to steal yur gunz (so, as the guns & ammo industries say – whilst strolling their off-shore accounts – BUY moar weapons NOW), plus: COMMIE! Kenyan Terrissss Sochulistic Nazi Al Qaeda-lover dumbama, yadda yadda.
Props for Kaffir-in-Chief (not that the TeaTardz will know what that means).
What’s with the picture of Herman and Eddie Munster?
Try “M16 Jamming Vietnam”. The M16 was a piece of shit when it was first introduced. We were told it didn’t need cleaning and didn’t even include a cleaning kit. Results, GIs used AKs when they could get there hands on them.
Best and the brightest my ass.
Also too, Gunny Highway used one.
you mean precedes them, actually.
Unfortunately you can’t say that about everything that proceeds them.
I generally avoid nits, but this one’s ambiguous. Do you mean “everything that precedes them,” or “everything that proceeds from them”? Thanks.
Thanks. It was late. I was tired.
So then all those Russian soldiers who used the AK-47 for decades aren’t actually soldiers? Or any of the many other soldiers around the world who’ve used them, again, for decades, aren’t actually soldiers? I think Pollak should go into an IRA friendly bar in an Irish-American neighborhood and tell them that those Provos were never soldiers, I’m sure they’ll react in a courteous and friendly manner.
Acting the fool? He’s just being himself.
That photo of those two morans will never stop cracking me up.
I tend to caption it in my head along lines like this:
They NEED to keep guns associated with US troops as opposed to progressives changing the argument to guns=terrorist
Well, mentioning the AK-47, instead of AR-15, might have something to do with where Americans assume it was manufactured. I don’t think this was a gaffe. He likely meant a perceived foreign weapon used by perceived enemies. So why are they sold here? o made his point without expressly calling out a US manufacturer.
Or it could be that only people somewhat familiar with assault style weapons would even register the name “AR-15″, while “AK-47″ is well ensconced in the national cultural zeitgeist. Say “AK-47″ and everyone knows exactly what you are talking about.
Just when I’m feeling beaten down by my various health problems, you put up the image of the Dimmer Twins, and all is well. They make me laugh, and feel good that I’m a relatively normal human, instead of a deluded cretin, like them.
AK-47; for when you absolutley, positively have to kill every muthafukkah in the house!
There is probably one Kalashinikov for every person on the planet. Cheap to build, easy to maintain, extremely reliable- if Holmes would have had one of them, his death toll would probably have been higher. AR’s have been plagued with reliability issues, and drun-type high capacity magazines are also notable for their reliability problems also.
The Dimmer Twins, however, always deliver weapons-grade stupid; no misfires, no misses, no jams, no problems. They are the AK-47′s of idiocy.
There is probably one Kalashinikov for every person on the planet.
Yep. That’s why it is The Gun.
Is Joel pissed that the AK-47 is the Porsche 911 of guns while the M-16 (or AR-15?) is the Cadillac Cimarron?
It sounds more like the AK-47 is the Honda Civic of guns while the AR-15 is the, uh, Ford Pinto? Suggestions welcome.
I’d say it’s more like a Ducati, expensive and high maintenance.
I’ve always felt that it should be We Gotta Protect Our Phoney-Baloney Jobs Gentlemen World Headquarters. Because, props to Mel.
These bozos are reaching so far down into the barrel that they’re going to be getting little pieces of Mitt in London under their fingernails. Which they won’t like, I’m afraid.
I’m sorry but the more I read this, the less I understand it. Pollack is virtually incoherent and the only thing that screed makes clear is the depth of his ignorance, not Obama’s. Guess what? The gun nuts he’s pandering to are gonna know it too.
Scarecrow and other get the chicken dinner.
Obama called out a weapon that wasn’t designed by a US company, which is a weapon far more widely known than the AR-15.
At least Joel apparently knew that US troops have used the AK-47 before.
“o made his point without expressly calling out a US manufacturer.”
Exactly. Which is why all this talk from the ideologues at the Breitbart site–ye fucking gods, did you read some of those comments?–and elsewhere about Obama being for gun control is so much bullshit. More of the imagined difference between our voting “options.” Obama will ban guns right after he jails US bankers and war criminals.
Ducatis are much better than M-16s, which are not only expensive and high maintenance, but also only look good on the showroom floor. That they are still manufactured with a forward assist tells you all you need to know. Pinto is close, but not quite: M16s work really well for about 10 minutes.
He’s got half a point, and it strongly affirs my AK-47s should not be available to private citizens in the US.
