Now that the Tea Party has taken on a Latin Lover (Sr. Ted Cruz who is muy suave) they have come to the realization that they need some additional compañeros of the mochachino hue to help reanimate the old white dude Tea Party corpse, and you know what that means?
The Tea Party group that sponsored a prime-time response last week to President Obama’s State of the Union address is the latest group recognizing the power of the Latino vote.
Officials with the Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, have been discussing their own Latino outreach, said Sal Russo, the group’s co-founder.
“We’ve been trying to do a bus tour that would focus on communities that we don’t normally talk to,” Russo said.

Tea Party members say Latinos, and other minorities, are as critical to their future as the Republicans are finding they are to the future of their party.
“The bus tour is the iconic symbol of the Tea Party,” Russo said. “When we’ve gone to some states, like Texas, we’ve had good Hispanic participation. We’re trying to do a [national] bus tour that would be more directed that way.”
“We want to try to get our email communication and our website in Spanish,” Russo said. “The Tea Party movement has been successful using social media – emails, Twitter, Facebook. That’s how people found out about us. We have to communicate directly”

Not all Republicans and conservatives are on board with the efforts to court Latinos, particularly when it involves relying on Spanish.
Some the most conservative Republicans in the House, for instance, see it as pandering.
In an interview with the National Journal, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said he is opposed to trying to reach out to Latinos in Spanish.
“There’s a conflicting message that comes out from the Republicans if we want to recognize the unifying power of English, and meanwhile, we send out communications in multiple languages,” said King, who has one of the most hard-line approaches to immigration. “Official business and documents needs to be in English.”
¡Ay dios mío! This is going to make it, as the Tea Partiers will undoubtedly say in a very loud voice so that they will be understood: “mucho hard-o” to get down with the Browns, but you know, I think they’ve turned the corner on this whole racism thing so what could possibly go wrong?

This will work as well as the GOP’s Outreach to Vagina-Americans, I predict.

I had great fun going to one of my Borricua (that’s Puerto Rican, in Puerto Rican-ese) girlfriends’ family picnic, and listening to her oldest sister go on and on about me (el blanquito, etc.), in Spanish. When we were leaving, I went over and told her how happy I was to have met her. In Spanish.

San Diego – GROW Elect, a political organization founded in 2011 for the purpose of electing Latino Republicans to local office in California, announced today that its Executive Committee voted unanimously to hire former White House aide Ruben Barrales as its President and Chief Executive Officer.
Barrales is the group’s first President & CEO, and his appointment is part of an aggressive expansion of its political plan, a dramatic increase in GROW’s funding, and the launch of a major effort to elect Latino Republicans at the local, state and federal level, in the nation’s most populace state.
Barrales served for six years as Deputy Assistant to President George W. Bush and White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. He was the President’s senior representative to state, local, territorial and tribal government officials. Barrales was responsible for White House communication and relationships with the nation’s governors, mayors, state legislators and other elected officials. He also served as a chairman of the President’s Task Force on Puerto Rico’s Status.

Tea Partiers would probably want Pete Wilson to help Ruben lead the charge because of his deep knowledge of “those people”. That’s about their level of self-awareness.
It was funny seeing McCain at that townhall in Sun Lakes which happens to be a retiree suburb of Phoenix. These old farts who are probably using illegals to do their yard work and house cleaning are bitching to McCain about those illegals on welfare. Same kind of people who put their money in a trust for their yuppie baby boomer kids so they can go on medicaid and,oh, btw, get your government outta my medicare. Steven King is a real breath of fresh and homogenized air. In the David Douglas School Dist. in Southeastern Portland they have 47 ESL instructors at least, I’m told. What I always think about when hearing how Ted Cruz is going to be the savior of the
Tea PartyRepublicans among the “hispanics” is the attitude of my Mexican-American sister-in-law when Rita Moreno won an Oscar, or something.She felt no kinship or “race pride” (to use an ancient, discredited term) whatsoever. Moreno, you see, is Boricua, not Mexican.

And Cubans? Really, really not the same. Especially if you are a Mexican-American with relatives in the old country who’d really like to emigrate but have 10-20 years wait to do so legally, but Cubans get automatic asylum if they just manage to get their feet on dry land.
Among Mexicans, Cubans only barely qualify as Hispanic.
