I know every week looks about the same, but this is about all they do.
Wembley at rest.
For those who have been asking, the L&T Casey is doing just fine in NYC. She never lost power and, as of last night, her subway is up and running. However school is cancelled this week because they are using the building as an evacuation center, and work is cancelled because her job is in Chelsea where they have no power yet.
She is mighty bored.

Wembley’s taking himself a snoozer in the sunlight. Nice work if you can get it…
Get that progeny of yours to a phone bank! She’s a hop skip and a bus ride from Ohio or New Hampshire. The Kenyan Usurper demands it!
Glad she’s ok!
She should read a book, then.
When Newt Gingrich gets bored he cheats on a wife.
Let’s not be like Newt, huh?
And the Chargers might even be playing a team they can beat.
Maybe. As in we’ll see.
I can envision an alternative scenario, but it’s probably too much fun to expect it to actually happen…
Yupper — get her to a swing state for the next five days!
You never want a basset sleeping ON you because they are so relaxed they go into “dead weight” mode and that is some heavy shit!
Good to hear Casey’s OK. Better to be bored with the lights on!
That’s not rest, that’s Transcendental Meditation.
Damn, I want that job. Could never pull off the photogenic-and-restful pose like that, though, so better leave it to the pros. You guys also have by far the most delicious light out there on the coast…
You can tell by the way he is holding his ears.
My English Springer looks “the same” as she has since being a true puppy but, well, not quite “the same,” lately (she’s a little over 3). I’ve just started noticing it — and I think I’ve been seeing the change in Wembley lately, too. But, ah, to be in our 20′s again!
Which (I infer) L&T is. The phone bank idea is a good one, though how organized anyone is to recruit first-semester first-years who suddenly have time on their hands in the weird world NYC is right now, I have no idea. The bars are open.
Bassets in the sun, what fun.
Apologies to Charles Schulz and Gertrude Stein.
Also, too, you’ve gotta have a Durante to catch two shade stripes.
That right ear iz gonna get sore if u don’t uncrumple it.
He’s doin what he do best, looking good, even while sleeping. How ’bout some shots of what it is that tuckers ‘em out so much? Hmmm, maybe that’ll just be shots of the boys eating and making more room for stuff to eat….
She is mighty bored.
Not sure if she’s down for volunteering, but a former soccer player might be just the person for climbing stairs to deliver meals to trapped elderly residents in highrise apartments.

I expect she could make quite an impression, see the city, and not be bored, all at the same time.
It’s Friday!
Do you know where
your children areShakira’s ass is?Aaaawwww, Wembley of sun-dappled face and crumpled ear! He looks lovely, as usual.
rickhill…what tuckers ‘em out? Dunno about now, but I remember a video or two of Wembley on the bed or floor chasing a ball tossed his way…or even not tossed, just tossing/rolling it about himself. He did lots of running back and forth then.
and of course, Fenway likes to climb up to the roof and go out on it…although
I think that penchant of his has been foiled for some time now…
Bet the L&T Casey misses her basset boys, up there bored in New York City (which I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they were….). So many lovely suggestions for her. I suppose it could be a good time for her to walk around and get to know the City…y’know, “The Bowery’s up and the Battery’s down…” or is it the other way around? (Is the Battery Park still closed? We countrified folk know it now, after watching Jim Cantore get wet there for a coupla days).
Lovely that she’s where the power stayed on, though.
It can be hard to do pet blogging if the pets’ behavior tends to the slow or repetitive. Millions of people have goldfish, but I lost my house when I went broke goldfish blogging. I think you’ve got something here with the bassets.
Good idea!
I remember that video, about when Wem’s was a couple months old. Still tired from that exertion, mustn’t over do….
you got it!
“The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down”, tejana.
One way to remember is that the Battery means a “battery of cannon”, i.e. defensive artillery stationed on Manhattan Island’s southernmost end and pointing out into the harbor, ready to blast away at the incoming enemy fleet, whichever one was being expected anytime from Peter Stuyvesant’s day up thru at least the War of 1812. I don’t know, but I bet there were working cannon there during the Civil War, too.
I’m in a hilly central part of northern NJ, so no floods right around here, but lots of trees down and power lost. One of our house-mates drove along US Rte. 10 last nite, a main east-west highway, and saw that there was only power available on the south side of it, all the north side buildings still dark. Mass transit is either spotty or non-existent.
